Statistically the majority of my favorites have been written by female authors; they also mostly pertain incest, rape, lolicon, cross-dressing and all that fine stuff and mostly but not always have a male lead and seem to be for a male target audience.

Would you consider stories where the romance is basically the foundation for what the main characters are doing? My favourite romances are always when the romance serves as the primary driving force for the pairing: stuff like Shana S3 where you even get the great bonus of seeing the MCs interact as enemies is top tier. I wonder whether that kind of stuff tends to appeal more to guys.
