Cant bring myself to read/watch it because of that cover art., it looks like something for toddlers.

It's really enjoyable and the 99 adaption is comfy and aestheticly pleasing as fuck.

True but I read both HxH and FMA every time.

Not bad by any stretch of the world, especially within the shonen genre and the ones published by Jump, but incredibly over hyped. Personally I feel like it dips into mediocre territory because of the incredible lack of character development and the writer's inability to create a climatic ending. And yes I know I'm going to get a bunch of responses pointing me to the chimera arc etc. But that's the six arcs that takes 185 chapters to get to. In comparison the entire fucking anime of attack on titan only takes about 70 chapters.

And I know it's a weekly shonen so it's quantity over quality but it's still incredibly lacking from every possible aspect.
It's really uninspired, kind of a giant red flag for the entire story going forward.

I think Hunter x Hunter is extremely overrated, fans of the manga act as if it is some cunning action packed series, but it is extremely boring. The character designs are horrendous, which I could forgive if the story was good, but it’s not. I gave this manga a shot with zero preconceptions going into it because it was so hyped up. I read 7 pages of the first chapter and I quit. Then I keep hearing, keep reading it, it gets better. So I grit my teeth and tried again, made it about 17 pages into the first chapter this time and I put it down forever.

The worst part about HxH is not it’s arrogant fanbase but rather that the manga is so dull, uncreative and long winded that it is a chore to read. Maybe it gets good later like the fans promise, but a story that can’t even get the first chapter right I will give zero chance to.

Hunter Exam - very solid start, nothing more nothing else. But isn't really grabbing enough because it isn't very indicative of what's to come. Including Zoldyk Family.
Heaven's Arena - very competent arc that introduces Nen, immediately you want to learn more about Nen. Hisoka's and Gon's relationship is engaging too, the real start of the series if you ask me.

Yorkshin - a lot of people jerk over it as actual best arc, and it has very neat ideas, the Spiders themselves are an interesting group. I think it's a solid arc, but far from my favorite. In a lot of ways it's Kurapika's arc, which isn't a bad thing, but I also thought Gon and Killua didn't have much to do in it besides being jews for 1/3rd of it and getting kidnapped. It also jerks around too many point of views which can be nauseating. But ending is worth it.

Greed Island - this is my personal favorite. Interesting idea, interesting setting, explores nen further, introduces new engaging characters, shows Hisoka from an interesting side you wouldn't expect a character like him to see. I can see why people can be mad about the ending because what Ging did didn't make a lick of sense, and the villain ain't exactly deep, but I enjoyed the adventure itself, the use of card, the training, the use of nen, it was a lot of fun to me.

Chimera Ant - lives up to the hype completely.

Election arc - fun, but Gon's recovery feels a bit off. I don't really dig Alluka or Nanika.

Where we currently at - I feel like Togashi is trying to fit at least 3 chapters worth of material into every single one. Instead of feeling like I am getting more story, it feels just overblown. The whole king's lineage thing and sibling rivalry, I don't dig it either and don't know where it's going concentrating so much on it. In the end only thing that matters is that Tserriednich is a prodigy, it didn't need to be any more complicated than that. And if anything, it should've been Hisoka hunting spiders arc.

FMA Is shit ruined by dubfags

Every HxH arc except CA is short as fuck for a Shounen. All of them are sub 100 chapters, Hunter Exam, if you count Zoldyck Family as part of it, doesn't even fill out 5 full volumes.

Not to mention that if we are talking about anime - original VAs are always representing their characters in various radio shows, live shows or even concerts.
