There is a limit to how much you want to force your daughter character that you don't bother developing.
Rem's popularity is literally all the other girls combined, pissing off more than 50% of your fanbase is utterly retarded not matter how you look at it, and shows that you are a bad writer because you couldn't get the character you wanted people to like over. If you want to see harem done right, check out Invaders of the Rokujouma. The main character is actually pretty good even if he the typical nice guy. He actually has a pair of balls unlike most nice guy MCs. The girls in the harem get really good development and some actually take a long time to come around to the MC instead of wanting his dick because he picked up their pencil. Pic related is a girl introduced at the very beginning and it takes her 14 volumes to warm up to the MC. It also helps that they don't fight for the MCs affection and care for each other like a genuine family. The anime adaptation is alright, but the light novel is an entertaining read and is most likely what you're looking for.
