hard question. A lot of what they did was based on manga/LNs/VNs, and they're questionably worse than the source material, although pretty shows.

I was rewatching Haruhi recently and the whole sequence where Haruhi is drawn like a sprite from Ace Attorney had me in stitches. It truly was a culture icon.
