time skip was a mistake
Time skip was a mistake
The only good part of this movie were the kaworu shinji bits
Based. I quite liked the piano scene.
#subverted #deconstructed #evanjellyowned
Evangelion was a mistake
Can someone actually explain the timeskip though? It's the ONLY thing I don't understand about the franchise, why was it even necessary for the history?
Sagisu's score for Eva never disappoints
youtube.com
Everything starting with EOE has been a mistake. Anno has been jacking off Eva in our faces for twenty years time for him to get over it and move the fuck on. Maybe after Tsuda dies he can go back and finish Kare Kano.
Kare Kano is garbage, let him do Nausicaa instead.
>If I could turn back the time now, I'd sacrifice my own life for him. Why not me?
youtube.com
;_;
Why?
Anno decided to skip the events shown in the 2.0 teaser for 3.0. Why isn’t fully known, probably to make you feel like shinji.
No fucking shit. Have you seen the 10 min camrip of Eva 4.0? The are literally making up the plot as it goes along. Anno doesn't give a FUCK no more. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't even really writing any of the story himself as of 3.0.
You plotfags are kinda sad
Except 3.0 is a fast paced trainwreck that essentially ruined all of Rebuild seeing as how the plot 1.0 and 2.0 were weaving together is now basically unfinished. 3.0 starts a completely different story arc and turns main characters such as Asuka, Rei, and Misato, into side characters in favor of focusing on two dimensional Kaworu who ends up dying again just like in NGE. Thanks Anno.
2.0 was garbage, asuka and misato were already turned into side characters there
3.0 at least felt like eva again
3.0 is just faking Eva. It tries to go for the whole crazy alien shit escalation shock factor and despair around every corner that EoE had but the plot and characters are so disconnected because of the timeskip that it ultimately fails and becomes a jarring mess.
3.0's purpose was to put you into shinji's shoes and it succeeded.
>3.0 succeeded in putting me in the shoes of a kid who goes through 3 mental breakdowns in the movie and whom everyone hates
Nice. Reminds me of a story posted here long ago about some user who watched a bit of NGE with his young kid and the kid said that when he grew up, he wanted to be just like Shinji.
>3.0 succeeded in putting me in the shoes of a kid who goes through 3 mental breakdowns in the movie and whom everyone hates
Not that user but you say that likes its an objectively bad thing. Looks like you got filtered
The only part of the timeskip i dont get is what the fuck happened to nervHQ and the geofront. You can explain so much with granted vaguery, but why the fuck did nerv get put on a pedastal, and half the pedastal is made of people.
the amount of vagueness there is too vague to the point its hard to imagine. Its like a low effort echi anime that unsurprisingly doesnt get doujins, because theres no coherent desire from the audience. We cant fucking adlib a brand new concept to the fucking franchise anno. Third impacts end in jelly and human resets, not explicit contuinity in a fucked up world.
I loved the Beethoven song they made for this
>but why the fuck did nerv get put on a pedastal, and half the pedastal is made of people
Yeah that was some crazy ass shit. But even in the first two movies there was shit that didn't make any sense, like the 4 adams, why Kaworu wakes up out of a line of coffins on the moon already seeming to know about Shinji, and where the hell Mari came from and what her goals are (were). The first two Rebuilds are literally an unfinished story arc.
>into side characters in favor of focusing on two dimensional Kaworu
300+ IQ take: Kaworu had more depth and was more complex as a character in his one episode of NGE than in all of Rebuild because Anno isn't interested in writing good characters anymore. Everyone is shallow in the movie series.
It felt like Kaworu barely cared for shinji and was just trying manipulate him into joining them.
>The only part of the timeskip i dont get is what the fuck happened to nervHQ and the geofront. You can explain so much with granted vaguery, but why the fuck did nerv get put on a pedastal, and half the pedastal is made of people.
And last I recall it wasn't necessarily booming with security, I dunno why WILLE couldn't have just invaded the place and start homewrecking.
>Third impacts end in jelly and human resets, not explicit contuinity in a fucked up world.
Seems like they changed their purpose for the Rebuilds, especially with how often they keep popping them off. I keep thinking that with each consecutive Impact, it begins to alter Earth to fit with an atmosphere only the Angels can thrive in, or at least according to some Anons.
Kaworu was trying to betray seele and nerv though because he wanted shinji to be happy
My personal theory is that all those coffins contain many kowarus, and that seele may be aware of continuity between third impacts. This rides on the continuity theory that, at least including the third impact from EoE, third impacts tend to lead to humanity being reset in form prior to the impact without knowledge of the events leading up to the impact, if not outright extended into alternate realities where they may be no evas or angels, like a reality where shinji gets to enjoy slice of life school days with everyone. The rebuilds very much appear to be a sequel to EoE, where although many of the same EP1-26 events occur, they are occurring in the world after EoE's third impact. Humanity was reset, but not necessarily the world.
So its my theory that each coffin on the moon contains an alotted kowaru for a given loop, and that Seele possibly knows of the loops.
Kowaru altogether is a character that appears to remember events between loops, as he was even already aware of Shinji as far back as his introduction in EP24, while the kowaru who awakes on the moon again directly already knows of shinji.
Iirc rebuild1's kowaru rises from the 5th coffin, providing for at least 4 direct prior loops.
EoE is one, leading into rebuild1.
Its theorized the manga is the original loop where kowaru and shinji first met and didn't have a predefined relationship, so thats one too.
And since a third impact technically happened ahead of rebuild3, the 6th kowaru could show up in rebuild4.
Gotta give it to anno for making such a fucking ridiculous shitfest seem possible.
It would have been enough for Ep24 Kowaru to know of shinji just because he's an angel, and the final evolution of angels. For the Ep1-26 original plotline diehards, kowaru serves that purpose entirely well enough, so to instead change the meaning of kowaru's foreknowledge of Shinji to build into this wacky time loop grand scheme building within all eva content after the original 26 episodes is decently impressive.
Based on what you said, would it be possible that everyone in 3.33 somehow became aware of Shinji's actions in EoE over that long timeskip?
Imagine being a brainlet and still not understanding that 3.0 was an underrated masterpiece.
I agree there were probably prior loops, but I don't think they're meant to be the manga or other eva iterations.
Kaworu in the manga is an entirely different character with no resemblance to NGE/Rebuild kaworu.
I get the feeling the third impact in the rebuilds which turned mostly everyone into evas, was also in the process of turning the earth itself into an eva. That gigantic mouth just doesn't make sense.
This is the worst bait chart I've seen in ages.
Maybe in the original series but in Rebuild he was actually a lot more receptive and supportive of Shinji wherein he actually feels more like a person than just a creature.
>Starting with EoE
I feel like EoE was needed as a direct comparison to Eps 25/26 (Yes to Tang'd and No to Tang'd)
Rebuild 1.0 was a great direct remake and 2.0 was interesting alternate.
3.0 should be considered it's own creation, don't even try to marry up plot concepts with what happened before
Kowaru calls the third impact in 3.33 as literally a third impact, and references the humans call it "near-third impact", probably just because they didnt get turned into jelly and made to forget everything. So for intents and purposes, kowaru probably knows best and this specific third impact just had a bizarrely different outcome - but all the same, probably fucked with time-space much like other third impacts do. Perhaps instead of everyone being made to forget, the survivors were made aware of their prior loops and shinji's longstanding involvement of fucking shit up then bailing at the last moment to do it all over again. Or maybe they just dont generally like shinji cause they know how much he was involved in the third impact they survived. I think its curious that asuka has the same eye injury in 3.33 as she did at the end of EoE, and I wonder if it may indeed be EoE's Asuka and that 2.22's Asuka did end up dying from the angel eva which toji piloted in the series. Either by that asuka being merged into the new reality, or even if Asuka didn't die, she could have been merged with her EoE incarnation and acquired the eye injury that way.
That's what I'm figuring. Either it's terraforming the planet to befit Angels or as you said -- making everything into Eva's. Despite what the original series made the Third Impact to be.
Toji's sister seems to be the only one who liked shinji, and she seemed rather chipper. I dont think it would be that all survivors were made aware of the nature of third impacts.
Evangelion 2.0 = The Force Awakens
Evangelion 3.0 = The Last Jedi
Thats why kowaru in the manga is a contender for being the first kowaru. The first time he met shinji, the first time he did things, without prior knowledge. The manga's third impact then leads into the anime series either directly or a later point, where anime kowaru has already experienced at least one lifetime and is already aware of shinji before they meet.
Ep1-26 = original trilogy
Everything after = disney
No it wasn't reifags got a good kicking
No chance of that being true because Sadamoto worked on the manga by himself with no input from any other staff.
Manga Kaworu wouldn't suddenly change his personality into Anime Kaworu, they are polar opposites as characters. Manga Kaworu didn't even learn much about human emotions so it would be impossible for him to become as charismatic as he is in the Anime.
Oh my god I didn't know it was out already, he reinvents the fucking leitmotif AGAIN
youtube.com
What's up with Rei in this?
Is she another clone?
This guy makes the argument for manga kowaru being an early iteration of kowaru.
Who cares, people say dumb shit about eva all the time. And it's spelled Kaworu, by the way.
>Jar Jar = Mari
With 4.0 on the horizon, I finally sat down and watched the Rebuilds. And after seeing everyone shit on Mari non-stop, I assumed it was because she steals the limelight from the original cast combined with all sorts of other sins relating to OC's and such.
But she ends up having almost no screen-time at all. Other than her debut scene, she rarely shows up -- I'd be hard-pressed to call her a side character, yet she isn't a background character either. Definitely something weird going on here, I feel like he intended to do more with her but simply couldn't. I'll forgive 3.33 as everyone got shoved to side 'cept Kaworu and Shinji, so maybe 3.0+1.0 can fill the gap, only time will tell.
Wel how would you explain kowaru waking up from a line of coffins? What are the 4 coffins ahead of his?
The producer forced Mari in, he thought added a new girl character would make the series more marketable but no one seriously gives a shit about her.
As you say, it's probably the number of timeloops he's been in. But they're timeloops we've never seen, not the manga/games/any third-party material that Anno and Khara had no input on.
If the plan was to go apeshit with the plot deviating from the anime, it kinda feels necessary for another character to be included else it would just be asuka vs shinji/rei/kaworu.
I still don't understand why are the rebuild even a thing.
Anno's running out of cash to pay for therapy.
lol just read retake man
Shits confused here.
Yui entered unit01 in 2004, 4 years after second impact.
Unrelated shit
Everything after ep1-26 exists as extra content for people who didn't understand eva's message and just wanted "more".
The misunderstanding is that anno actually delivered on the extra continuity and longevity of the franchise rather than shitting on those peoples faces by making up dumb shit that wouldn't go anywhere.
>morefags won the opportunity to be eternally absorbed into evangelion and compelled to spend thousands of dollars on decades of merchandising
This.
I thought she would be annoying or something but she is just a non-character.
I wanted to see who Kaji was pointing the gun at. Fuck this gay Earth.
>time skip was a mistake
Always is.
You'll see that in the Eva TV series they announce after the final movie.
If you consider continuity theory, rebuild takes place after EoE, yet is unlikely rebuild is a direct sequel to EoE.
EoE ends with asuka and shinji alive, and possibly the only two people alive, while Rebuild1 begins with everyone having been returned to normal and their memories wiped. Rebuild1 also has giant manmade outlines of where the mass-produced evas had likely landed, yet there is no knowledge of mass-produced evas. So its possible one or even two impact resets occurred following EoE. One to fix asuka and shinji, and a second where the mass-produced evas were discovered.
So we got EoE, 1st reset, asuka and shinji are all that remain.
After-EoE, 2nd reset, everyone gets reincarnated instead of just asuka and shinji, and they discover the mass-produced evas. They're recovered (probably by seele), but leave the outlines where they were discovered. Eventually a third impact happens.
After-After-EoE, 3rd reset, rebuild1.0
If the manga is it's own continuity where Kaworu was the first Kaworu unfamiliar with humans and shinji, the third impact there would be the 1st reset, EoE the 2nd, After-EoE the 3rd, and After-After-EoE(AKA Rebuild 1.0) the 4th. Rebuild's Kaworu is the 5th one though, so i'm missing one in my tard theory.
Shinji is the one looping which is why every event revolves around him, but he makes Kaworu remember everything for some reason
People theorize it's because Kaworu and Shinji are the same person
Manga cowru > 1st
Anime cowru > 2nd
After-EoE, a cowru appears to help asuka and shinji reset everyone > 3rd
After-After-EoE, a cowru probably appears in this loop where the mass-produced evas are recovered, and leads to a reset > 4th
Rebuild 1.0 > 5th
1995 Anno would have aged the characters instead of "muh eva curse"
Curse of the need for 14 year old girls.
What in the goddamn.
It's possible
based and homopilled
>trailer was a lie
I wanna know what the story was before it was rewritten
I think Anno wanted to achieve a few specific things:
- Shinji actually has to suffer for fucking up the world this time
- Misato/Ritsuko/Asuka actually get to rebel against Gendo and Fuyutsuki this time, with their own organisation
- Put a different lens on Eva with all of the space battleship star wars shit and play with even more fucked up evas/angels/etc
Accelerating the continuity 14 years but leaving Shinji out of the loop is a shortcut to all of these.
You mean the only good bits of Evangelion were Kaworu's
>EoE
>disney
ok retard
>implying they are different Kaworus
They're obviously supposed to be the same Kaworu, but it still doesn't change the fact Anime Kaworu was way more interesting and developed of a character than Rebuild Kaworu was. Same goes for every character in Rebuild, they're all shallow shells.
Ya I am still not sold on validity of the time loop theory still feels like to much of a stretch.
It's the only thing that explains Kaworu's words and actions
If user really wanted to he could just hand wave it away as those other coffins being other angels and they were put there by seele when they did the moon expedition.
user is definitely binding at it with the music player, and the blood stains and other clues
Meh vinland saga's ost is better
"at least one character escaped with its dignity intact..."
Clearly you've missed the trash talking Maya that treats everyone like garbage. The little time she stood on screen in the 3rd and on the 4th movies made me want to punch her face so hard so that either her skull or my arm breaks.
At least this movie didn't feel like a shameless rehash of NGE, the fact that it went on a new direction instantly made it better than the first two
Why is Yea Forums capable of having a decent discussion about Eva and /m/ cannot?
Nah, she's just a man-hating lesbian.
