How did he lose his arm so easily?

how did he lose his arm so easily?

He has anti Haki

when your team is babies not even demigod levels can save you

alternatively he knew all along that Luffy is gonna be the one and he'll raise him this way to be a good man - sacrificing his arm, shocking him to the core to be stronger and sacrificial himself

nice headcanon user
cant defend Oda's plotholes forever

Oda didn't understand that the powerlevels would scale that far early in the beginning

Same as Moria and Crocodile

He reached the new world on his own and suffered some sort ideological catastrophe, losing a friend or a battle or finding the one piece or finding out about the truth about the WG, and this destroyed his will to fight and stole his haki from him.

He panicked and forgot about his powers.

This Shanks and Yonko Shanks are different people, they have scars on different sides of the face.

>Kaido and Big Mom are nearly invulnerably and literally can't be hurt by ordinary means
>Whitebeard gets stabbed and shot by ordinary blades and bullets, dying like a bitch

two shanks is thinking man's theory

It was a split second decision. The monster was practically closing its mouth on the kid already. If he would have taken the time to even think and attack the Seaking or block, Luffy might have been the one that got bitten. So he abandoned all defense and left himself vulnerable to the full force of the hit in order to get to Luffy ASAP. Think of it this way: Even Roger was flesh and blood, and when he couldn't defend himself the blade killed him just as well as it would any other man or woman. Same principle here.

He's supposed to be Iruka of the one piece world.

Honestly, this. It happens.

Oda didn't plan that far ahead. He let powerlevels get too high. Haki didn't exist at that point in the story.

Yo this is sensible as fuck

This only works if you ignore the escalation of powerlevels

Oda is the master of foreshadowing, there's no way he couldn't foresee Shanks being stronger than an eel.
This is just Shanks doing his keikaku

Keep in mind this is around the same part in the story where an incredibly promising and gifted swordsman got taken out by fucking stairs. STAIRS. The point being, shit just happens like that sometimes.

This is chapter 1 of a manga that is currently edging towards chapter 1000. When Oda wrote that he was in his 20s, he's now in his mid 40s. You are getting way too bent out of a shape out of something from over 20 years ago when the author didn't even fully flesh out the entire worldview of his story yet.

Oda forgot

Shanks can actually regrow arms like Piccolo, so he faked it to motivate Luffy

That's what Oda wants you to think, seriously.

Still not OP.
Kings of Sea are strong as fuck and you can pretty much only face one after you learn about haki.
Defending someone is always more dangerous than defending yourself.
Fighting anything in the water is always hard.

The seeking has very powerful jaws it took his arm right off the bone

Shanks is secretly a DF-user.

>Oda didn't understand that the powerlevels would scale that far early in the beginning
That's pretty retarded, given how Luffy oneshots the same seaking during his departure in the first chapter.

The Sea King was sent by Shanks to test Luffy's strength before his journey

Don't tell me you don't know of

Lor D. Coast

accidents happen user

Roger was literally dying of some kind of tropical island AIDS he got from dicking various pelagic titty monsters

Luffy already was motivated.
Scaring someone like this is counter productive if anything.

It was to make sure Luffy thinks he owes Shanks his life, Shanks was planting seeds around the world like this with every D he found and 20 years later he became a yonkou

To be fair he was attacked by Lor D of the Cast.

wan piss is a shit series for autistic manchildren, that's why.

>doubting goda

>Zeff never taught Sanji haki

And Whitebeard had one foot in the grave. Oh shit, you think maybe Shanks had a cold at the time?

Not a cold. He got the clap from Makino.

>Garp never taught Luffy Haki

Isn't Luffy's hometown in, like, the most peaceful fucking area in the OP world? Why is something like this around?

Caught off guard like Gofuck.

He only lost his prosthetic arm

>Shanks was planting seeds around the world
How many arms did he lost yet to guild trip other children?

aren't these guys like super sayans where even bullets can't hurt them?

>he's now in his mid 40s
I tough he was much older, by reading how bad would be he dying. I know is work is very stressing, and hurts his health and all, but I tough he was like late 50s or at 60s. At least it makes me less worried.

I haven't read one piece in ages but conventional weaponry still affects everyone. It's just when they're prepared they're able to render it inconsequential unless the one using the weapon imbued it with haki making it just as dangerous again

>incredibly promising and gifted swordsman
She was a literally child. It's not like she was a sword master that had trained for decades, she was a talented kid who had a tragic accident.

Wait a minute. Devil Fruits only existed in legends?
Didn't Sanji literally read a catalog about Devil Fruits?

That's the context the manga itself emphasized.

Based Krieg doesn't read books

Lord of the Coast looks like a disney villain

How would be his song?

you know haki is awakened in extreme cases. Cobi for instance.

Oda knew power levels were fucking retarded and so are you for relying on them

ursula's minions

didn't luffy defeat it with a single punch at the beginning of his journey when neither him or oda knew haki existed in this universe?

they use muskets so they are ball bullets and even then they either dodge or have a devil fruit that makes them useless. How ever they can imbue haki into a bullet but its very hard to do.

they are hard to get a hold of but there is never 1 of the same fruit only manufactured ones exist and they arent very good.

Sanji was from a famous military power and his father probably showed them various abilities/weapons around the world to get them used to them. Krieg is probably some peasant from a village nobody has ever heard of

>alternatively he knew all along that Luffy is gonna be the one and he'll raise him this way to be a good man - sacrificing his arm, shocking him to the core to be stronger and sacrificial himself
>The Sea King was sent by Shanks to test Luffy's strength before his journey
>goda

Imagine being this much of a fantard

I just thought it happens when Shanks only knows little about Haki. Only after this he start training his haki like crazy to offset the new disability.
Lord of Coast is also aging and became weaker when Luffy finally leave his island.

Haki was around, observation haki was brought in during sky island arc maybe even sooner. i cant remember. The death stare was from the very begining and often awakened after extreme moments

That doesn't really answer my question.
I could get behind that if we Sanji see him having any knowledge about Devil Fruits before but he was mostly oblivious about them like the rest.
You might think he would know about Crocodiles weakness since Logia Fruits are probably the most infamous.

probably the catalogue didn't divulge the weakness of devil fruits because those who knew of the DF already knew of those draw backs.
All they did was explain what fruits were out there.

>You might think he would know about Crocodiles weakness since Logia Fruits are probably the most infamous.
water is a weakness to every fruit but no one knew that moisture was also a weakness to crocodiles fruit. Water and Blood both work.

He said he specifically only cared about the invisible one so he could peep on girls.

despite what cock suckers might tell you, Oda didn't think about Haki 20 years ahead

He's talking about legendary fruit users. Not the fruits.
