There he sees the current state of affairs through the weapons which is worsening by the way. In there he meets both Ost and Atla, who there reside now. The former back when she left him the remaining spirit tortoise energy into his shield in vol 7, and the latter after he absorbed her into his shield in vol 15.

naofumi thinks raphtalia died and was so crestfallen that he got a cursed series that made him into a mad genius. the bootleg rapthalias evolved so much that they ended up an actual species in the world.
Naofumi unlocks a new curse series shield after completing the list of doing all the new seven sins(genetic modification, social injustice, causing pollution, etc) which affects him mentally and makes him act more eccentric, unhinged and crazy though at his base he's the same naofumi. Naofumi in that state plans to give raphtalia half the world in exchange of her help in world domination and stuff. Naturally raphtalia says no and naofumi is very surprised that she'd go against him when she's been pretty supportive until now so he declares her a fake, takes half the slave village with him and flies away in his bioplant-made flying skull castle(the new seven sins shield has a ton of cool powers btw). where he first tries to find "his raphtalia", but only finds the "fake" so he believed that she had been supplanted with someone else and from then on began making experiments to re-create raphtalia, this is how the race of the raphs is born as a byproduct of those experiments, up to the 8th generation raph created that naofumi calls raph-chan. He also genetically modifies a few other people like firo, granting her flight, some of the monsters, giving them some raph-like features, and other stuff like making a bioplant golem mecha, healing the demi-human children that were used in experiments and stuff. At the end, raphtalia and co stop him and get him back to his senses, liberating him from the curse and restoring his mental state.
The author used parts of this arc in the LN, such as raph-chan, the crazy scientist naofumi parts were used for kyo and mamoru in their respective volumes and some of the stuff like kiel's crepe tree have small cameos and references to them in the story.

Shield hero have always been patron saints of the subhuman races, and they were literally created by one of the previous shield users.
The kingdom has long had hate towards the subhuman kingdom because of all the wars plus king's sister being kidnapped and raped by them plus the king's son being turned into a monster after being given an uroboros potion during peace treaty(which by the way was done by the whore princess to continue the hate between the two nations)
it wasn't rape. Trash's sister was indeed kidnapped and became a trophy wife for a demi-human commander but they both fell in love and she gave birth to fohl and atla. That said, their father died in the war because one of his comrades threw him under the bus.

They start a relationship in volume 21 and in volume 22 they even talked about marriage. In the anime that could be around a season 5 or 6, i don't think the anime will adapt that much.
And a harem ending is less likely but still possible because the whale sisters are still there.

They never go to Q'ten lo in the WN so that's up in the air. The country itself does exist exists because in one timeline, sadina calls favors from the water dragon for the dragon emperor's blessing.
Its gonna get two more seasons so I have no reason to read the LN.

It most likely means 2 seasons that are one cour long, unlike the first season that was two cours long.
So 2 seasons is really just a fancy way of saying "split cour".
Of course 48 episodes, i.e. 2 times 2 cours would be quite interesting as well, however it's rather unlikely, and I don't really like the changes the anime made like making a retarded (but still bearable) moment in the source material sound even more retarded in the anime.

They aren't THAT stupid. They just don't have the obscene luck(protagonist) stat Naofumi has, the weapons taught them wrong (the games were supposed to be tutorials), they get sabotaged behind their back at every turn (Motoyasu tried to raise a filorial, but princess whatsherface killed it when he wasn't looking),no one believes them about the stuff they actually are right about(restart from save file), and any attempt by them to share information only benefits Naofumi while naofumi spreads false information or acts like too much of a dick for them to believe him. (eg exp charms).
I think I also vaguely recall rape via coercion in Japan not being considered rape, so the author could have actually not considered it rape while it was actually rape via western standards? Eg comfort women. The whole thing is just sketchy which is why I normally just glaze over it.

During the Island resort arc one of them said that if they fuckup they can just restart and know what not to do during the second run, so they weren't taking things as seriously.
For motoyasu it's similar yet different... He doesn't get the ability to return to previois timelines until the start of the second spear series.

The rough idea was still correct enough to add hilarity to the premise of spear hero.
I wanna say Itsuki was the one who said save file since he's the only console player and is the only one that didn't properly die.
The other heroes had a somewhat legitimate strategy that Naofumi fucked up due to a combination of him winning on the first playthrough thanks to sudden god cultivation and the irony of being as bad as they were about listening to others despite his biased POV presenting things as if it was exclusive to the other 3 heroes.
Their dicking about basically revealed all of the hidden enemies that would usually try to be better hidden. Even half amnesiatic, brain addled, and categorically insane Motoyasu is pulling off extreme improvements to the original timeline.
tldr, I just enjoy the irony of the people everyone treats like idiots actually being right but not listened to.
I would hesitate to call it legitimate, but rather, something they can, and did use to their advantage but ultimately fucked them over for relying heavily on thinking their way was the true way to play rather than pool their knowledge together like naofumi did.
None of those disadvantages matter if you make it to the second playthrough and the idea that they didn't try to pool information is clearly false since them attempting to pool information is exactly how Naofumi GOT information from them in the first place.
There is a far better argument that Naofumi was the one refusing to share information given the massive amount of it he stumbled into, refused to mention, and used for scams/ disinformation even during the summit.
If we were to look at it from their point of view it might indeed look that way. Though we know naofumi was being truthful with his info and add the fact that he knows next to nothing. So he has nothing to gain from withholding information or giving misinfo.

What confuses me is how the sword guy managed to kill a dragon but then proceeds to job to enemies that Naofumi could handle.
If by brawns you mean Strength and not Attack then you would be correct. Ren had a sword that dealt more damage to dragons. As for the jobbing, they all are dealing with shit far more powerful than they can handle. Naofumi could barely manage thanks to piling up on the equip bonuses and his "cheat"-like shield of wrath, but that could only get him so far. After applying the other's strengthening methods he was more than ahead of the other heroes in terms of power, but not the attack kind of power. In later volumes the other heroes use the strenghtening methods too and catch up to naofumi VERY quickly. For example, motoyasu in vol 11 made short work of 2 otherworld invaders that were pretty much dabbing on naofumi and his team. That and he had a curse series weapon at the same level(a bit higher perhaps) as naofumi's shield of wrath.
That was kind of the point. They partially look as bad as they do since we're seeing it from a Naofumi centric POV. Their actions were still bad, but actually taking things seriously makes less sense than thinking you are having a dream while high as a fucking kite from all the morphine the hospital must be pouring through your veins after you were being stabbed to death. If they were doing something wrong it's not irrational to think they would have been told something like absolutely nobody bothered to do in the story.
The fact that a previous set of heroes existed within Trash's lifetime means the fact that this batch was weak compared to others could be made by comparisons from living memories in addition to them already knowing heroes were supposed to be stronger from whatever contemporary source the inhabitants were using. They chose not to say anything instead.
You're underestimating how much secret info Naofumi knew too. He knew how to make filorial queens,had a Kung fu granny (she probably counts as multiple pieces of info given how many separate pieces of pertinent inf she amassed during her lifetime), could reflect magic (other weapon users could probably learn how to parry magic from him) which became useful in the final WN fight (and I say this in spite of how monumentally stupid I thought that was since it implies Naofumi learned a special skill no god she ever ran into knew while a barely lv 40 shitter), a dragon emperor shard buff, had his regular strengthening method, the bonus stats from permanently unlocking more shields in that skill tree, his giant continent spanning ninja network he could get information from, and Fitoria whom could probably drunkenly spill all sorts of info if you have her some high quality birdseed.
The dude was loaded.
That stuff about past heroes existing within the lifetimes of others in that world brings up another problem. Why didn't Trash teach his own weapon strengthening method to the 3 other heroes?

An in-universe explanation would be that trash didn't think they could be shared or thought they had it already. I'm inclining towards the former since he didn't had other methods in his weapon ever since the heroes were summoned. In one loop he did implement them when he recovered his weapon.

I think you might be confusing me talking about the WN events with you talking about the LN events which is getting some things out of order? If not, then having a head ninja shadowing him and gathering information for him counts as access since he was able to have them spy on the other heroes, which is part of how he was able to corroborate the fact that the other methods worked.
He was disingenuous to an extreme, he just mostly isn't doing it on purpose as he has little self awareness. He simply acts like enough of a dick that noone can tell if he's scamming or not and not being bothered to show he's actually telling the truth. He shared false info (pre summitt) on it at first via the slave trader to trick people into thinking they could get a filorial queen from his eggs.
The spoiler part ties into how the heroes CAN have competent ideas but are constantly being sabotaged by the people of that world and sorta enhances my earlier point.

The thing about the "magic reflect" looks to me more like a technique that he can do because he figured out he could bounce things like fireballs(calmira wn mini-fihht against bitch) and stuff with his shield. Unless you're talking about the qi techniques he made with atla then i guess he applied some of that to send back the bitch goddess's "lol you die" attack.
The ninjas in WN i can give you, though they ultimately work for the queen so it's more like cooperation(a benefit that the other heroes don't have or take advantage of) than them working for him.
Of course naofumi twisted truths, and spread lies here and there for his own profit and benefit, but going back to the summit, he was being truthful the whole time when sharing his information to the other heroes, though things like the shield of wrath he can't figure out(at that time) and reliably share info about, other than it's statistics and power. Like i said before, he stands a lot more to gain by having everyone in the same page than keep everything for himself. Though ultimately he was the major winner by using the knowledge that the others refused to consider in favor of their own they know it works.

I forgot to post this from vol 14. The situation is as cute as she is.
The tracking pin she put on him got loose and was lost at some point the times he went underwater. As soon as the hourglass in the old capital is active and raphtalia brings everyone over, S'yne rushes to naofumi's side and gives him a big hug. She was pretty worried something might've happened to him. Both Atla and Raphtalia were not amused by this. Atla was angry that another love rival appeared, but S'yne just tilts her head in confusion. In any case, from then on she sticks to naofumi like a leech and naofumi gets himself a Bodyguard.
