Probably. It's kinda suspicious the longest and better detailed match took place at the mid point of the series, between Ayanon and Nagisa. The matches in the Nationals were all pretty short and less detailed. Only explanation I can think of is that he was given a fixed numbers of chapters to cover the Nationals and finish the manga. The final match, which should have been the best match in the series, was the shortest (3 chapters if I remember correctly). A fucking joke.

Of course you would, they're completely different versions of the story. Besides, even faithful adaptations usually leave enough out that you have to read from the start if you want to move to the source. At least doing that here gives you a different story to read.
It not fitting with your personal view of the characters in the manga is not a flaw.

Not only did it make the characters different but it also managed to change their personalities multiple times across the series.
There were so many moments where it felt like half of the cast got amnesia because they didn't feel like they were acting like any of the previous events had happened. Pretty much everyone seemed to forget any wrongs they'd done to Ayano at least.
It would've been bad even if it was an original with nothing to compare it to.
