For instance, Mitty's wish to stay alive for Nanachi's sake led to her becoming an "immortal", but that wasn't immortality, it's just the strength of her desire to survive the ascent for Nanachi crystallizing into a curse blob. A powerful desire, but still able to be overpowered by the likes of the incinerator.

I suspect it's more of an evolutionary/neoteny thing because of how the sea of the 5th layer contains monsters that are really foetus-like. The Larry Niven thing earlier in the thread is referring to the Known Space books where there are "Pak Protectors", a phase of human development which doesn't occur on Earth but which can triggered under certain circumstances. Like how newts can become salamanders, or can be hormonally arrested to stay as newts/axolotls, humans can become Protectors with the right nutrition. Maybe that's what the blessing/Nanachi is, which would explain why the sacrifice becomes foetal/hollow in exchange.
I can see where you are getting the wishing thing from cause of Mitty's immortality, but we don't have enough data yet. It's possible, and it certainly seems like that could be related to "your worth", but I'm not convinced yet because Mitty and Nanachi's transformation was special at the time. Bondrewd hadn't seen another immortal hollow, but it was the first time he'd seen a full bunny too.

I'm even suspicious of the white whistles/life stone. I don't think we've seen proof that they're really locked to a user, or that they're different from regular relics... or where relics come from. Maybe when you get de-aged by the curse past the point of becoming a fetus you instead simply leave an "egg" behind with a potential that can be imprinted by the next user, or something.
I'm just speculating but the point is I'm sure we don't have the full picture yet. The rules are probably even simpler than we think.

I wanted to argue that this is proved wrong by how some threads already begin with posts of utter degeneracy. But let's look at it from a different angle: what if the degenrate posts are the artifacts left behind by the previous cycle?

With the Faputa/Reg stuff (see ) it just seems likely that either Lyza named the dog after Reg, or the dog WAS Reg, or else Lyza/Riko are trapped in a 10-year time loop cycle of her own and she just names everything Reg for some reason. And if he has memories of visiting the flower garden on the 4th layer with her, that was probably 10 years ago. So where has he been since then? My guess is sneaky babysitting.

Lyza encountered "claw-bot" "nearing the 7th layer" this was the first time she met an interference unit, this means she must have met Reg after that. Reg have only been to the flower garden when he was ascending the Abyss just recently since he already took Lyzas weapon there, which he already had when hanging out with Faputa at the 6th layer and he already had that weird neckleace.
When Reg entered his berserk mode at Idofront he sensed multiple people inside him, judging by the picture this was Lyza and Claw-bot, the theory is that Regs body is vessel for souls so that they can ascend the Abyss safely, so by this logic Reg might have three souls in him, Lyza's, the dogs and whoever Claw-bot was.
The theory that Lyzas soul is inside Reg has been hinted multiple times mostly by Ozen.

I don't see why I can't, it doesn't seem to do it against your will, people just end up doing it because that's the most obvious choice for coexistence with the rest of the narehate when you're stuck a the bottom of a hell pit with nothing but the chance to have your deepest desires fulfilled. The difference is she is my deepest desire so I have no reason to give my body up.
