Arcv is just kind of janky and broken in way more noticeable ways than vrains is despite its own issues. The horrible ending of arc v was the result of bad long term investment decisions by the show

I hope the talented ones left on vrains will still be there for next series (well noh seems ride or die with ygo) but I wouldnt begrudge them for upgrading career choices

I dont think they can go back to old school yugioh anime format of packing all the filler into their own episodes and then packing plot into more or less clearly separated plot episodes. Which helped to heighten the important episodes and make them packed, with the trade off of scattered spots of filler.
Now they mix in the padding with actually relevant events, possibly due to a streaming and netflix age that really emphasizes strong serialization.

I'm not saying VRAINS is shit just that the episode was shit. Get better standards

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time wasn't a massive hit and that didn't change their approach to anniversaries. Hell, during arc-v they still sold a lot of cards, so I don't know if that counts as a deterrent either.

GX is an extremely weird show because it feels like it completely switches focus like 2-3 times over the course of the series. So tonally it's kind of all over the place but it's also like, not really even that bad at managing to hit all of those different tones? It has the problem of all the friends getting shafted to focus inordinately on the protagonist but literally every series has that problem at least a little.

Society of Light is extremely drawn out, though and it's by far the show's biggest weakness.
