Why do contrarians here not want the adaptation? Last arc had plenty of fun happenings. They could be improved in the anime with longer screentime too.

It's not that we don't want it. That's wishful thinking that doesn't align with what usually happens in these cases, and Bleach has been irrelevant for a very long time.

I'd love an adaptation that takes seriously liberties, like explaining who the fuck the soul king was.

Because adaptations are for plebeian children that want moving images and flashing lights. Adaptations ALWAYS downgrade the source material, especially art wise.
You can say whatever you want about Kubo's pacing, background memes, storytelling and whatnot but his art is top notch. I don't want more QUALITY, fuck that noise.
Anime never gets the feel of the manga, ever.
The only good things that the old Bleach anime had were the seiyuu, Shiro Sagisu OST and a couple of OPs.

iirc Soul Reapers were originally going to be colored white, but Kubo stuck with the name Bleach because he thought Ichigo "bleached" the Soul Society with his outside viewpoint

I would take even the worst of animations as long as it's a bleach anime. Toaru Majustu no Index 3 level is fine, just give me anything moving. I really loved the BBS ults animations.
