>just blindly charge into the enemy, bro
Just blindly charge into the enemy, bro
>brainlets defend this course of action and attack Oberstein
>implying Oberstein was "attacked" here
Damn I loved how that series showed how both a great general can make mistakes and an average one make massively successful plays.
You see all to often either someone is prefect or incompetence incarnate with no inbewteen.
>what pure Elán and accurate gunnery can get you.
Bittenfeld should have remained a captain and nothing more.
ober-chan did nothing wrong
Reckless generals are the worst type, Oberstein was right
>outwitted by oberstein
>lashes out
That is why Bittenfeld isn't fit for the task.
>Reinhard is known for prioritizing competence in his subordinates
>appoints Bittenfeld to a lot of very important posts
What did they mean by that
>Bittenfeld fucks up in battle
>guess I better promote him
I think Bittenfeld's success can be attributed to Reinhard's redhead fetish
That's the best strategy though.
the thing is, as long as Bittenfeld didn't have to fight against 300 IQ generals, his "just kill them lmao" approach worked well enough. His personalized army was strong enough to allow him to do that.
Why didn't other Admirals customize their forces?
I recall it being mention that Bittenfield had his fleet loaded with an absurd amount of Fast Battleships and mention of Mittermeyer being the one having the fastest fleet
It got never adressed if I recall correctly, but probably because they just didn't need to. Either because they had too high of an IQ and outkeikaku'd the enemy (basically everyone besides Bittenfeld) or because it just wouldn't be worth it because they barely fought, like Mecklinger for example. Reinhardt probably used those reason to tell them to fuck off if they ever asked. And didn't BIttenfeld also do some cool shit to deserve it? Or did he do it with his own resources?
I can't remember.
Bittenfield got introduced as having a fleet full of custom painted ships that get referred to as the "Black Lancers"
He's good at finding the weakness in the enemy formation and immediately breaking their fleet. The biggest issue he had was when he was either on his own or working with others who didn't jive well with his style. Eisenach near the end understood to let him take the lead and then cover his flank to maximum effect.
Arm chair general opinion here. If each fleet is custom (beyond things like paint color) wouldn't it be hard to have a strong of back up part and ships ect. It might also make moving these fleets harder cause supply lines would also need to be customized. On top of that any losses would be harder to replace.
Pretty sure I'm wrong but thats what I think.
That is a completely valid concern and a point to make but its hard to argue for either side because we do not know how the Imperial Military production is set up.
For example, we don't know if the Fast Battleships are built at a special factory from ground up or are they standard battleships that are taken in for a refit.
Really nice point. I wish more stories tried to entertain by real history inspirations.
>ends up causing the deaths of not one but TWO of Reinhard's closest friends because muh no special treatment
Bittenfeld defeated Bucock TWO times, broke Yang's back by sinking Fischer's flagship Shiva and were it no for Reinhard ordering the ceasefire, would have dabbed hard on Attenborough after killing Merkatz.
>blindly charges
>kills the most named characters in the series
>literally the closest Imperial admiral to killing Yang
>literally responsible for Bucock's defeat when everyone else pussyfooted
He may be retarded, but his nigger lancers were by far the strongest fleet in the entire show for whatever reason. Bittenfeld is the personification of "A-Move".
>Reinhard's redhead fetish
You mean the author's ginger fetish.
>Bittenfeld has the best stat score in the story
>Katarina not only surpasses Julian as an X-Wing pilot taking 2nd place but also scores Julian himself
>Poplan is the #1 X-Wing pilot with a kill score that rivals a fleet
>Dominique is a villainess who got to live luxuriously off the back of villains yet get away with everything no problem
There is not a single Ginger who loses out in LOGH. On the other hand, an actual redhead, with red, not ginger hair, just keels over cause of some autist.
Someone's gotta disrupt the enemy lines, so why not send the one guy willing to actually do it?
