Jace Howard
Oh yeah. Next poll JK Mafuyu will take second place confirmed.
Levi Hughes
What chapter is this again? Cause if it's the beginning of the flashback it makes sense to rank that low, it came out of nowhere. Will bounce back later on though when it also gets its anime announcement.
I'll be honest, i havent read JJK in a while. I think i stop before the tournament, afther the hand demon that morph people/souls get btfo for the time being. How is the rest? How bad is the current arc?
Jaxson Murphy
Live, Yui
Nolan Edwards
Personally i like it. It's just that it started out of nowhere and it was kinda boring in the beginning but these last few chapters are amongst my favorites. The tournament, while a bit long, it gives some much-needed screentime to the side characters and has some pretty nice fights and the arc afterwards is a small one with the main trio going on a mission and we get a bit of backstory for best girl Megumi.
Nicholas Nguyen
Looks like Angel Densetsu

its not just pacing, the writing feels extremely soulless too
It's a push because it's getting an anime in a month and it needs to go back to the first places again. Kimetsu, for example, will go back to mid rankings the moment the anime ends.
He made his decision to wrap up Sket Dance after the "Switch On" arc (vol. 27-28), and informed the Editor in Chief.
After Sket Dance, he wanted to try something different, so tried brainstorming a Battle manga, but scrapped it after one year.
Astra was inspired by sci-fi themes of Fujiko F Fujio's works (Manga Michi being a huge inspiration for him becoming a mangaka)
Astra was originally meant for WSJ serialization, but the project was rejected during serialization meeting with no room for renegotiation.
Proposed to his editor for a volume-only release, but was denied. As an alternative, he asked to serialize on Jump+ instead and was accepted. Didn't really consider the audience difference between WSJ and Jump+. His attention is generally more on kids than adults.
His main focus was volume release at the time, so the series was paced by volume rather than adapting to a web platform.
Restructured the story around Jump+ serialization. (WSJ version was meant for a longer serialization) Less planets, cut down slice-of-life and gag chapters, etc. (added as bonus 4koma in volumes)
Went from a cast of 15 to 9. One of which was an alien. Originally thought 3 volumes would be enough, but settled on 5. It was a pretty smooth production since everything was planned out in advance.
Initial reception was pretty weak. First volume didn't meet his expectation at all. The sales weren't terrible per se, but it was no where close to WSJ standards. Felt bad, because he felt responsible for forcing on the Jump+ serialization. It was only in Ch.33 (vol.4) when the series went viral on Twitter that he realized his series was being read by people.
Series gained more traction towards the end, but it wasn't until the final volume (vol.5) that it started becoming more popular. Usually series don't sell if the first volume bombs.
Alexander Russell
Believe it's because the early parts weren't very good, but also because the series was setup as a mystery, so people put it on hold until the series was done and the mystery was revealed.
Thinking of going back to his gag roots for his next work, but it is hard to come up with stuff that wasn't done in Sket Dance.
Noah Fisher

does anyone have the giga chapters that came out on the 29th of august
Both are mediocre. The only series for the last 2 round who improved was Yui Kamio, and because the art.
Michael Flores
Jujutsu is not popular in the west why Viz did the 3 chapter "Jump Start" for it then ignored it until they switched models releasing chapters 4-6 and skipping to 40 (at the time most recent) and still 9 months later nothing for chapters 7-39. They licensed it for a physical release although I think volume 1 stops with chapter 7 so potentially there's a lot of people who just gave up after waiting a year for 1 or 2 chapters.
In addition there were virtually no scans for months. And when it came out it was irregularly.
Luke Perez
>God this series is so underrated. Is it though?
Zachary Morales
TSS has been devoid of anything coming close to joy so far. Setting, storytelling and characters scream for the chopping block, begging for a mercy kill.

Different user here. Wouldn't exactly call it underrated, as so far, it has solely spent its time with a prologue and there hasn't been much content yet. I see potential at the very least and liked the last couple of chapters, so I'd like it to continue for a while longer, to see how Kishimoto wants to do this and whether my guesses were right.
Joshua Cooper

Lots. Jujutsu, AA, Stone, Neverland, Kimetsu, One Piece and even Bokuben.
Owen Allen
None of those series were mid ranking hell Jaguar was always at the bottom.

I like Kimetsu, Neverland and Jujutsu.
Nathan Young
Zumou had good ranking in his first years. Is correct in cases like jaguar (and now series like Yuragii,) tho.
James Evans
I like chainsaw man too but Act age, Neverland, Hells paradise, spy X family and Demon slayer are really enjoyable.
Oh right the gag manga immunity so the exception and not worth mentioning. Gintama was in the middle as well.
Anthony Thompson

One Piece, KnY, Dr.Stone, Haikyuu, Chainsawman, Bokuben. Honorable mentions go to BC and MHA, which I have mixed feelings about and S8, which I have hopes for if it prevails.

I don't really understand how sometimes later volumes have higher sales than the previous ones. Look at Haikyu (ハイキュー!!) for example, it's all over the place.

Michael Bailey
Because it's early and likely fake.

I think the magazine is doing great. People used to say that the publication will die when Oda ends one piece, but there are like 5 to 7 series gaining insane popularity both in the west and Japan right now. Feels like a new golden era for shounen jump.
Gavin Taylor
Why do we never have HQ threads even though it's relatively popular and a top seller? I remember there were Kuroko no Basket threads even though they were small.
Justin Sullivan
why don't you make one and see how it goes?
Camden Collins
Kuroko threads were fujoshit and just that.
Juan Morales
Post the next issues details then.
Josiah Rodriguez
>People used to say that the publication will die when Oda ends one piece That was a legitimate concern when a bunch of the notably big series started ending, went on hiatus or moved to new magazines between 2014-17. Heck, Luffy is the only person on this cover before 2010. The second oldest is HQ in 2012
I miss Higuma Hopefully the author can improve his writing and make a hit next time
Brody Lewis
Forget back in the day, even now there is people asking the same thing about "what will Jump do once OP is over guys???". And while I do get where they are coming from, it's still overblown.
Tyler Reed
The guys who usually start the fanwars isn't around
Jason Phillips
It's because there's no current series in Jump that I can see running longer than 8-10 years like the Big 3 and other popular manga. Haikyuu's maybe the only one.
There is also a concern that One Piece has been carrying the mantle of WSJ's top brand for over like 15 years when in the past, it felt like there were other manga that could slide into the top spot. There's people that will be 18 years old and younger who don't know of a world before One Piece not being the biggest WSJ show. Kids and teens in Dragon Ball's time had FotNS, Jojo, Kinnikuman and the like to be examples of top manga running with it, not to mention the slew of popular shounen in the 90s. There's nothing these days that can match sales with One Piece or run as long as Gintama or even HQ.
Juan Smith
I like csm and Dr stone. Read one piece, mha and Tokyo shinobi out of curiosity and sunk cost
Charles Roberts
mha and bc
Jayden Ward
Sunk cost is a meme. I used to be crazy into Naruto and Bleach but then they went downhill and I stopped reading it weekly until the last chapter. Read what happened inbetween then and that ended up being a good decision
Ayden Hernandez
Why is Kimetsu getting such an anime boost? I thought everyone drew the anime off as mediocre
Camden Howard
Realistically, what are the chances of a One Piece sequel/spin-off coming out to keep the brand alive, and how soon after its end and WSJ's inevitable drop in sales.
>everyone drew the anime off as mediocre That's why it's selling over 10k/volume BD, because people wrote it off as mediocre.
Kayden Cook
>Mediocre garbage don't sell
Man did the anime really did brought a whole bunch of idiots to the fandom
Easton Evans
Things people write off as mediocre don't get popular, user. For things to sell, they need to be popular which means a sizeable part of a fanbase doesn't write it off as mediocre. I don't see what's so hard to get. It's relative quality is irrelevant, what's important is its popularity.
Thomas Torres
>Things people write off as mediocre don't get popular, user.
You do understand if people wrote them off as mediocre from the get go, they wouldn't get popular, right? For their fanbases, they are good and worthy of praise. When debating sales, it's an extremely clear argument, people like it (so they don't write it off as mediocre), therefore it sells.
Jason Gutierrez
>You do understand if people wrote them off as mediocre from the get go, they wouldn't get popular, right? Are you this retarded?
Anthony Moore
You do realize that mediocrity always sells right? Also fanbases will praise anything that's why they're fans.

Jace Moore
Once the Samurai 8 anime gets announced it will give the series a huge boost and will stand toe to toe with MHA and OP. If S8 doesn't reach MHA level then we'll know for sure that the capeshit genre is what makes that series popular.
>Also fanbases will praise anything that's why they're fans. Shoukugeki no Soma?
Bentley Morris
The scandal was basically him the author being a fucking moron more than doing anything actually scandalous to be fair, he owned porn that was legal when he purchased it but not anymore after laws had changed, and he openly admitted to owning it like a dumbfuck to ask how to dispose of it which inevitably led to someone reporting him to the police.
Joshua Hernandez
Or it's just that Samurai 8 isn't interesting
Nathaniel Green
Yea Forums does not decide how things get popular.
Brandon Carter
Sports manga ended for me with Slam Dunk. I havent felt the need to get into haykyu.
Brayden Harris
Neither was kaisen
Michael Brooks
I like Slam Dunk but there are lots of good sports anime
>Kishifags have shit taste Why I am not surprised?
Brody Martin
Slam dunk was great, because the mangaka was 1) a great artist 2) a great writer 3) a true basketball fan who loved the sport and the NBA. If I recall the kuroko mangaka didn't even know the rules of the game when she started. It's kinda insulting when a mangaka knows less about the sport she writes than the readers. Homos with 100% three point shooting range. Give me a break.
About the lack of long runners, you could say the same about manga outside of Jump as well. Not to mention we don't have the hindsight of knowing what the manga landscape is gonna look like when OP ends.
Dominic Nelson
Read WT, it's best sport manga now
Luke Moore
I fucking hated the first few chapters and found it utterly detestable and one of the worst WSJ series ever, now I just kind of think it's mediocre with hit-or-miss bouts of absurdity. Them playing Life recently was pretty amusing though.
I really shouldn't speak though since I inexplicably like Yui Kamio a lot now and it's one of the series I look forward to the most every week despite disliking the start of that too.
Chase James
That would imply the anime boost for BC ever existed
Benjamin Wilson
it did exist, look at 13 and 14 it was just pathetic

There must be a competitive MMO out there that embodies the rules of World Trigger. Anyways it may not have a hard real life equivalent but it follows a lot of the plot structures and story beats of your typical sports manga to a fault.

Samuel Diaz
I do agree that it shares story elements with sports manga, but not enough to be called one.
Bentley Scott

Anthony Allen

Bentley King

Nathaniel Thompson
>toei doesn't outsource to shit studios Idiot. Bones and IG are busy so they shouldn't get jujutsu, Pierriot will get samurai 8 so they won't get it either unless they do 24 ep seasons.
Zachary Parker
the One Piece TV anime is 100 times better than Black Clover when it comes to animation and direction
It's only been in sports mode for half of its run time. By the time the series is over it'll probably only make up a third or a quarter of the total volume count and everyone will stop calling it a sports manga. It's just being called one now because it spent 5 out of the 6 years of its life in the tournament arc. Plus it finally reached the last round and everyone who follows it is excited for it.
After barely winning against the twins, Karasuno is now battling it out against the current Little Giant's team (hence this week's cover). You would think that a team featuring Hinata, but better, would play like Karasuno. Haha, nope. They are basically Date "Iron Wall" Tech on steroids. It's a miracle that they have been able to push their opponents to a third set. I legitimately can't tell how this match will end, since the narrative has a bunch of defeat flags cropping up. I hope that Karasuno wins, if only because I don't want Year 2.
Also, the OG Little Giant has actually made an appearance and is watching from the stands with Tsukishima's older brother.
Ryan Wood
Does Hinata have a girlfriend yet?
Lincoln White
No. Only one character has a girlfriend, and he's from a minor team that Nekomata beat to make it to Nationals. That said, the dude and his girlfriend are watching in the stands and get regular commentary and reaction shots.
Hunter Stewart
Shonen Jump? More like Fujo Jump these days.
Henry Wright
My bet is 173 chapters. That's the max amount of theoretical elements.

Eyeshield 21 didn't feel like a drag until the World Tour arc. Or maybe a little earlier since I wasn't a big fan of the Christmas Bowl match for some reason.

Nathaniel Ortiz
>Beshari Kurashi >15 years >moved to Weekly Young Jump Now that's interesting, what's the story on this manga?
Cameron Cruz
The posters in this thread and what they claim to like carries with it all the credibility of a Trump tweet. I also love how like a lot of things people either flat out claim to hate it like virtually the entire Shonen genre and it's "asspulls" and "padding" specifically until big producers start plugging the shit out of and making adaptations and then suddenly people claim to be all for it. The online anime/manga fanbase continues to feel entirely full of shit and just echoing whatever the big marketers and influencers clearly want them too.
Also Act-Age is probably up next and probably getting adapted by A-1 Pictures since it's the oldest one that hasn't had an adaptation yet, is already clearly getting stealth marketed to lay a foundation for it's reception, it seems like their sort of thing anyway since there's a lot of potential for multimedia and plugging Sony Music artists, and it's crystal clear Aniplex their parent company now has a monopoly on getting otaku and fujo's attention on a global basis via their various partnerships with the studios, people and brands otaku actually pay attention too. If it ends up with any other producer and lesser known studio that can't plug it as hard almost nobody will even pay attention outside of Japan, but they seem to have scored yet another exclusivity deal for Shonen Jump content Post 2016 anyway so there's very little chance of it ends up anywhere else.
Jordan Perry

From what I researched it's a series from the guy who made Rokudenashi Blues and Rookies about a comedian who wanted to form a manzai duo and go pro. After about a year it was moved to a seinen magazine for reasons and it recently turned into a live action TV drama. I want to check it out sometime.
That whole 5 year stretch is a pretty miserable time.

At least his art is much better now, but I'm sure he's happy with Bobobo. It was a pretty popular manga in Japan.
One Piece will definitely get a sequel but only because i think Oda loves the world to much to see it permanently end and it makes a lot money. That why we got characters like O-Tama and Momo. The only difference is that Oda himself will be directly involved in it and won't do what Kishi and Toriyama did which was hand over the reigns to someone else.
Henry Sullivan
I wonder why the anime was cut short.
Juan Long
I have the raws for all four Don Patch volumes but I can't read them. Feels bad. But at least progress is being made on the original.
I think it was either a lack of demand due to the hiatus or Toei. But there's a lot of unfinished anime out there so we can't just blame Toei for everything.
John Nelson
someone redpill me on Act-Age. How can a series about acting make any fucking sense in a medium where you can't tell if a character is actually acting well or not?
John Baker
You probably never read or watch glass mask
Gabriel Green
They made an anime original ending during the hiatus
Jose Roberts
The other actors tell you they are acting well or not or they themselves say if they did a good job.
Robert Jackson
I blame Toei for touching the handful of battle shonenshit series that I actually like.
Lost a bit of momentum after switching from short arcs and a bunch of stand alone chapters to long arcs broken up by a few breather chapters. Probably has something to do why we've had more stand alone chapters since the last arc ended why the current arc starting up appears to be a shorter, lighter fanservice oriented arc.

#42 Boku no Hero Academia (Cover/LCP) Chainsaw Man (CP) Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san (CP)
I still remember Stealth Symphony. It was shaping up to be a hero flavored Durarara but nobody liked it.
Landon Anderson
I will never forgive Toei for ruining World Trigger. I'm still hoping for a MADhouse remake.
Benjamin Ward
The first list is the number ranking of the chapters ranked this week (color pages have to be editor placed so chapters with color pages aren't considered ranked). The number at the end being the chapter of the series that's being ranked. The second list is ordering the series by their average ranking for the past 8 weeks.
Generally speaking, new stuff that falls to the bottom and stays there is likely to be quickly canceled, and established series that fall to the bottom and stay there are likely to end sooner rather than later.
Hunter Richardson
>Chainsaw Man (CP) naisu
Alexander Watson
Where is dr. stone? the greatest shounen for intellectuals
It will be a bloodbath, Shoseki threads will be really fun
Leo Rogers
I hadn't noticed before but Jujutsu got a lot of CPs huh? I hope it gets even more, i really love them.
Landon Sullivan
Add heroaca and I don't even know what the fuck jump is thinking by releasing everything on october. Then again, only five of those series actually sell above average and nothing can put a dent on OP's sales.
Seems is also a collab oneshot between Nisioisin and the Shokugeki duo
Kevin Carter
>Dr. PUSH gets no boost Oh it's funny.
Blake Jones
We got too cocky guys. Chainsawman is going to need the DIET to step in again.
Jeremiah Torres
It makes the top selling series list every week.
Before the anime it was behind Bokuben.
Eli Sanchez
Yeah, and the most it's ranked in backlog it's like 10k one week and never again.
Tyler Jackson
Who's this? Dr. Football?
Matthew Davis
it feels ever since Samurai 8 got a LCP it has been ranking pretty badly... maybe the issue with Samurai 8 on the cover sold like crap and that's why it'll be stuck at the bottom for now
Dominic White
Act Age= shojo confirmed.
Jayden Brown
To be honest, I’m amazed at how ghost tits has survived every week so far.
Leo Torres
It's been months since I checked TOC rankings, what's going on? Why is Hero Academia ranking well, why is Promised Neverland not topping the charts (It's Kimetsu so it's understandable). And is Dr Stone still ranking good?
Wyatt Myers
>Why is Hero Academia ranking well Anime next month. >why is Promised Neverland not topping the charts It usually does but there's no anime soon. >And is Dr Stone still ranking good? For some reason or another.
Joseph Green
no cover?

First Half: Ann is cooking something suspicious in a pot. Hachimaru is shocked to see the state of himself after using the skill. Ann says she will prepare some food for hachimaru. While waiting for the food, hachimaru asks daruma on how to find the other partners/friends. Daruma says that Hachimaru as a key holder has a very strong attraction. And will be able to identify/meet the other Pandaro's box key even in distance. Daruma says that being a license(?)/descendant of the Kongo Yasha clan, you are able to visualize and display information like a video. Similar to how Daruma shows Hachi the history in chapter 15, infront of Furuta's grave. A map is shown and he identifies the location of the other key and start heading towards it. The license(?) of the 4 different clans, and the locker balls, are all devices and things that is left behind by the great Fudo-Myoo.
Second Half: The key function of Fudo-Myoo's program is "connection". "Cut-off" is part of the control as well. The key of the samurai is like a rope that connects things. And the spirit of samurai is similar to a stick that are able to sever things. This power allows it to morph and to be repaired after being cut/damaged. Even if the key changes its shape be it into a vehicle or armor. Among all, Hachimaru's connection power is very strong. Being able to attract the princess and enemies in such a short span of time. With the power, Hachimaru seems to be able to "attract" his friends/nakama by drawing out on a map like a constellation. Hachimaru wants to use it immediately but seems it might take some time to be prepared. So they went ahead and prepare the neccessities before the journey ahead. Ata is ordered to follow and capture Hachimaru (Hachikaku) by Calla. Two men, 1 with white hair, and the other with black hair invades into Daruma's turtle ship holder. In the station, Hachimaru looks cool and is happy with his new outfit. When Daruma returns, he found the two men in the control room. Hachimaru came back as well and was surprised by the intruder Ryu (dragon) : You may cut them off. Kotsuga (bone river) : As usual, cut everything except for women
Heh. CSM pretty much cemented its place around 6-7.

Is Beast Children actually better than Tokyo Shinobi Sessions? I'm only reading TSS. Beast Children looked way too gay for me. TSS is fine for the most part. I definitely read worse. Also that Thai kid is totally a reverse trap isn't it.
Is it? The only thing that made me laugh was the flatty joke. I wasn't really digging the whole epic random poses gimmick or the whole coward thing. Which is basically the main character.
Leo Kelly
What was wrong with the anime? I never bothered with the WT anime, but did hear the last 20 episodes are filler
Camden Perez
The series pacing was screwed up big time, the anime sucked and provided no boost, and the author has more or less finished the main story.
Joshua Morales
Absolute shit molasses pacing and lots of slideshow animations throughout the entire run. If you thought the first 20 chapters of the manga were slow then the anime takes it to a whole new level. The filler arc was placed between Rounds 3 and 4 and had none of Ashihara’s charm or battle choreography, and it makes that big moment in Round 4 more pathetic than it was meant to be.
Hunter Murphy
The Fugitive Arc was like 25 episodes, all filler, and billed as a "brand new series" when in reality it was an unnecessary continuation
the hunterchads are unironically distracted with smash brothers shitposting in Yea Forums right now
Jonathan Flores
I don't think it's all that amazing. Ghost Tits hasn't gotten stuck in the danger zone yet. They won't let it drag on for years with it's sales, but they aren't going to be in a hurry to have it end either. Plus given that at this point it's something like the 5th oldest series currently running in WSJ, they'd be more likely to give it ample time to wrap up than to suddenly axe it.
Dominic Nguyen
what
Alexander Green
Wonder who got added in this time. Took me two months to learn that the Persona guy got in.
Aaron Russell
Terry Bogard as a character Sans from Undertale as a costume Guess which one is getting shitposted the most
Angel Wright
>Sans from Undertale as a costume This peace is gonna last a while.
>that boost What happened between volume 18 and 19?
Noah Anderson
Why did something like Fairy Tale keep getting an anime adaptation whilst Bleach didn't? Surely bleach gets more views and makes more money through merchandising
Colton Brown
Terry because western kids apparently can't appreciate classic japanese games, just like they did with Dragon Quest
Alexander Watson
Ashihara rose from the grave, awakening the series from its two year slumber.
Because Pierrot is retarded. Bleach continues to be one of TV Tokyo's top grossing franchises years after ending alongside Black Clover and Boruto, while FT doesn't even make any of the top 5s.
Julian Evans
Different publishers. Fairy Tail was Shounen Magazine's biggest cash cow for a while and still was one of it's biggest ones at the end. Bleach was only one of several cash cows of Shounen Jump, and had fallen from high tier to mid range by it's end. Also different authors. Kubo was pretty burned out by the end of Bleach, and probably doesn't have the energy to push for more anime. Mashima was kind of burned out on writing Fairy Tail by the end, but mostly just needed a break. Otherwise he had plenty of energy to push for more anime for it.
Dylan Ward
That bottom though. Axepocalypse.
Colton Foster
I don't know about that. The bottom five which is the usual risk zone is:
Yui Kamio Let’s Loose Samurai 8 Beast Children Tokyo Shinobi Squad Futari no Taisei
and the first two are by veteran authors who likely will get a bit more slack from the editors. So it's really only the last three which are on the chopping block at the moment. Especially as Jump usually only needs to axe 2-3 to make room for new stuff.
Jace Smith
basically yeah, crossposters have no reason to shitpost here when they've got top tier perfect bait material in Yea Forums
Jack Baker
its insane that boruto continues to get anime despite being complete trash yet they won't give bleach another try
Ethan Fisher
I want another color page that doesn’t come at the cost of one of the two chapters we get each month
