I like how you can see that Yuma's double and concentrated shield STILL isn't as thick as Chika's single and spread-out shield. And Nino's two individual but concentrated shields are about as thick as Yuma's singular shield.

It's 40 pages, which is a pretty common length for monthly chapters. They keep the two chapter format to keep the volumes the same, and to make it easier to go down to one chapter if his health is poor that month.

Pretty much. They let him do chapters this way because it's probably easier for him to do because of his experience running/pacing a weekly serial. But 2 chapters a month is basically a monthly serial, just paced differently.

Something about that came up during one of the downtime chapters, when Yuma ate okonomiyaki. Kage likes fighting Yuma because he "keeps cool" during battle, when usually everyone's pricking the guy with emotions/intent. Kage mentioned that the only other person he's met who does that is Azuma.

Yeah, it's a different world with a different set of rules and expectations so comparing the two probably wouldn't be fair at all.

What sort of custom trigger would even do him good? Full Arms is obviously out of the question. Geist would be useful in principle, but in it's current state he couldn't use it. The only thing I can think of based on current triggers is if the Connector trigger Konami uses to make her two axes into one big axe can be used on shooting triggers for easy bullet fusion. Then Osamu can swap an asteroid for a viper and start learning to shoot around corners and shoot fused bullets around shields.

Maybe something simple that can conserve Trion consumption at the cost of upping the price of spawning the Trion body like Kazama's Chameleon suit.
Geist has five different modes and some of them (like Armor or Special which we haven't seen yet) may hemorrhage Trion at a slower rate than others. Of course it'll do shit for him given his Trion but 20-30 seconds of that kind of power in a critical pinch situation could end up being extremely useful.
As for Connector I want to see what a Raygust + Spider looks like.

I honestly wouldn't have cared because I didn't become hopelessly addicted to this series until Round 2 of the Rank Wars.

From the very beggining is stablished that they don't even know if Hatohara and Rinji went to Aftokraftor and they even point out that it's very unlikely they did.

what was hatohara trying to do anyway, going with rinji? it's not like shooting at real neighbors would automatically unlock her inability to shoot people problem.

If they don't get a lead on their whereabouts on their way to Aftokrator then I don't think they're ever going to see them again.

On a side note, since we are talking about perfect world possibilities, imagine if we got a reboot of the anime that was actually good and the first season (however many cours it took) ended on this chapter.

Chapter 1 has Yuma's "base" body cracked by a car, Ashihara said if it was a normal trion body it wouldn't have been hurt. Also during the invasion when they realize Hyrein's alektor is basically immune to trion attacks they wreck the buildings around him and he mentions that using physical attacks is a good way of thinking but inefective because it's already been used against him before.

So yeah, trion bodies are just stronger than most/all other matter but might get damaged by non-trion attacks if it has enough strenght.

On the contrary, having squads going face to face with each other is probably one of the best ways they'd figure each other out in this kind of tightly knit squad setting. Especially with all the quirky people.

Likewise, in real battles the conditions for victory aren't always going to be the same.

The point system shouldn't be viewed as a stand-in for real objectives, but as a way to train people to pick apart and make decisions about what your objectives for achieving victory is going to be.

I think the only thing in the point system that doesn't really apply in real battles is about who gets the credit for a kill or trion bleed-out, no ? They just happen to need that because it's a also competition.

In a rank battle it you might be saving an enemy from another enemy to deny points, but realistically that guy you're saving is going to be your ally in a real fight. What you're practicing is how to save one combatant from another's attack and that will be a skill you'll use to cover for allies.

I do wish we at least had a little bit of a better idea as to how the rest of the world views Neighbors and Border. This is a series that is usually really good on details and not forcing you to suspend your disbelief, so for it to also bank on "oh yeah there's an organization using alien tech that operates in literally one fucking city in Japan which no one bats an eyelash at" is just somewhat jarring.

While I do enjoy having a main character who's not handed literally everything and the most special of special snowflakes, I do feel like World Trigger sometimes go a little far in the opposite direction with bullying Osamu and a little more of something like that would be nice. It'd be real cool to see him go against a person more in his weight class just for once instead of getting thrown into the fire every time against the top dogs. Every fight he's in feels like he's climbing a sheer cliff compared to everyone else.

I know he has shit tier Trion and making up for that with tactics is part of the appeal, but give the guy a break once in a while. Might also help serve to highlight just how far ahead everyone else and the general main cast is if glasses boy had a difficult, yet fair, time with even an 'average' person. Almost everyone we see notable screen time for are in the upper tiers when it comes to ability or power.

Black Clover is the embodiment of classic shonen. World Trigger is like the anti-shonen. Not even trying to sound pretentious, its approach is just very different (and dare i say "subversive) than what most people expect.

Ashihara has serious health problems that may or may not be much improved now, it's difficult to tell based on the statements we've gotten. It was indeed bad enough that at one point we lost two years of the series, however.

Did the entirety of the manga teach you nothing? Osamu is not a hard worker, he's results-oriented to the point that it gets in the way. He spends most of his time researching instead of training, and he only even puts in what training effort he does accomplish because his mentor insists.

He ain't got no realistic amount of time or a magical time warp training room to make suddenly make his basic fighting ability good in the amount of time he actually needs it due to his motivations.

No amount of "hard work" training is going to help him reach his short-term goal, all he can do is to spend -effort- on working things out with what brainpower he has, which is better his fighting skills.

To be clear the point of Osamu's character is not to be a "hard worker", it's to be "weak and normal". Osamu is an average kid with a bit, and I really must emphasize a BIT (because his own foolishness gets in the way at times) of strategic merit. He is a true average bloke in terms of capability, and that's what makes him interesting. Like a true normal person, he doesn't even WANT to put in a lot of effort, and even if he did put in effort to improve there isn't some promise that he'll see quick or even significant results at all. People reduce him to "hard work" because he isn't a typical shounen protagonist, but this is ignoring the flaws he possesses and what he's actually all about.

He's a far better combatant now than he was at the start of the manga, and he got there because he worked hard. That's a fact.
I think I get what you're getting at since he stopped trying to better himself at some point in order to better his team, but he's still putting in work to find creative ways for him and his teammates to score points. That's still hard work in my book.

He eventually listened to Karasume and now he's back on track, but it's actually like... everyone ELSE that was see always working hard and improving themselves, hardly ever Osamu. You can count his intense research as hard work but it's misleading/kinda disingenuous
