Akko didn't need Diana to help her with the word, it was the circumstances surrounding Akko's situation that managed to lead Akko to the word. Diana only happened to know the magic tongue twister so that Akko could say it.

Chariot was able to find that same word without Diana's and possibly any Cavendish help.

However, I agree with you that she was totally forced in the end. It was supposed to be Akko's character arc conclusion, after all.

He was still better than Diana tho, the whole dilemma between following his father's footsteps and living his life was way better than Diana's, wich was just a melodramatic version of Akko's dream. Plus his interactions with Akko were waaaay better and well developed

She was a bitch, but was still more than willing to fix her own mistakes whenever they occur. In the show her mistakes are just brushed aside or treated as inconsequential without her even getting a chance to do so. Fucking nothing she does in the show is earned, that's the issue here.

It is never a problem for the protagonist to be unable to resolve the final conflict alone. Especially when it's a protagonist like Akko, where her personality is supposed to be her greatest strength, not her talent.

Over the course of the series, Akko slowly gained more and more control over the situation, and Diana slowly either lost control, or it was revealed how little control she really had in the first place. And at the end, it all converges, and they're able to stand as equals.

Why does it always have to be about being "the best"? The protagonist doesn't need to be the best at anything, except having the most interesting point of view through which to tell the story. And when everybody is constantly mixing that up with being "the best", the most interesting stories end up being the ones where the protagonist cannot be "the best".

Akko cannot be "the best". She can be equals with Diana. If she had saved the world alone, I wouldn't have been more proud of her, I would have just been disappointed with the story. But because Diana was there too, I was proud of them both, and I was able to be proud of Akko for something as trivial as hovering slightly above the ground on a broom.

Diana's not stealing Akko's thunder, she's making her more appreciable.

Who said this was about being "the best"? Diana was almost always the best, it was never a contest, specially if we are talking about skills. Akko never stood a chance in that matter.

The moment Diana and Akko talked in ep.23, they cemented the fact that they had a similar point of view and stand as equals but only in that sense.

The end was supposed to be leading to the climax of Akko's development and hoe she still managed to go forwards despite her ideals and love for the craft being challenged. Her shooting the Arc alone was a representation of the result of her hard work thorough the episodes. If they really had to go with a "teamwork final shot", they could have involved all of the witches present in Arcturus, including Chariot. That, or making actual use of all of that wasted symbology about THREE (03) witches joining forces using the (Tri)skellion.

Not only Diana. That was blatant pandering.

Chariot becoming Shiny Chariot was pretty much her own initiative, probably mainly triggered by her not being able to find the last word thus probably believing sharing her dream and trying to connect with people through her shows she would be able to unlock it. Croix just happened to dislike it because, ironically like the other traditionalist witches, she thought it put the witches on a bad name and the craft and on a more personal level, stupid and humiliating.

The words could only be unlocked through the wielder's experience and if they managed to decipher what they mean. Any 3rd party tagging along to help is a plus, but ultimately depends on the wielder alone. Who knows which was the extent of Croix's help on Chariot's quest, but she must not have been the only one. Diana wasn't the only one who had helped Akko in her quest either. So if it was a matter of "working together", Diana was not the only one entitled to that spot.

So that post about Diana _trying_ to impregnate Akko got me thinking about something...

Imagine the two girls gradually get closer. Akko would be the one pushing the relationship forward, making it more intimate and physical just because that's the kind of friendship she's used to. Diana would be bewildered and charmed, taking the interpretations too far. She would barely contain her uneven breath during some of their playful conversations. She'd soon find that she needs to change underwear after each one of the oh-so-frequent visits to the Akko-Susy-Lotte room.

Susy will actually be the one to stop the attach. She'll peek out of the dorm room, onto the battlefield, go back and listen to the sounds from outside chuckling. Not until the monster will enter its own room, supposedly to get some rest, but instead freeze at the sight of happily sleeping Lotte, will she decide that that's enough. A few drops of her trusty libido poison will turn Akko back into her human form, at which point she'll immediately fall asleep.

There will be no conclusive proof of Akko's fault in this mess. Except for Susy, no one will have seen her transformation, and Susy won't be telling anyone. During the first day all after the catastrophe food will be literally the only thing she can think about or care for, to the point when she will ignore all the questions. That's when "The D" will come to be, as the provisional name for the creature used by the few uninjured teachers piecing the event together from the slurring testimonies of the victims.

She will never fully confess. She will answer "yes" to things like "did you visit Chariot that night?" and "did you use a shapeshifting spell during the day before?", but when asked about the sexual stuff she will not give any answer. Investigators blessed with better looks will note a cute, if slightly carnivorous smile on her face.

Saved by the pressure from victims she will get away with a very light punishment. She will go to Chariot to apologize, only to walk out of her idol's room 15 hours later with bags under her eyes and a silly grin on her face.

Those who will see her walk through Luna Nova campus after the event will note that she carries herself like she owns the place and commands a wave of blushing. After all, everyone will know that while the D is trying his best to stay faithful to her lover, on certain days her libido does get the better of her. And everyone will know that the girls that happened to disappear during these days later considered themselves very, very lucky.

And a boyfriend!

Pregnancies following the event will be too numerous for the administration to deal with. Many of those who retained consciousness throughout the event will manage to cast a spell preventing conception in time, but many others will not. The teachers will decide to not punish the victims and facilitate their early (and not-so-early) motherhood as well as possible.

Constanze will be the first one to give birth the one of many, many children of the D. She'll deliver her healthy daughter slightly before the term. Diana will give birth exactly 280 days after the event. Chariot will lag behind, postponing the inevitable by about half a year with spells and potions. When asked about how did that happen, she will blush deeply and mumble something unintelligible about wanting some time alone with something.

Children's cries and laughter will fill the school's halls. All the children of the D will be girls. Croix, having missed all the fun, will spend long hours in Principal's office explaining to the teachers, ignorant in modern biology, that it all makes sense since there are no males (and hence Y chromosomes) on campus. She will be the only person on campus to not know the true identity of the D.

At some point, Akko herself will decide to give birth. She won't be able to transform during her pregnancy, and those 9 month will be characterized in Luna Nova's chronicles as "most frustrating". Diana will almost completely disappear from the campus, spending almost all the time in her room with Akko; on the rare occasions she'll be out to get some food and everyone will note her extreme tiredness. Susy will be taking care of her, providing numerous potions for restoring all kinds of vitality.

Her first daughter will have beautiful greenish blonde hair. Whenever someone will point out that fact, Diana will smile proudly.

Chariot's a central character as well. Probably the tritagonist, at least of the second half. But you can't judge her entirely on how much she advances the plot.

Chariot's main purpose seemed to be to advance the plot. In the second half, she was advancing the plot more often than Akko was. And neither of them were advancing things nearly as much as Croix.

Instead of thinking about who drove the plot forward, think about their significance in the plot (especially at the most crucial moments), how much character development they get, and how often they seem to be the main focus (again, especially at crucial moments).

Diana and Akko are the focus of the opening. Diana and Akko share the same ultimate goal. Diana and Akko deal the final blow. Diana fixes Akko after Chariot and Croix break her, because Diana was also present in the first scene in the show.

A guy posted a list of protagonist/deuteragonist pairs earlier, and there's a couple really good examples to fit Chariot into as well. If Akko is Luke, and Diana is Han, then Chariot is Ben Kenobi. If Akko is Frodo, and Diana is Sam, then Chariot is either Aragorn or Gandalf. She's very important, especially in keeping the plot moving, but she's far more involved in her own subplot than the central story.

Diana and Andrew are forced to get together by their head of family to take advantage of the coming change of times. They of course oppose but eventually relent anyways. Akko is together with Diana but still gives her support (in part because they're her friends and in part because she's not worried about anything happening between them).
As time goes on Andrew and Diana start realizing how much they have in common, and all the fake "couple" moments make them start feeling something real for each other. It all comes to a head when the couple get stranded for a bit in one of their travels and have to deal with each other without any of the magic/politics nonsense and realize that they do truly love each other (and have an all night sex marathon where they release all the tension they've been building up since the relationship started Akko crosses their minds exactly zero times while doing it)

I am sickened, but curious.
