RIP
They deserved it when trying to make money like that.
Sooo, which one will be the replacement?
Kiss manga
Man good thing we have a lot of manga sites that serve similar content on similar or higher quality, imagine if the panda went down.
There's like 100 other manga aggregator sites out there, this one just has good SEO so it always shows up as the first result in Google when you search for a manga.
Just finished catching up on AOT today on it so timing could have been worse.
It was pretty nice seeing some licensed shit on there, but it did make me feel bad.
What will you do when they all go down and people stop translating stuff besides learning japanese
I'll probably just learn Japanese, I need some motivation in my life
Where the fuck I will read Chainsawman?
you don't
so tachiyomi is the replacement, but how am I meant to search for manga using the MangaDex extension? I get no results. Is there a good workaround or a better alternate extension that I could use?
Manganelo
fuck so what happens if you have that app then? I have the mangarock app and have all my manga favorited on it so it gives me a notification when new chapters are out. does that mean the app isn't going to work anymore or something?
in the url of any manga you wanna find on dex is a number thats like six digits
search in tachi like " id:xxxxxx" with x being the number in the url.
"What will you do when piracy 100% ceases?" is literally the most unlikely hypothetical I've ever heard.
If any of you faggots actually used that site, you deserve to be put down
DA NA NA NA NA
ANOTHER CHINK BITES THE DUST
well, shit. it‘s the only usable manga app on the ipad.
any alternatives that are not websites?
This, fucking Jew. Also, they haven't even shut the web down, probably lying.
>people were actually using this
This doesn't fit the Batman theme at all!
Didn't they fix this ages ago? Just sign through "open in web view" or the other one with a similar name. I don't have this problem at all anymore.
>Streaming
My app still works
>Moneygrubbing site got what it deserves
Good. Kissmanga when?
it's the best solution for streaming licensed rips
probably better to just download it from nyaa
For fucks sake. As much as they suck for being massive jews, that's one repo off the internet. Sometimes they've got official shit that you can't find elsewhere.
Yea Forums
it's probably on nyaa
I used it for licensed shit, it was the best option since MT died besides hunting down torrents which can be annoying to do with licensed shit with no official scanlator website to just bookmark.
Who cares? I'm assuming it's just another one of those shitty online-reader sites that steal work from scanlators and try to profit off them. Good riddance. Scum of the earth.
good tip, thanks user.
it's the answer to all problems
It might be more of a hassle now but thanks user.
no one uses that shitty site. kissmangachads and mangadex chads stay on top
Mangadex ftw
but it's still up
Mangakalot, or Mangadex which is somehow more legit?
Next site that rips official shit will be up in 48 hours like always
>I will never leave this place because I want to read one interesting manga
Fucking hell
still up boys
It really is. I was looking for some random VN OST's on soulseek like I do for the rest of my music, but couldn't find this one particular album. Checked around online for a while and decided to check on nyaa.si and Sukebei and the album was up there along with additional shit and in high quality. I am going to start using it more in general because there is so much shit there.
I upload on Mangadex but it seems like a slower source on Tachiyomi compared to other aggregators, so I never read on it.
There are literally tons of manga sites, and you can still download rips off of nyaa. You guys are retards.
Another one bites the dust
Serve 'em right. Jewin out of free rips.
Is there any other manga apps?
>open in web view
In the app? I can't find anything like that. okay that works, thanks
The app's pretty convenient. Good for keeping track.
Most likely.
$20 says that it will be relaunched under a new name in a few days.
People think mangarock is the only site that has the official rips uploaded while mangasee has all the official rips pretty much up to date with rippers.
you click on open in web view and sign into a mangadex account (click stay signed in). it's the button with the three dots.
still works for me
Luckily, I heard about this earlier and got my Tachiyomi library migrated. That source migration feature worked pretty good.
>Manga scans sites like manga rock are hurting the industry
>Without these sites and other fan translators, manga or anime wouldn't even be a thing in the west
What the fuck do they not understand about this? There is an ocean of manga and anime that would forever be untranslated unless fan groups did it themselves. The western localization companies only have a fraction of the current manga library that's out there and even then it's only popular, currently running stuff. I don't want to be limited to what I can read because CR or whatever company can't get the rights to localize a certain series or don't want to spend their money localizing an older series. Fan translations are the reason this community even exists.
Oh okay, I didn't try looking there. Thanks user.
I have already shifted to Tachiyomi
Open in web view (after browsing MangaDex catalogue) and sign in, this will trigger the cookies.
They aren't translating shit, fuck off
I bet Daiz is behind all of this
That's because other sites compress the image.
>Unironically saying community
why are retards replying to an ANN thread?
I've been doing the pain in the ass way of
>search for manga name plus mangadex on duckduckgo
>copy the id number of the manga's mangadex page from the url
>search for "id:enternumberhere" (no quotes) in tachiyomi's mangadex extension
No account required, though.
Tachiyomi pulls things from aggregators like Manga Rock. It doesn't host anything.
Wonder how they got taken down.
Did Vietnamese police raid them?
That is what happened with Mangamura which was located in the Phillipines.
Mangarock was located in Vietnam.
If you guys in this thread, Google Map Search "Not A Basement Studio", you can see their office.
The fuck are you talking about? Most of the fucking series we read today are still done by translation groups.
What does this mean for idiots like me who paid for their free app?
Chink aggregators aren't translation groups
Manga Plus?
commit hanging on a noose
why do you have to lie, desuka?
Mangarock isn't a scan site, it's an aggregate that profits off of actual scanlators and official releases.
Pfffft, check out this hipster, he reads his pirated anime directly on the pirate forums
Probably even pays money for their illegal pirated manga
Lmao, imagine paying for free stolen goods
>We also recommend that similar scanlation sites (there are many) shut down as well.
Failed to jewing out their readers, going to get killed and then still trying to expose other sites like em cause they don't want to die alone.
What a joke.
Motherfucker that's not who I was talking about. MangaRock shut down because they were hosting the works of translation groups. I was talking about why translation groups were needed and how their wouldn't be a western industry without them.
mantra pf.mntr.jp
I know Mangarock isn't a scan site. I was talking about fan translators and why they were needed.
This. Installing Tachiyomi while using the Mangadex and Mangasee add-ons is already sufficient.
>Chong Seng
>All that chink shit deviantart tier weeaboo shit
LMAO some QUALITY content you got there
Apparently I can still use the app and look at my favorites and manually migrate them over to mangadex and mangaudpates. I already moved on to manga dex and just havent been assed to delete this shit off my ipad. Thanks for the reminder op.
And mangarock's death doesn't effect them one bit.
Seems to work fine for me :^)
Manga Rock got shut down for hosting scans of licensed translations. Not the fan translations, but official stuff from Yen Press, and Seven Seas, and Vertical, etc.
This is Mangarock's real life office in Vietnam on Google Maps.
This is what you funded.
Shame. The app's really good for reading on iPad. Honestly, I don't know of a better, more convenient way to read on-the-go. And their library is pretty vast.
Then again, even if the App is taken of the store, existing apps can still access servers. They just have to migrate their servers and use a different name.
I know, my response was to mangarock saying they hurt the industry.
Is this an app?
Is it even an aggregator?
Fuck, I just want one app where I can read everything FFS, I don't want to fuck around
Why would you read CSM on mangarock of all places? VIZ rips from VIZ-user and Manga Plus are way better than compressed versions of mangastream's already crappy scans.
I live vietnam and hope they continue to siphon industry away from china though, even if it's just manga piracy.
I don't see the problem with this.
The app needs programmers to develop and improve it.
Why the fuck would I pay for free hobbyist translations when I what I want is an aggregator app?
It took me less than five minutes to set myself up with a good replacement, so I don't think it'll make a big impact
If they did this shit from their apartment instead of an actual office, they might not have been raided.
I don't expect Vietnamese cops to bust someone at their home compared to an office.
>Added a "Premium" in app purchase to remove ads
>Included official scanlations for major ongoing series
It's just begging to be taken down.
Hopefully it's fake
No kidding, I'm surprised they lasted so long.
They didn't do anything wrong.
I don't see the difference between this, and say, YouTube Red.
YouTube is filled with pirated illegal content too, and they get away with the same business model
So for those of us with iPads, what would you recommend as a viable replacement for viewing manga?
>Apple shit
Recommendation: Suicide
t. Vietcong
The subscription made no fucking sense.
Honestly I thought the premium was worth it. I paid it once like six years ago and it made it easy to transfer everything whenever I got a new phone. At least I can't be accused of shilling for a dead app
Mangarock doesn't have a stranglehold over your social media presence, youtube does.
>itoddler
Get a better tablet and download a better reader
Knowing japanese doesn't help much imo.
Far easier to find translations than it is to find raws. At least as far as old manga is concerned.
This sounds like bullshit.
When I was in Japan I saw people on the train reading manga on their phones, presumably with OFFICIAL apps
I use them. What's a good replacement then?
This is all bullshit, the site still works fine.
Did you ever bother to look at their screens? Those are chinks and gooks reading translations in their own languages
>I don't see anything different between an official company and some random aggregate site
A majority of the copyrighted material on Youtube either gets taken down or has it's ad revenue claimed by the associated property holder. There is a huge difference.
Funny. The first time I've heard of mangamura was looking at a screen of some jap salaryman.
I know for the fact one of the guys was Japanese, because he was my friend, so it'd be weird if he was reading manga in Chinese or something
Oh the irony because Japanese learns English just to read TL manga.
Send that to the Japanese.
Feel free to shit on them, but I owe Mangarock (especially their app) a lot for the past year or two. The clean interface. ease of use and the reliability of their app really helped me read a lot of manga, especially revisiting old ones. I travel a lot for work so I always have my tablet with me. It's feels really great to be able to just pop out my tablet anytime and select a series to read anywhere.
who cares lol
That sucks. Their site was the best to read Manga on my phone, any other site is either too slow or ridden with ADs.
Honestly i dont know how to feel. I like the app, but they went into some really stupid shit like subscriptions or something.
mangasee ot mangahere
Get a fucking app if you're reading on your phone
sounds a hell lot like what a shill would say, but you're right. I took a look at manga storm or manga bird and holy shit they are awful
App still works. They're still pulling the data from somewhere. They probably have backups in place.
They made enough money with ads, why bother with subscriptions?
like what? There's really no comparison
>mangarock devs moments before Japan bribes local officials, August 2019
Tachiyomi just pulls manga from manga pirate sites you fucking moron.
Which is fine? Manga plus is official so it's not going anywhere and there will always be something like mangadex for the archives. We've been through that crisis, pirates are prepared
I paid for the app (before it introduced subscriptions) because ads are fucking annoying and being able to download them for flights etc is nice, too.
when you're 99% of your manga on an ipad, it's the comfiest solution.
Who?
>mangarock users are mega-newfags who don't even know about nyaa
Why am I not surprised?
learn korean, its easier to find their versions
This one is pretty nice, they always show up first when I type a series on Google.
I remember when kissmanga was the top choice for reading manga, what happened?
I'm currently downloading all mangas in my fav list just in case.
>learn another language to read different translations instead of learning the original language
>something like mangadex for the archives
That's not what mangadex is for, that's what madokami and torrents are for. Hell, some scanalators pulled their shit off mangadex recently for being bitches.
manhua is better tho
Fuck unlike mangadex, this one had those groups of mangas with the same premise so i could found more of the same.
I mean the kind of archives you can stream from. But sure, there are lots of good options depending on what you're trying to do. One site going down is not an issue
>all this phonefaggotry
It doesn't work on Chrome app, also Google retired it from it's search engine i think.
yeah, knowing which titty/smut manga to read next was convenient.
Fuck the manga industry, just learn to live with piracy. Offer your oficial manga in accessible ways, not in a subscription service.
>Mangadex which is somehow more legit?
No, fuck Mangadex. there's a reason they constantly have DDoS protection up.
one dies and two more will take its place, piracy is a hydra
That's literally what manga plus and the shonen jump app are.
t. jews box
Reading any kind of comic on a computer is just less comfortable and convenient than tablet/phone. Even size-wise, tablets are closer to the tanks than a monitor, and you can read anywhere. There's really nothing wrong with it
Screw you user, is fucking impossible to find mangas about bullying that doens't end on isekais/magical mary sue shit
It is still up?
But where am i gonna read my smut manhwa now?
I can't find Uzaki on it anymore. Nagatoro turns up fine though
I don't know why the manga industry can't follow the anime industry and have their manga released pretty simultaneously with their release in jap.
if crunchyroll is able to do it with anime, why is manga so hard. japan needs to think more globally in regards to their media.
fuck, I'd be glad to pay for high quality, translated releases on the same day as they release in japan
t-that wasn't sarcastic. that's literally my way of getting new fap material
>japan needs to think more globally in regards to their media.
watch what you wish for
is it truly possible to fap to ecchi? most of that stuff isn't lewd enough to get my boner up or pure enough to get my heartboner up
Depends on the ecchi to be honest.
Not many these days compared to its heyday.
Well if you are a horny boy that gets it up and leaky just by seeing boobies then yes.
if you're searching for ecchi alone, you won't find it easily.
try to search the "mature" or "adult" tag and you're get straight up sex. not hentai, but close enough to pop a load
Works for me, but I can only get off to weight gain, so it's still rare
Yes, although at this point I'm wondering if the result's the same for different regions. Because we have people saying it's down but for me it's working like usual.
Just as I was typing this, Beastars just updated. Are you guys sure it's down?
>ntr
>drama a la kim dal young everywhere
>muh not-isekai-but-might-as-well-be powers
Uh huh, no thank you!
>only use mangarock for two series that won't get uploaded to mangadex for god knows why
>this
fuck sake
>What will you do
そうです *shrugs*
if it's not on mangadex it could only be because of two causes:
1. the scanlators are fags
2. the only scanlations are official
It is not like there is less ecchi more like less magazines available to host ecchi manga.
For example, Champion Red Ichigo shut down in 2014.
mangaupdates.com
If ecchi artists can't find a magazine to host them, then less ecchi manga will be published.
Some of these artists who can't find mags either resort to doujins or twitter comics which is a shame.
I dont care about anything they put out, but isnt that exactly what manga plus is?
>use mangarock for one series on my phone
>takes 3 hours to load one page
>1. the scanlators are fags
Yeah that's why
What’s a good manga app for iOS now?
What are they?
I think mangaplus takes down chapters after a certain amount of time.
manga plus' selection is rather limited. they don't even have kagaya-sama, the quintuplets or one punch man
think of them what you want, but those are popular manga rn
Manga plus is owned by shueisha you mongoloid
The app is still working... I'm scared.
that explains why the catalog is shit
> Have like 1k+ favorites in Mangarock for when I feel like re-reading and updates
> App will shut down
I have no fucking idea how I'm going to do a backup of this list. Although 80% of it is fujo trash so MRM is the best way as disgusting as I find the site.
Already installed Tachiyomi for the most relevant ones at least.
Question for tachiyomi veterans, searching never seems to pull up any results at all. Am I just a retard or is it actually broken?
ads
Their shitty intrusive ads and pop-ups that made reading without ad-blocker unbearable, and the fact that some manga couldn't even be read if you had an ad-blocker active. Fuck em I say
Where do I go now, especially if I want to read on my phone?
What's a good replacement app?
>tachiyomi
is it worth buying a cheap android tablet if mangarock really shuts down and there's no other good options for ipados?
>I will not browse the thread before making asinine posts
You deserve nothing
Mangadex, manganelo and mangakakalot are pretty decent on phone. No idea if they have apps though
It's worth buying an Android tablet regardless. Step up your game itoddler
can't you use your adblock to block the adblock blocker?
If you're searching things on mangadex then you have to search with the id in the url like "id:8166"
Might buy a cheap Android tablet strictly for Tachinomi now.
Or maybe they actually PAY to read it, you know.
android has nothing to offer - as a system - that apple doesn't do better or more reliable on its ipad. thinking of airdrop alone
>Not a Basement Studio told J-Cast News that Manga Rock started as a project when the staff were college students, and it gathered scanlations that were already released. The company also said:
>At that time, we didn't understand the manga industry, and we didn't know the origin of the scanlations (including things without official licenses).
sounds like bullshit
Grazie that's exactly what I needed
you’re an idiot if you think mangarock is the only good option for an icuck
It has a better community of developers and greater variety of options to actually suit your hardware needs
Not an ad-block blocker, the images straight up didn't load. Ad-blocker actually blocked the pages, so you had to manually remove the filter.
TBQH that wasn't quite kissmanga's fault, more like u-block's, but w/e
They're the only one shameless enough to rip HQ licensed scans. Mangakakalot also does but rock is faster in update.
whats a good reader with search on android?
>Although 80% of it is fujo trash
and nothing of value was lost
imagine not downloading official scans and then reading them. couldn’t be me.
Those chairs look comfy.
looking at the huawei mediapad m5 right now
okay, let me hear your suggestions
which means there are a lot of underpowered tablets out there that make the experience worse. apple tailors its software exactly to its hardware. that just gives their customers a more reliable product with longer and better software support
They fucked themselves by being so public and out in the open to the extent they can get interviewed by J Cast News.
They are just saying whatever bullshit they can think up so Vietnam doesn't extradite them to Japanese prosecutors.
>wahh spoonfeed me
mangastorm, suppose both kissmanga and mangadex.
icomics, download and import manga onto your phone.
dont act like a retard just because you have an icuck
>I have the ability to buy cheaper tablets with Android and that means it's impossible for me to buy the good ones instead
Is this really the best argument you can make for Apple? Pulling the "I'm just a retard who can't make good purchases" card?
Why are stuff still getting updated on the site ? Is it really gonna close?
Man I feel conflicted, they obviously had what's coming to them but they also had official stuff that other places don't have.
why are consumers so mentally ill? Imagine worshipping a specific brand.
Fuck, that shit is gonna screw my library on Tachiyomi.
What's the best alternatives alongside MangaDex? I remember that some scans stopped uploading on this site
Should i put my favorites on a notepad now or what
I use Mangarock for everything that Mangadex doesn't have on Tachiyomi. Glad to find out it has a source migration feature. Love this app.
>believing in whatever Vietnamese say
It's gonna be back in no time
Literally any other manga site
Can't read on my computer in the bathroom.
Can you only get tachiyomi in Fdroid?
Screenshot each and every one so you get the name of both the manga and the author
Mangadex is centralised. It will go down when just one disgruntled moron points it out to local police.
The only reliable backup is the hard drive you own
You can also download from their github page, I think.
Use excel.
Also on Github.
>couldn't even access most of the stuff
eh
Sure and then it will get replaced because the community is there to get it back up. We've been through this several times with Yea Forums shit
I mean stop relying on Manga Rock. I mostly use it with Manga Dex. I transferred the Manga Rock stuffs to Manganelo now. Tachiyomi and Manga Rock essentially compete for mobile app space.
Does the Mangarock extension for Tachiyomi work?
The thing I liked about MR was seeing other works by the same author in the manga page. If Tachi adds that then I have no need for MR anymore. And if Tachi adds it through bakaupdates then it will be the ultimate app.
The app can't die. It's one of the things that really makes my life better. Please. I have tons of favorites, use it every damn day, even abandoned anime and stuck to manga only
Fuck reading in the computer
Yes.
Mangneto
I know what you mean. MR has a really nice interface.
The same shit seems to continuously repeat itself.
As with all things that "shits down", it will be back one way or another.
For me, the only problem will be the mangas holding more space here. MangaRock had such a shit quality that I could easily fit thousands of chapters in a few gigabytes
How does the migrate work? All your favorites migrate too?
>it's just some app, not the site
who cares
I use tachiyomi for doujins EXCLUSIVELY because it has the most retarded search function on extensions on the god damn planet, I should not have to get the fucking I'd just to get the god damn manga on the app for fucks sake, just let me look up the name and give me the god damn manga, also mangadex is prone to scanlator autism fits while manga rock is free of that autistic garbage, atleast as far as I know
Yeah, the layout is really clean. And the recommendation algorithms actually guided me to a lot of series I ended up enjoying.
Use Manganelo
>using tachiyomi for hentai
Why would you? EhViewer is miles better.
I think they reencode in webp. If you keep stuff in your hard drive you might want to do that. Or use optipng and reduce pngs as much as you can without losing quality.
Are you fucking poor? You can't stream your manga chapters? Why fucking download them? Maybe if your taking plane flights CONSTANTLY but c'mon, you browse Yea Forums, literally every phone Carrier has a cheap unlimited data plan, shouldn't be a big deal
Open any title from MangaDex and go to web view. Now, sign in and click remember me, this will trigger the cookies. Don't listen to id fags.
>Used it to find other series similar to what I liked
Shit, what's the best way to find ecchi series like Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!? now?
Rock was shady, but they were great at pointing you to similar stuff.
Mangadex is total shit
Staff pretend to be polite but they’re just a bunch of asshole.
Because I've never even heard of EhViewer and if it doesn't have Cute and funny doujins it's fucking useless and it's even more useless if I have to fucking download the manga, also I use tachiyomi to read comics
lucky my premium account is still okay..., now now.
My data may be unlimited, but online things aren't. Today I'm reading something, tomorrow the site is fucking gone. It's better to be safe, always downloading my stuff. You didn't learnt anything with sadpanda?
You bookmark/favorite things from a source and Tachiyomi tracks your read chapters and stuff on it. You can choose to migrate manga to another source while keeping those tracked stuff and whatever you've already downloaded intact.
Mangadex search only works if you are logged in. That's not a fault of Tachiyomi but a restriction of dex. Also, dex is where scanlators upload the manga so of course it's gonna have autism and drama. MR just copies files from them and others.
I moved almost completely to Tachi, all I keep MR for is some series that were removed from Dex like Aharen and Demi-chan.
They also cave to any faggy scanlator faggot who wants their shit taken down for retarded faggot reasons and they don't have any official shit
Except the panda was back in like a fucking week, you can't stop wacking your cock for a week? Go on Nhentai if it's that hard, it's shit but it was better than nothing
This is going to fuck up my Tachiyomi catalog so bad.
Manga rock at least had the shit that other sites pussied out on.
No, I can't.
Holy shit you just make me not want to touch mangadex EVER, they don't even have aharen San? Jesus fuck
Oh that's much better
You can migrate sources.
Also thanks for mentioning to log in, Jesus fuck I'm a brainlet
Mangakakalot is based as hell ,I read Franken Fran in that website and I will forever feel autistically grateful for that
Alright thanks. Trying to figure out how this shit works.
Then just sign in with web view
Oh shit so you have to re favorite everything again?
No. The source migrate view shows you a list of everything you have bookmarked/downloaded from each source and you can then migrate individual manga from there with a few taps. No refavoriting needed.
Some scanlators avoid uploading to Mangadex such as Jaiminisbox due to controversy that the admin planning to paywall the contents and turn it into a service.
are zoomer babies really crying about some cashwhore pirate site going under?
have they learned to draw backgrounds yet?
