Wow what an overrated shit show, considering how popular this series is I'm shocked at how bad this is. I'm not talking about the entire franchise because I loved the first season and am expecting future seasons to be better but if the rest of Jojo is like Stardust Crusaders I will be left wondering why the fuck this show is so popular. It gets points for great animation because visually the show is stunning and points for creativity because all the stands are interesting and cool but besides those two aspects it is garbage.
The main problem with this season is absolutely 0 plot progression, I know the main point is to defeat Dio and save Jotaro's mom but that isn't enough for a 48 episode show.
Also Jotaro is one of the most boring main characters I've ever witnessed, what a pointless man. There is nothing interesting about him. He's a big macho man with a cool outfit, that's it. I'm starting to think this whole show is just about looking pretty while having no substance.
I really hope this season is the worst Jojo has to offer because I want to like it but there has to be something real to like. I feel like since this is such a historic series starting in the 1980s I have to watch this as a huge anime fan but I can't take much more of this. Future seasons please be better.

That doesn't mean it progresses the plot in any way. They fight the guy and the status quo is maintained. In fact I'm skeptical of your claim in general because Araki could have made up any number of Dio assassins and yeah, technically they'd be main plot related, but they would still essentially be filler. Compare it to some of the stand users in part 4, which people also complain about being filler even though after a point they're all created by Kira's dad to fight the main characters. Having a setup like "Dio has assassins" or "Kira's dad has the stand arrow" just lets you create as many monster of the week fights are you want. I'm not saying it's bad as I'm not as critical of motw type stories as some other people but it's still a point I'd say.

It's only great because JJBA in general is great, I think it's the worst of the 8 of them.
When I say that, I don't mean that it gets a pass because it's JoJo, but because there's something about JoJo that is inherently above the rest of the shlock on the market. This is true for Part 3 too, but comparatively, it doesn't hold up.

It does progress the plot. They travel closer to their destination and take care of one more of DIO's minions who are coming after them. If the fight didn't happen, they would still be in Pakistan, and Arabia Fats would still be out there waiting to attack them.
