G Gundam for the first time ever! I'm loving it so much, pure soul and amazing fun.
Onegai muscle!
Great Teacher Onizuka
Black Magic and Patlabor, both include nice tomboys, cool robots and great animation.
Black Magic also made me notice people doesn't have a clue since some were saying it has horrible animation, but I guess that was my fault for reading dumb shit.
Pretty disappointing, but worth watching for the girls.
This would have worked as a series of OVAs or as a proper tv show with sufficient time to make me care about the main girl's tragic past and back story, a pity because the premise is really interesting.
going to start watching Dirty Pair i was a kid when it aired didn't finish all episodes
That's one cute girl
Oniisama e, it's ridiculous soap opera shit.
D-Do gays have stinky feet?
Been watching Trigun, seems pretty good so far
If it's old, regardless of how well animated it is, it'll be called bad animation by some people.
always assumed they were trying to convey that they didn't like how it looked, and were too stupid to really manage to say just that
high hopes.... and then it suffers from bad anime ending syndrome and you wonder why you wasted time with it at all.
uchuu senkan yamato
it's ok
I picked up the entire Robotech original series on dvd at a garage sale.
So. That.
Last time I saw it was on VHS. It's still pretty fukkin good.
That and I rewatched Venus Wars, highly underrated.
I've seen people confuse animation with art style. Some people legitimately do not even know what animation is.
I've read the manga of that. Does the anime continue and finish the story?
I don't know why, but i really love the muted, more gritty and rough style of older anime. Not that i dislike newer ones, their just really colorful and clean in comparison
Paul's Miraculous Adventure, Attacker You!, Kinkyuu Hasshin Saver Kids and Minky Momo.
Pretty good so far.
just rewatched eoe again
I downloaded all the old Lupin episodes, what are some highlights from parts 2 and 3? I'm more fond of the Osumi-directed episodes from Part 1 and I know the later parts are goofier, but that's not a big issue to me
Does anyone know the series where one of the girls is wearing jeans with a pants leg missing? It wasn't kenichi but it looked to be from 80s-90s
Check out the corresponding articles on Anipages, it's exactly what you're looking for.
This the best release for the original Captain Harlock?
nyaa.si
Oh, Jesus Christ.
As it is Labor day I was rewatching Patlabor.
Decided to start rewatching Yu Yu Hakusho since however long ago the toonami run was. Surprised by the little story aspects that come back to me like the golden dragon pen, also forgot how good the soundtrack was.
Gundam 0079
You guys like Minky Momo?
Not OP, but also watching : I have about 10 or so episodes left and things have been kinda nonsensical for a while, rather than following on the romance sub plots the manga had going it's been gag comedy almost exclusively, they feel like filler even though technically they're not. Not sure how it's gonna end but I'm not expecting anything serious or conclusive.
Idk I have to wait 10 years before SenritsuSubs will finish subbing it to find out.
Idk I want to watch something obscure but actually good. Doesn't matter how old or what genre.
Good taste. I rewatched the first movie and loved it.
Enjoy user, it's one of my absolute favorties.
Choujin Locke
I've started Fist of the North Star but it's been pretty tedious so far. I hear it picks up after 25ish episodes, so I'm looking forward to that.
Only other old stuff I've watched lately was rewatching Zeta Gundam and starting Touch. I mostly watch mecha stuff these days so I'm trying to branch out into the older non-mecha stuff.
Yeah. They just ripped the Crunchyroll episodes, which are from Discotek's release and the best quality unless we get a BD release eventually.
Iria Zeiram
That's really dumb, considering most examples of the best animation ever like classic Disney are really damn old. But at least I understand how their mind works I guess.
Still it's really unfair, perfectly condensating Terminator story in 40 minutes and showing such skill in action scenes (the elevator one is just brilliant) should be more appreciated.
But it was great? There's some really weak episodes but I think it's the first time I see someone not liking the end.
When Evangelion hit Netflix I had a friend who refused to watch it because the animation "was too old" and "everything was choppy like a Hanna Barera cartoon" according to him.
Now I relaly don't care for Eva, but it's got great animation. I figured maybe Netflix fucked up and it was playing some choppy version or something, but he insists it's one of the ugliest anime he's ever seen.
I'd never watch any anime made before 2005.
The BDs are right around the corner if you can wait a few months.
>anyone who lives there and anyone who even visits is held hostage to fitness!
Welcome to /fit/.
Is this supposed to look as sexually suggestive as it does?
Slayers NEXT
also has my favorite OP of all time

I was going to check that out a while ago but I had difficulty finding a good version and the more I looked into it, it seemed like style over substance.
Fuck yes finally.
I wonder why they always disable comments and like bar for stuff like that. Do trolls target those kinds of adverts or something?
I didn't truly start enjoying myself until I completely ignored Yea Forums's opinions and just went for what looked interesting.
>choppy like a Hanna Barera cartoon
Your first mistake was trying to watch with a friend. Anime is generally a solitary endeavor.
next a best
>but it's got great animation
Sometimes, sure
I always hated the English voice for Kuwabara. Was so relieved to find on a recent watch that he was voiced by Shigeru Chiba, he always makes me laugh.
I refused to watch Lupin at first because of how old it looked. Never again did I commit such mistake.
She was one of the more popular mahou shoujo of the time right? Strange that there really isn't a good version out there. As I've said before, there really isn't a western fanbase for old mahou shoujo.
Downloaded Heavy Metal L-gaim and Gokinjo Monogatari, watched Z Gundam. I didn't enjoy it as much as MSG even if it does a few things better, but I definitely understand how it expanded and consolidated the franchise's universe.
That's not how you spell "it's fucking great", user.
Currently watching S2 myself and even if the premise is not as immediately compelling it does a better job at character work and unraveling its underlying themes on screen. It helps that the budget is clearly higher (also 6 years have passed)
I wonder why I wasted time with reading this post
Boku no Pico
Sakura has captured my heart. How can this girl be so hoe_
When one delves down the rabbit hole you find that old things are usually better. It's like refusing to watch old movies because they're in black and white.
Nice bulk!
This show is almost over and I'm still not invested in the story. Artistically it's gorgeous but it just feels like it's missing something crucial.
Actually there is a fanbase it just very niche.
I'd like to talk to some if they're around here but it seems to be me and maybe one other guy in these threads.
Watching PaniPoni. Yeah it's not that old but still, 4:3, lousy fonts and no BDs ever so it feels really old.
Subs I had were hell with all the TL notes. We need a 00s thread.
recommend me something cool featuring elves. preferentially with cool fights/powers/lore.
Really like the expressiveness of body movements in Flame of Recca. It's not just straight pull and punch.
see
It's not going to be over-the-top with characters wearing their emotions on their sleeves if that's what you're looking for, enjoy the more subtle developments.
Haven't watched it yet but just got Street Fighter II. Chun's boobs, actual blood, this looks incredible. Curious why the voice cast is different than the games. No Wakamoto for Bison/Vega, maybe he hadn't started playing him in the games yet?
Yeah those.
It's a mess, it doesn't get any better. I believe they were planning on making a much longer series that got cut down, but really it's probably best just to enjoy it for the art and music and laugh at the story.
You're not gonna find it in the last few episodes, that's for sure.
More like the shoujo romance is a little frustrating. Maybe it's just the kind of romance that women like but the couples I want to see just aren't happening.
There is substance, but too little time and too many ideas crammed in a 44 minutes episode. And the final action scene is some unexciting rescue with an asspull as a cherry on top.
Well it's short and there's a good version, might as well check it out.
what are some good pre-2000s adventure shows?
see
sexy per-censorship hentai
The only gundam series that I actually enjoy. Core gundam fags tend to hate it because of how campy it is.
Fortune Quest
Just watched Touch episode 25, and it was pretty great.
So glad that this looks like a remaster rather than that oilpaint treatment Slayers got. Gorgeous
The main character is a teen girl, but I think they balance it out pretty well. She's awareness of fickleness and doesn't prioritize it.
I really likes Cream Lemon.
based hibariposter
Well, Suna no Bara is one of a ton of one-shot OVAs from the era made to advertise the manga. Watched it ages ago, glad to see that the manga is now getting scanlations. Irene best girl.
That's pretty bizarre considering that episode 1 actually has particularly good animation for a TV series right from the get go. Sounds like they just don't like the look of cel animation and were trying to find a better justification.
I've heard five times as much praise for its animation than I've heard people trashing it personally.
I've been watching Be-Bop Highschool, lots of creative and engaging touches in the visual direction that saves the show from being a bit too low budget, and a pretty charming and funny cast of characters who are easy to root for. But every episode is pretty much the exact same, shit talking, gang fights, and trying to score some puss. I'll stick with it it to the end though, delinquent anime is fun. I'm just going to watch these last three episodes sparingly.
Is it? That must be why I'm seeing people posting anime caps lately.
Has been scanlated since 2015, chapter 78 came out just yesterday. Your post made me look it up on MU, otherwise I wouldn't have known either.
I've been trying to find this.
dropped Akage no Anne, going to start Future Boy Conan soon
Conan is fantastic, enjoy
The Hibari kun creator is greater friend of Akira author.
I know I'll regret asking but what couples were not happening? It's a love polygon where everyone has some sort of involvement except for Isaac Newton.
Hoe bro!
Anime is best watched with friends who love you.
Why is it that some hentai ovas from the 90s can be found uncensored? Were they sold overseas at some point? You just don't find uncensored hentai anymore, not like it matters though, new hentai sucks.
Probably shouldn't speculate since it's not over but Allen and Millerna are an obvious match but Dryden is her fiance. And Hitomi clearly still has the hots for Allen and Van isn't really doing much to change her mind. In Van's case a cat is fine too.
dropped because 2gay4me
Maybe there were gaijins who physically bought and imported them in their countries. Back then hentai didn't have crap animation and direction despite being products for a niche market.
This man is literally me.
OH MY SOBA!
HERE I GO
He kind of gets over it, and it's ambiguous but he may probably return Nanaka's feelings at the end.
Who still holds up?
The identities of the voices for SFII are unknown but they seem to have been various staff who worked for Capcom at the time. It wasn't until the Alpha games(which came after the feature film) that Capcom started using actual voice actors.
This was intended for
Oscar should be higher.
Well I can tell you just from a quick listen that Honda is the same guy who plays Mr. Satan. I don't think they're just random Capcom employees. They sound like some pretty well known actors, just not the ones that came to be associated with those characters later on.
I was referring to the SFII game, not the movie.
That blue haired girl had no legs
I can't believe that Nausicaa was number 1 after 6(?) years.
The amount of porn of her was insane. So much that Miyazaki got permanently butthurt about otakus.
Only 5 episodes of the tv series have been subbed. The 4 OVAs are available in Eng subs though.
watching LOGH for the first time. it's good.
Where do you even get your old anime?
Unless it's something popular, most torrents are usually not seeded.
Are you using private trackers? physical media? your own stash from back in the day?
We meet up at cons and trade tapes.
Miyazaki was pretty protective about Nausicaa
>However, he realised that he could not draw Nausicaä nude without feeling like he should apologise, changing his idea of the story to be more "spiritual."[22] When Miyazaki draws Nausicaä in poses which are a little "sexy", like the cover of Animage in March 1993, where Nausicaä smiles while wearing a torn tank top, he cautions that "Nausicaä never takes such a pose,"
It's almost impressive how much he upheld her as being non-sexual so much that it almost becomes weird. Also, he once denied Anno (yes, that Anno) from making a spin-off comic of Nausicaa because was worried it would be turned into a war glorification series. He truly seems like he's got real-life autism.
>doing kids stuff because you are a purity fag
well.
He probably wanted her just for himself. It's like one of those fuck ups being mad at others for sharing the same waifu.
>English voice for Kuwabara
Took me forever to find out it was Sabat
I'm watching the later portion of CCS. I'm interested in the story, the character relationships are developing, and it's cool to see Sakura get stronger.
I'm currently plodding on with Hayate no Gotoku and LotGH but I recently took a couple of days out and blitzed Usagi Drop, which was really first-rate. Would recommend. Then I read the manga and I think they were right to stop the anime where they did.
Sorry just noticed this was supposed to be pre-2000. Oh well one out of three ain't that bad.
Sometimes there's a bit of discussion in the Aikatsu threads.
Well he was doing kid's stuff exclusively besides Lupin and Nausicaa in the old days.
