A lot less interesting I imagine. I'll never forget the first time I watched Monogatari. The direction is like something you'd see in an art house movie or something. Only after binge watching the whole thing in a few weeks did I realise it was a weird trashy vampire harem anime for the most part.

Kyoani likes changing the material and adding original stuff a little too much, Shaft additions are usually tangential to the content so it doesn't hurt nearly as much the original author intentions (and Nisio's writing is what makes Monogatari).

Also Shaft made the VAs bring their A-game, which matters more in a talk oriented show than animation.

The first point is valid, they do add a lot of original stuff. The VA point however is just nonsense, KyoAni's big movie and flagship series aka Silent Voice and VE are almost entirely character focused and dialogue oriented and had amazing VA work while also having godly animation.
For fucks sake you could swear VE was a giant project done by the top dogs of the local entertainment industry instead of a single studio.

Except they suck ass at directing and scriptwriting so it all comes across as fanfic-tier garbage anyways.
