now should I download the original visual novel, Steins;gate 0's vn (since people say that in contrast to the original adaptation, 0's anime isn't that good) or watch some of the pararel stories?

I'm really looking forward to downloading Zero in my phone

Damn...the characters are three-dimensional and completely believable, the story makes you immerse, it has excellent pacing, it gives a powerful message, and the plot twists are just perfect.

You might want to skip the SG0 anime. SG0 is quite a departure from the original and doesn't really return to its roots until it's about to end.

If you ask me, everything outside of the original SG isn't necessary. You can get by without watching any of it. You don't need to watch the OVA or the sequel movie or even SG0, but if you're not picky and you just want more, there's nothing wrong with giving it a try. Just don't expect them to be on the same level as SG.

S;G is pretty good, but flies off the rails in its last third, makes a short safe landing for the season finale and then tumbles into an abyss with its spinoffs.
