ufotable definitely does everything better. I won't disagree with that. The manga however is where they draw the story from and imo, it has good, consistent writing. You're free to choose to be an anime-only but you're most likely going to get spoiled left and right. I think getting spoiled will totally ruin the series and now is actually a good time to hop on the manga train because some really heavy stuff is about to be revealed. There's no way you can avoid spoilers if you interact with any sort of Kimetsu community.
Kimetsu's art isn't the best one out there but the manga does have a lot of soul put into it. I really hope you can overlook the subpar art and read it for the story. Over time the art improves and will grow on you.
tldr read manga if you care about the story enough to commit the time, don't read manga if you don't mind getting spoiled because it will happen for sure.

Just caught up with the manga. The boss rush that's been going on is kind of grating, but it's exciting to see things reaching their climax. I wonder if they'll go anywhere after Muzan's defeat, though I can't recall any particular instances of foreshadowing for any other possible enemies.
My biggest issue is that a lot of Breath techniques look really 'samey' in the manga, so it can be kind of hard to tell how a fight is going at times.

I think the real problem here, and the problem with the Anime's art in general, is lack of contrast and proper black levels. Everything just kind of looks bland and washed out, nothing pops out, and the sky is a sickly, ugly blue.
This is exacerbated by the fact that the manga makes very efficient use of color contrast, and characters are designed with that in mind, the covers of the manga have some colorful bits and some dark black parts, it gives the characters a sense of balance, even with a lot of detail.
To me, the issue with the anime is that it doesn't treat blacks as blacks, only as fuzzy browns and dark blues and that ruins the color balance of the whole damn thing.
Here's just a quick stab at it, I'm no photoshop wizard but I just messed with some hues and toned up the blacks. I think it looks better, all the Hashiras pop out against the background, there's stronger silhouettes, and the colors mesh together more nicely that they're saturated. Kind of looks like Bleach, to be honest, or something like Katanagatari, but those shows had good understanding of color balance and explicitly used bright colors to balance out their blacks.
