Unresolved plot threads and setups that go nowhere
>Hisoka and Gon never have a true battle after the Tower
>Killua never has it out with his family, especially Illumi
>Gon never actually uses his Rock Paper Scissor ability in a fight (Punching Pitou's dead head with it doesn't count)
>Phantom Thieves are never defeated
>Leorio never gets an actual plotline or even becomes a doctor
>That little weird chick following Kurapica never gets turned back into her original form
I could go on, but holy shit. This show just didn't know when to quit. Just countless ideas introduced with no resolution. Pure ADHD-core writing.
HxH is the LOST of anime

Never saw that one coming
Perhaps if it went on for 1000 episodes/chapters everything might come together nicely. But the trend thus far was to never resolve, only add more. 300 chapters in and not a single thread left for "later" ever amounted to anything. The misuse of Hisoka is probably the most egregious. If there was one clear thread through most of the anime it was him as a villain. Even that was dropped/deferred only to never be recovered.
Correct. Hisoka's final appearance in the anime is as a bit character who fights a minor character from the second arc and then just fades out as more plots are piled on to the finale. I don't recall him even interacting with Gon after the ant arc.
It's even worse when they have a throwaway line about Hisoka being "short sighted" to explain why he was not present in the ant arc at all, despite constantly looking for the strongest fights. Even Togashi realized that his absence in that arc made zero sense.
I sincerely hope this is bait
>story that is not over is not over yet
I had a stroke trying to process your superhuman logic OP but I think I managed.
>Implying this trash ever gets near the level of Lost
Comparing Lost to hxh is like that shitty soul/soulless 'meme' redditors keep trying to push.
Lost was boring and shit to.
This is not bait
based
At least in the current Boat Arc we don't have to deal with the worst MC in shounen
Holy fuck, based. Who would have expected that poor Killua is going to be NTR'd.
The problem is simply that Togashi gets bored of his own stories and then moves on to his next obsession. One day he wants to write a mafia story, the next day he wants to write a story about a very shitty MMO.
>Lost was boring and shit
Sure if you're an emotionless Chinese bugman.
youtube.com
Lost became way too cheesy starting S4 and almost seems like a parody of itself afterward.
The Leftovers is Lindelof's masterpiece
Very Boring
HxH frequently has anticlimactic "subversive" endings, its trash
It reminds me of watching Rick and Morty after the fans hyped it up and it just turns out to be this average show. That and my little pony, its not some masterpiece of literature its just a fucking shonen, if anything its mediocre
kek
>Perhaps if it went on for 1000 episodes/chapters everything might come together nicely. But the trend thus far was to never resolve, only add more. 300 chapters in and not a single thread left for "later" ever amounted to anything.
This espically insulting when you remember that for a moment Hisoka v Chrollo was two good call backs in on and Togashit still couldn't help but deliver an anti climactic ending for the sake of adding serveral more year endless set that is guaranteed not got anywhere by the close of this arc.
I wonder many mangakas could have gotten the rights to their series if it wasn't for togashi. Like I imagine everytime it comes up they remember how much he abused it to just be on endless vacation and dont want to deal with that again
Gon never fought Hisoka for real because he knew he was still too low level. He'd get absolutely murdered. Plot armor is very flimsy in HxH.
Same with Killua and Illumi. Though I would argue that Killua stands a better chance now that he's perfected God Speed.
Gon uses his RPS attack during the ant arc against Gyro's minions while Kite was still alive.
>Phantom theives
Wat?
Leorio has already become known and respected by everyone in the Hunter association after the part he played in the election. He could have become chairman if he really wanted to. I agree that he should have at least a small side story.
Melody is still active in the manga. There's a possibility of her finding a cure after the boat ride.
HxH is like real life, not everything gets neatly resolved in the end. Fans of the series appreciate it for that very reason. It allows the story to be way less predictable.
bump
m8 if you want the true LOST experience go read some of Urasawa's shit
Honesty this, but of course Pseudo intellectuals will claim it's all part of his genius, eccentric writing style.
Lost could have been a good show if it actually went on hiatus and had some time to write a good plot. Instead it went on for season after season of convoluted nonsense building up to nothing. Hunter X Hunter is like if Lost had time to properly build up a story.
Well, HxH deconstructs shounen, so there is no point in comparing it to other works. The CA arc specifically is designed to be a deconstruction of DBZ. But, the whole series basically deconstructs all the most classic shounen tropes:
>hunter exam gon gets his arm broken and passes out, gets told later how things went down
>zoldyck family ends with killua casually being let go after talking to his dad
>yorkshin ends without anybody getting a final fight, nothing is resolved, two spiders are dead but the rest just bounce
>greed island ends with that girl just dying anyway, they don't take any of the fabulous rewards they could have taken, and warp to kite instead of ging
>chimera ant ends with a nuclear bomb being deployed, the royal guards die off-screen and the king fucking gives up and lets himself die
>election ends with killua just being exempt from alluka's crazy bullshit, the election itself ends with the "villain" winning
>dark continent arc doesnt even feature the MC in the story, teases an expedition to a new continent, except it's actually about a succession struggle between princes from a small kingdom
don't forget the referee ended the fight early in heavens arena
I saw the 2011 version so this might have been their fuck up but I remember the two wanting to start over just for a new rule being introduced telling them they can't and so they just leave
>deconstructs
there's that word again. i guess anything can be excused if you're pseud enough to fall for this excuse. in reality it neither works playing it straight or as subversion. true patricians realize it claims to do neither and yet fails at both. it's just LOST written by an adhd retard. it's not smart and neither are you. real smooth brian hours
>>story didn't go with the predictable, generic route in storytelling
>it's shitty!
Shounenfags have shit taste as usual . Now concede, brainlet. You just didn't get the deconstructive nature of HxH, I'd suggest you to read more books but you probably prefer looking at pretty pictures so stick with Berserk or OPM
hows it feel having sub zero iq? go to college
nothing is more infuriating than people saying murata is a good artist
The real brianlet are the ones who accept deconstruction without question as brilliant without asking whether it is a useful or effective tool in the context in which it is employed. As an example, Star Wars uses post modernism to great effect in the original movie, but in increasingly shallow ways in the sequels.
Telling a shounen story with an "unpredictable" ending is just shitting the bed at the last minute. If there were actual creativity in HxH then entire arcs might be interesting and I don't know original. Instead, they are weak and forgettable, as evidenced by you describing each arc by le epic deconstructive ending and nothing else.
and yet the star wars movies made millions with their subversion. It's the ultimate form of writing. Just accept you are wrong, you have shit taste, and move on
Why are hunterchads always so quick to shut down discussion about hxh? It's almost like they're afraid.
Star Wars isn't subversive, retard. It's post modern. Also subversion by definition can't be the ultimate form of writing. You are a fucking pseud of the highest caliber and you are so stupid you don't even realize it. Real community college hours in here.
Nice non-sequitir, retard. Stop stumbling over words you don't understand. Every piece of worldbuilding in HxH serves a thematic purpose. Look at the Nen system itself, HxH is all about psychology, everything within the universe plays into the theme of expressing thoughts or emotions from Nen being para psychological in nature to deconstructing rockpaper scissors. Chrollo says that abilities' depend on the original owner's personal definitions. Example, he says that he thinks that a corpse is a puppet, but the original owner of Order Stamp did not. Kurapika has to ask the Little Eye owner what his definition of a Small Animal is.
Raher than playing the classic, cliched shounen tropes straight like Togashi's previous masterpiece YuYu Hakusho did, HxH subverts and deconstructs them. These terms may seem somewhat difficult to grasp to someone who does not have a higher education and is not well-versed in literary devices but even a less educated person can come to appreciate the subtle twists and nuance in the series when comparing it to examples of the genre being played straight.
I just realized that you're trolling. Are you transcribing some brony youtuber's thesis on HxH? I'll admit you had me going but this pure nonsensical cringe straight from the bottle my dude.
well the fanbase is basically the bronies of Yea Forums
Concede already, faggot. After all I don't need to convince you. Your opinion about weather it is a deconstruction or not is worthless to me. Everyone who has read it and is capable of logical thinking and has some knowledge about shounen, knows its a deconstruciton.
You'll see critics and journalists that write books about such subjects call the CA arc a deconstruction. I'll post some examples:
>While the series as a whole has received widespread praise,[134][135] the Chimera Ant arc in particular has been often singled out. In addition to being met with rave reviews, the arc has generated considerable discussion and analysis of its themes, symbols, characters and structure throughout and in the aftermath of its run. The arc is commonly viewed as a deconstruction of sh?nen and action anime;[136][137] other readings have focused on supposed symbolic parallels with Buddhism[138][139] and nuclear war. Nick Creamer compared the arc to a “war drama”. In a lengthy essay, Creamer read the arc as a study of, and in the end a simultaneous critique and defense of human nature.[140]
> Luke Halliday, in an examination of the character, describes his story as “an exploration into what it means to be human.”[141] In the piece, Halliday describes the King's development as “one of the most interesting and captivating in anime . . . [the King's] journey is simply unforgettable” and states his own belief that the arc “will go down as one of the greatest stories told in anime”.
togashi is a god of writing
we don't deserve him
Oh shit, he's quoting wikipedia, watch out
>plays chess once
>wtf i hate borders now
Wow that is so deep. I'm with her.
if you go to the source it's quoting it's just some turbo weeaboo autist
Literally 70% of all movies have already been there and done the "humans are the real monsters" theme. Also
>muh atom bomb
Fucking let it go Togashi it was 80 years ago and you bombed Pearl Harbor first.
The best part is that they didn't need to use the atomic bomb to kill the villain. Everyone knew who he was, they could have all made specific nen contracts for powers to use against him alone and become god tier powerful but they didn't. It's like everyone becomes retarded and forgets how nen works when convenient
>they could have all made specific nen contracts for powers to use against him alone and become god tier powerful but they didn't.
That's not how that power up works and the current arc shows why that idea isn't as great as you think it is.
Yeah, it's better to have chimera perfect cell to rule the world instead
is this the fabled hunter iq?
>Hisoka and Gon never have a true battle after the Tower
20 years from now.
>Killua never has it out with his family, especially Illumi
27 years from now.
>Killua never has it out with his family, especially Illumi
31 years from now.
>Leorio never gets an actual plotline or even becomes a doctor
5 years from now.
The rest are literally ???? those arnt plots.
>DURR DURR NOT HOW IT WERKS
but it is, dumbass
You can tell he's nervous when he starts samefagging multiple replies
it literally is, the more restrictive the power the stronger it becomes. As does adding consequences to it. You could make a nen power to use a single person and have the consequence be death if you break it and it'd be god tier powerful.
>Fans of the series appreciate it for that very reason.
Just you, buddy.
>Gyro's minions
What?
So what if I made a nen contract for a power to use against a single person, only once, at a certain time, and at a certain place and if I fail I die?
you're get a god tier probably and one shot most anyone
You realize that the boost you get from restrictions is proportional to your own potential right? Most nen users are not gifted like Gon I'd and the story goes out of its way to point this out.
And even then if you do make a new condition you have to be willing to kill yourself for it to be that much of an increase. Most people want to live after fucking over their opponent. So the current arc has a bunch of literal suicide bombers who only have 1 target each in mind and it would still take months to kill their intended victim unless they are standing right in front of them. And we already know from the election arc that even the nen users of the association are pretty weak outside of the upper echelon which is why the largest faction is made up of the shitters and the few crazy competent people who are merely pretending.
But no, the average nen user wouldn't get a significant boost from sacrificing them self to power up.
It doesn't really matter if it's going to kill you if you or someone you care about are going to die anyway. Also this is the crux of the issue
>Most nen users are not gifted like Gon
that I have a problem. He's just another generic shonen mc born with special gifts
>He's just another generic shonen mc born with special gifts
Why do you think people like the side characters more? Seriously I enjoy HxH but Gon is fairly rote with his big draw being how the story frames his autism and uses it to show how fucked up it actually is.
My point is merely that if you want the same kind of power up you need that kind of potential. Gon has MC powers behind him and not everyone else has that consideration. You'll still get some boost but nothing god-like as some posters claim
