I will give you the honest answer: it's because Symphogear is an idol show without the idol plot. The BDs for this series has always been just the icing in terms of profit even at 10k average per season since it profits way more through mech/CD/singles/concert any way. On why it didnt really break off with the idol otaku and has remained steady with a decent dedicated fanbase (which mostly are Nanafags) instead was because it didn't really pander to the idolfag enough.

Fucking based! I wasn't there on day 1. In faact I'm a bit of a new fag to the franchise, hell I binged four seasons before XV aired. I thought s1 looked ugly, even though most fans claim it has the most soul. Hibiki, and her songs, were also a bit lack luster in s1, but she eventually grew on me and is my favorite geah. My favorite season's G but XV is a really close contender, it might be my favorite season depending on how it ends.
