I know translating junji ito's work to the big screen has always ended in shit, but I think there's a lot to look forward to for this one
>In black and white showing ultimate dedication to the source material >They're getting closer to the art style than ever before. Just look at those eyes (it's not perfect, but can you really blame them that much?) >Spend about 12-14 frames on something as small as a head turn, so the animation may not be so choppy vs the junji ito collection which was shit >Seeing the surreal world of uzumaki coming to life sounds like a treat in itself and isn't hindered by real-life limitations this time
Was honestly not very impressed with the trailer material that I saw... at all
Jason Roberts
Well it's just an announcement teaser, those don't normally show much.
Wyatt Parker
Yeah. I would have liked to see more animation. Big fan of the source material but I'm not too hyped about sitting through a power point version of it
Aaron Miller
What seals the deal for me is the Colin Stetson soundtrack. Dude nailed it in Hereditary, too.
Jason Clark
>westerners have their hands in development Don't worry, they'll find a way to fuck it up They always do.
Angel Gutierrez
What's the point of doing an anime if all you're doing is animating the black and white manga panels with distorsions on stills to make it looks like it's animated ?
Gavin Perez
>B&W retarded gimmick, excuse for animators not to fill in the color >4 episodes Jesus fuck how can they fit all 20 chapters into 4 episodes? There's only one answer. They won't. You can say goodbye to some of your favorite arcs. >Tweening bullshit Don't even get me started.
This shit is pure garbage. No sauce at all.
Jack Robinson
>retarded gimmick, excuse for animators not to fill in the color Are you retarded?
while 4 episodes is too short, there are a few substandard chapters that could be cut. The biggest problem is that they most likely wont be able to capture the "slow decent into madness" of the manga, which would kind of ruin it.
Jeremiah Lee
>while 4 episodes is too short i dont think you quite understand how grossly understated your statement is here
Xavier Morgan
They already confirmed they are going to cut shit, most likely the stand alone chapters
Justin Lee
This shit is going to be garbage from day 0
Landon Gray
>4 episodes fucking why?
Grayson Smith
just marathoned two volumes of tomie and the gimmick is starting to get stale. is part 3 worth it? noticed it came out way later
I think this was probably the weakest chapter of Uzumaki for me.
Michael Sullivan
I always envisioned Uzumaki in pastel colors. It would add to the dizziness of the spiral setting.
Luke Hall
Why don't they harness the spiral energy
Carter Russell
>Production IG America >Poonami yeah, no
Lucas Rodriguez
Some fucking crossboarder shitposting going on in the thread over a fucking PV. Let's point out some of the actual worthwhile information that indicates potential:
>Director worked on Mushishi and Aku no Hana, he knows how to work with uneasy tension >Ito deliberately chose Nagahama due to his familiarity with the director's work >Studio put together specifically for the project but presumably has a good amount of Production IG staff >Nagahama looking at it as a 2 hour movie split into 4 parts, so while cuts are inevitable they will be done within the frame of the whole narrative >an Uzumaki anime was never going to happen had Ito not been informed of Nagahama's interest
I do wish they were going with a longer runtime in the end.
Justin Nelson
from the Ito universe. You do not play with that shit. Ever.
Connor Long
Oh, so episodes are 30 mins long? That’s more like 6 normal episodes, then.
