Still the best anime of all time. Prove me wrong.
Still the best anime of all time. Prove me wrong
What do I get if I do?
It's a low tier comedy by today's standards.
It was surpassed by dozens of anime inspired or influenced by it in some way.
Nichijou was the logical conclusion to Azumanga Daioh's artform.
It was so good, the author decided it will be his last anime ever.
look at what an epic old fag I am XD
>by today's standards.
This show is funnier and more charming then 90% of the shit they pump out nowadays.
I hear this all the time, but makes an anime charming?
90% of anime is shit irregardless of the era it was made in.
Fun fact, go watch old anime, it's shit as a rule of thumb.
the pervert teacher ruins pretty much every scene hes in but every one else is a ton of fun and I really enjoyed watching it.
for me its how simple all everything is, no big crisis, to forced melodrama, no huge adventures, just kids being kids. Probably the reason people like Yotsuaba.
I'm with you, OP. Sure, there's other things out right now, but Azumanga reminds me of a simpler, better time. And it will never come back. ;_;
this place wouldnt be the same without it
You equivocating like a mofo OP
It wasn't even the best one for that at the time, and iyashikei has come a long way nowadays.
Still pretty good.
my only experience with the genere is those 2 and I only ever watched the anime of AD. So its coming from someone with surface level experience with it.
>It wasn't even the best one for that at the time
Prove it. Name me some.
>iyashikei has come a long way nowadays
Like what?

>omgggggggg

>Aria (Best anime ever right here OP)
Much better than AD, but nah. Some of the other stuff from your list is better.
Too energetic, that's why i didn't put Yuyushiki, yurus, gochiusa or kinmoza
Depends on what you are looking for.
I'd say K-On, LS, Acchi Kocchi, A-Channel, and Minami-ke are SoL first and foremost, rather than recommending them for iyashikei. Not that they're mutually exclusive, I think just don't think they fit like the others do.
Also, it may be hypocritical but I'd nominate
Master Keaton
Shigofumi
Mushishi
Kino no Tabi
and Violet Evergarden
Some of them I believe are iyashikei in that they resolve moral dilemmas in a heart-string-pulling way.
>Shigofumi
>Mushishi
>Kino no Tabi
Fuck me forgot about this ones
Well, it's a gradient really, healing as pure healing is not that common, and besides OP pit azumangah forward so he'll like these too, azumangah is the most energetic by far.
But i agree they are not as "healing" as the others
I haven't yet watched it, but I saw a really funny driving clip
ground zero of the moe explosion
>it's a gradient
True, and it depends on the person. What heals me may not be what heals you.
Some of the shows are better described as "morally grey MC resolves episodic dilemmas."
As you said, how energetic the characters are makes an important difference from SoL to iyashikei.
Not even close user, don't speak about stuff you don't understand.
>or me its how simple all everything is, no big crisis, to forced melodrama
Did we watch the same show?
Ambiance is really important too, how characters interact and conflict being important too.
Another thing almost every one of those have in common is the absence of an antagonist, often the "antagonist" is a metaphysical concept like the passage of time or separation from loved ones, things the viewer might be anxious about.
i didn't call it the first moe, just that it seemed to be where things started to get out of hand. also, stop posting pictures of my wife. thanks.
I find that melancholy ambiances work pretty well for iyashikei.
Possibly bordering on mundane, like NieA_7.
Speaking of inanimate antagonists, Binchou-tan is another good one.
Neither, that'd be ARGUABLY sailor moon, but it was always like that, if you saw macross nowadays without knowing what it is and with retouched visuals you'd think it's moeshit for waifufaggots, don't make me dig up those old BBS posts from 1995 crying about how kawaii ruined anime.
That's on the backlog
There's a reason a lot are dystopias, hell, even aria is a dystopia
i'm sticking to my guns that somewhere around azumanga/k-on is where the mass produced frenzy began, there is cute stuff like aim for the ace going back a long time, but no where near in proportion to the quantity now. if you have a lot of anime just look backwards chronologically.
Dirty pair, gunsmith cats, the ridiculous ammount of mahou shoujo stuff being oumped out in the 90s, tenchi, oh my goddess, ranma, yawara, etc.
Just accept it user, old anime is only seen as less moe because of how carefully curated it was
