My favourite this season, but you can tell that changing chapter order was detrimental to the tone. Episodes 1-6 feel like a rather grounded historical drama (even with Thor’s being a superhero). So the tone shift in episode 7 back when the manga was a full-on action shonen feels REALLY out of place with Thorfinn becoming a Norse Ninja, the Fat Frank, and Askeladd being a wacky pirate. The two main characters relationship feels pretty off as well, where to the viewer this guys killed Thorfin’s dad just a couple of weeks ago, but Thorfinn behaves as if he just owes him money or something.

Still, great show overall. One of my favourites this year

Given the pace of the anime they'd likely use 24 episodes too, but that includes farmland, homecoming and maybe even the start of merchant/Baltic sea/waifu arc

Sadly he is kinda still of a joke in the anime and I doubt we will feel the noose tightening around Askelad's throat as the episodes pass by, especially as we saw the length he was going to go to escape Thorkell's group.

So far, I must not have been the only one who was disappointed with the anime right? It feels really meh/average and none of the scene have made a lasting impact for me (either because I have already red the manga or that I have taken off me nostalgia googles off).

Really happy with the adaptation so far, aside from some QUALITY (too bad episode 6 was KINO as fuck but Thorfinn's timeskip montage could have looked much better) and the obvious tonal shift going from the darker flashback with Thors to the tropey shounen beginnings of the manga starting with episode 7.
You can tell that the staff is doing their best to make it a good adaptation. I'd even say that some of the characterization is better depicted in the anime.

This map is terribly misleading. There was no mass migration of people from the Near East Asian region into continental Europe 7,000 years ago. However, 7,000BCE is the roughly estimated time when agricultural practice became normalized in the region between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. What this map is probably referencing is the spread of farming technology from that region to all parts of Europe, which happened over the course of the next 3,000 years and was facilitated by seafaring merchants travelling through the Mediterranean, Caspian and Black seas bringing with them tools and knowledge. Additionally, people have been spilling into Eastern Europe from the steppes and the Urals pretty much ad infinitum in history.

I'm the opposite, episodes 1 (beginning, end scenes), 4 (Thors and Askeladd fight, Thors's death, Thorfinn scream), 5 (Thorfinn trying to survive by himself and learning how to use his dagger), 6 (Thorfinn killing someone for the first time, timeskip montage, end scene with the English mom), 7 all felt super memorable for me.

Yeah but they add 5 minutes of filler to every episode while at the same time cutting content (chapter 1/episode 7) they only adapted 20 chapter in 10 episodes.

And they will still be adding filler, I really don't understand all this teasing of the england arc and canute, up till now, next episode we will again see him praying for a little and that's it because he's not introduced yet in the manga.

What I see as filler is something totally irrelevant to the main plot and does not advance the plot in any way. The anime-original content that's been added so far has added more characterization for Thorfinn and even characters like Björn get more screen time than they did in the manga. When I think of its shit like naruto or one-piece filled where they go do some random adventure that will never be referenced again later nor adds anything to the characters. Just my opinion though.
