What episode did you drop Gintama at? Please don't lie by saying that you watched all episodes.
What episode did you drop Gintama at? Please don't lie by saying that you watched all episodes
I have seen 369 episodes of Gintama
I've never watched a single episode or read a single chapter of Gintama.
It gets good about 170 episodes in, you just have to hang in there.
I have 2017 forever on hold aru
why drop? I just watch random episodes of it when I'm bored, that works for me.
Are you me? Because that's exactly what I was about to post.
this
It's the greatest fucking show ever. It surprises me how there never are any threads on Yea Forums about it. Maybe all of you just have terrible taste. There should be as many threads as there are HxH threads to be honest.
The arc with the prostitutes made me drop it. Gintama should have stuck to lowbrow comedy with some serious moments.
I watched every single episode....
except the genderbend episodes.
We used to get Gintama threads back when it was decent
why not skip the arc like someone who has a brain would do? Gintama sprinkles serious arcs, but majority of it is comedy.
Dropped it during the 2017 season. Watching through the 2015 season was a drag too, since the filler episodes went from great to boring and the serious arcs changed the whole mood of the anime.
I rewatched the entire thing 2 times
Is it even worth picking up?
Somewhere in last season
For anime, after the Shogun Assassination arc.
At that point I got fed up with the repetitive serious arcs in the manga and pretty much dropped Gintama entirely.
after kintoki episode in anime of course never bothered to read the manga
But I watched all episodes and I'm rewatching them again!
Watched it all, rewatch a few arcs time to time. I love watching random episodes from time to time.
I have seen a few episodes I don't know the number of as my roommate is a fan, didn't realy enjoy it. Seems like a lot of referential/lolrandom humour a la Family Guy/Rick and Morty. Is this accurate? If so I will not try to watch again.
This is where most people dropped the anime. I dropped it there also
japanese south park
I got through Tama Quest (ep 170) and got burnt out again. Not sure if I should pick it up right now or not since it's been a few months.
Define "gets good" because I've been enjoying it so far, it's just not going many places.
>dropping gintama
Even if the post 2014 was shit I watched it.
It's way more enjoyable if you've lived/been in japan. The show even admits most westerners don't get half the shit and it's true. I didn't realize how true the barbershop story was till I tried to get a haircut in japan and the people would literally not shut the fuck up and just cut my hair.
No I am not a JET teacher, no I don't care to make this an "experience", no I really do not care about your daughter, yes I am aware tokyo has changed a bit recently, no I don't watch baseball, just fucking cut my hair please
>Seems like a lot of referential/lolrandom humour a la Family Guy/Rick and Morty. Is this accurate?
It's more like the simpsons when the simpsons were good with a lot of historical humor and jokes on society of japan being torn between western influence and the bullshit they did in ww2. If you don't know japanese history or culture 90% of the character jokes, story locations, read JUMP! and play on society will do nothing for you and it will seem LOL XD RANDOM!!! Unless you're somewhat invested into the life style japan dishes out then most the show will fall flat
Episode 1
Jokes become funnier, characters become more interesting. Seems like more effort is put into each individual arc.
Gintama used to be very good for a long time, but the early episodes were boring and quality declined after the 6th season.
I watched it all.
No regrets.
You're joking, right?
Stalled at 345.
>Define "gets good" because I've been enjoying it so far, it's just not going many places.
I had the same problem, but i carried on until the Benizakura Arc (ep 59) began, that's when it started to get really good; a real action arc with Gintoki showing off his combat skills.
After that the quality begins to rise until it reaches it's peak at the Hosen arc (139 - 146) quality remains good until ep 265.
The first 50 or so episodes are to establish running jokes and introduce running characters, it's ridiculous. If you want to know how good the series is, watch the Benizakura arc (first serious arc) or the Hosen arc (best arc).
If you still don't like it, just drop it.
I watched all of it, but it took me several years and I didn't watch it in any particular order. That's how I enjoyed it
I stopped reading after the shogun died.
What did I miss?
How much Nobume was there after that?
Literally watched every single episode. It should have ended when the Shouyou died, or shortly after with an epilogue, but the damn monkey didn't want to end it on a serious note.
Right when the shogun assassination arc started, AKA when Gintama went from being a comedy series with some action to an extremely generic battle shounen.
never seen a single one, so i guess i win
nice bait, you caused my posting at
Got to episode 4 and then quit because it sucked
I plan on watching it very soon, but I'm cutting all of the filler and only watching the Sunrise seasons.
I dropped it at episode 7 then a few years later gave it a try again and I loved it
I have seen every episode so far
Watched it all 3 times, and read up to the ending
>he can't binge watch gintama
get on my level, i cought up gintama in a month just before the last arc
it's trash, but i fucking love this trash
This casual fuck can't fathom the greatness that is Gintama and that there are people on this board right now that can watch a series that is over 300 episodes like its breathing air.
no one likes the first few seasons user. No one.
I rewatched all episodes several times.
They have some good episodes that make them worth watching, like that Death Note parody one. Also like some user said, the first few seasons are what they are in order to establish the characters and the reoccurring jokes.
I liked it from the first episode, and even we discard that, Gengai's arc already contains 90% essence of the series.
The last episode I remember seeing was the one where Gintoki and Kagura ended up working at a hair salon and the Emperor showed up and they shaved him bald. Forget why I stopped watching, that shit was funny as fuck. I need to pick it back up.
shogun episodes were fucking gold
Episode 1
I've never dropped it. I'm just going through it at a snail's pace since I have a massive backlog of series I'm trying to go through simultaneously.
>drop Gintama
I don't remember. But I did stop when the jokes started to get too much dependent on pop-culture references.
Currently at 180, and i don't intend to drop it
user, i don't think there's a baboon out there who can think of dropping Gintama once he watches it.
It only gets better the more you watch
I never picked it up.
Dropped it around episode 20-ish.
Around 5 episodes in
The studio changing killed it for me. I have never seen such a drop in quality. I rewatched the first 200 episodes maybe 10 times, i still have it in my hard drive. The next season is still quite funny. But then the studio changes and the animation quality literally dies. I dropped it during that shinigami arc.
It's still in my top 5 tho and i still watch random episodes.
Imagine skipping some quality Gintama content.
I only read the mango. I really like it but rarely bother watching any anime. Is it that good and worth the time?
>missing out on one of the most hilarious arc
Sad
but i have seen all the episodes
never
Just waiting the new season
it got to the point where it was a chore to watch episodes and i wasn't even paying attention anymore and letting it run in the background. feels like you gotta be japanese to enjoy this shit.
i watched all of one piece twice barring the filler of course. i watched the dbz like 20 times in its entirety. i watched all of detective conan. it's not the episode number it's just that it's fucking gintama.
This. Gintama was never top quality even during Sunrise era, but when they switched to Bandai Namco it was the first time things looked cheap, the character designs got skinnier and lost that "gintama" look, and writing got worse as well. I just tried watching that love potion OVA or whatever, and even though there were so many chances for funny scenes somehow none of the jokes landed. There was just something that was off.
I did watch them all.
I have watched ALL the episodes, sans eps1 and 2. I have also seen all the movies, including live action one.
I've watched until 328 I think, or something around that. Still need to catch up with the last 3 seasons. I will probably rewatch the whole thing at some point
Is that the Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Cannon? It's very well done, yo!
