Here's the thing about Endeavor's "abuse", it's mostly neglect and ignoring most of his family. This isn't like your white trash physical abuse dad scenario. They only times he's stricken his family is pushing Shoto too hard during training, and that one time Rei tried to convince him to abandon his insane crusade.

From what I can tell, Endeavor is basically a man that was always seen as Number 2. No matter what he did, he would always be overshadowed by All Might. He might have held better ideals earlier in his life, but the constant Number 2 status drove him to try and get a child that can surpass the power of All Might. So, he married Rei to get a strong child that can surpass All Might. He was so obsessed that he failed to realize he had a family that still loved him to an extent. Once, he got Shoto, he tried to train him, which failed. His wife went crazy from basically neglect. And, the fans make him seem much worse.

See no one denies that Endeavor is, or at least was, a complete piece of shit. The problem is that a good chunk of the fandom projects their own father issues onto the character. Also I don't put all the blame on Endeavor for Rei's mental state. There's a good chance she had issues before the marriage, which Endeavor didn't help. At the end of the day, she still scalded her own son because she was resentful to her husband for ignoring her.
But see that conflicts with Ochako's current motivation. She now wants to help more people after being inspired by Deku
