What are your thoughts on Symphogear Yea Forums? Would rather ask you as a whole rather than the the shitty loud fanbase. I remember watching the first season and thought it was really stupid with quality issues, then watched the second season which seemed to improve it and it turned stupid again in season 3 and had to drop it as subs would take forever to come out.

If you like camp, it's fun. If you don't, the effort to keep up with the callbacks and supplemental material to get the full picture won't be worth it.

It's like an action/musical B movie, basically old Jackie Chan flicks but without Jackie Chan.

Cute characters, decent music, campy action, horrendous writing.

It's great if you aren't a pretentious child who only likes serious works for adults such as yourself. Overall it's easily my new anime franchise of the 2010s

It's alright, but needs more DMJii.

It's one of my favorite anime series, but it's hard to explain why without giving the impression that I'm watching it ironically

It's a tremendously funny series with a great cast of characters that it's also proud of being dumb as fuck

Attached: 4Lfs7UGhU.jpg (1040x400, 99K)

>dumb
I want this meme to die. So many people ask dumb questions because they believe in the "turn your brain off" meme.
It's just honest with being over the top

Saying the show isn't dumb because genuine retards struggle to follow it is a pretty low bar.

You're shitty.

I think that Maria is my facesitter.

She was so handsome this week.

Like one user said, its deep enough when you scratch the surface and its really connected well with everything they say having some meaning in the end with callbacks, fanservice thats actually good and emotional, great action scenes and maybe the best fucking voice acting and songs in the medium on top of crazy chemistry.
Its cheese and i love cheese, its honest with what it is and it does it perfectly.

Maria was great this episode, user i will admit i didnt care for Maria until AXZ and now im really happy she is a part of the cast and this season she really did end up being cool.

did she finally stop jobbing?

wtf I love Maria now

She was cool, but don't ask for the impossible.

>Genjuro-tier warrior sucker punching unarmed Maria
how is that jobbing
fuck Fudo, hitting women in the back

She let her guard down by removing her gear when she really shouldn't have.

I like it and have watched every season as they aired, but there's something really bland about it despite all the hype and crazy twists. Nothing seems to have lasting consequences after the first season. Maybe the villain of the week that each new season introduced dies, but they didn't get that much development to begin with. Every season resets and retreads the same tired character arcs for its protagonists. Every hype cliffhanger gets resolved with little impact the very next episode. It all blends together into a bright and beautiful sounding blur.

The first season avoided this by being fresh and actually making huge changes to its characters across the season, but from the second onward it's covered shockingly little ground for a plot based character focused anime with 5 seasons. I'd probably give it an 8/10 overall if you forced me to give it a number value, so don't think I dislike it, but I feel like it comes so close to greatness and just doesn't have what it takes to leave a lasting impression.

Depending on where she got hit, she might not even feel it that much.

BEGONE THOT

why must Tsubasa suffer? Why can't she just be a happy sword wing?

it's nanoha but with singing

Yeah, hard to feel anything with a broken spine.

Our girl got to shine without abandoning her philosophy. She's still a jobber but also will seek out strength to reach to her loved ones.

She's our beloved sweet tomato.

A sword needs to be hardened before it can be used.

>Would rather ask you as a whole rather than the the shitty loud fanbase.
You could just be honest and say you're afraid of having your opinions disagreed with and criticized in the main thread, but whatever floats your boat.

It makes me wish that there was more Wild Arms.

Ma-ri-a, you better be sure to take responsibility

That chart is not about origins, just a fun "if you blended X and Y you'd get Z" kinda thing.

Maria Cadanzavna Kohinata

>Gundam invented mech anime
>Sailor Moon invented magical girl anime
Why are you this stupid?

I get what you mean. S1 will always be my favorite because of that. But even if other seasons are not as tight as the first one, I still can't help but love the show. It's so much more than just the plot.

Tsubasa Castlevania Eve

>tfw never played WA
I'm saving it for the inevitable Symphogear withdrawal.

Kazanari Chris (Genjuro, not Tsubasa, you dyke loving queers)

Tsubasa akumajou dracula Eve

90% of nu/a/ would struggle to get over 90 IQ. lt's fuII of subhuman spics and other trash now.

It's all uphill from here, right?

>literally lost her way of life and her only family left
Wouldn't be surprised if she runs off into the mountains to cry for an episode

She has a home and a family user just not the blood related type

That's what she needs to realize after an episode of self introspection

A sheath and a whetstone.

I hope they get some downtime for the next episode, they can find the monster girls down there and Miku goes to the moon so we can get Tsubasa time to wind down and Dess could use a scene or two.
They both need to realize the same thing now so.

>Kiri gives her some pep talk about how she never knew her family so she's jealous that Tsubasa has a pap(Bro) that loves her enough to do that even if the pain of losing them was that great.

love live isn't that influential. it got BTFO by idolm@ster.

There's a lot of callbacks and parallels to Wild Arms in Symphogear. Just remember that WA1 is a really early 3D JRPG, and WA2's translation isn't really the best. WA5 has a Nana OP.

Attached: Hibiki and Miku.png (734x1025, 920K)

And now that Tsubasa lost hers they both get the "we are family to each other" shit, they hug and cry and thats it

I remember watching all 4 season when AXZ came out and what stuck me the most were the asspulls. It was an anime like the others for me with the countless anime I watched. Then something switched inside of me. I realized that anime even extremely popular one like Re:Zero would fall into oblivion for me and remember about them only when a thread popped up on the catalog. While for Symphogear it was like my brain was begging to remember it, I would have these urges to listen to the OPs from the first to the last from time to time. It was ultimately the anime that made me realize what anime was all about and made me stop following trends and bitching about muh writing, muh objectively good. Now It probably became one of my favourite anime if not my absolute favourite.

What's the best WA to start with if you want something similar to Symphogear?

>remember that WA1 is a really early 3D JRPG
I was already playing JRPGs before they were even 3D, so I'll be okay.
>WA2's translation isn't really the best
That sucks. Good thing I'm not an EOP.

Well all the biggest parallels come from 2.

Attached: Biki blazer.png (700x800, 653K)

2 would be a very good starting point, a good chunk of Symphogear S1 and G are really close. Things like Hibiki and Miku's relationship, the way that the MC gets their power, a lot of names, crazy white haired scientist doing things, and other fun things. One of the characters in WA2 also shares Hibiki's "heiki hecchara" catchphrase, including using it at times when things aren't really all right at all.

Prichan is really out of place there.

Season 1 is fine. It has quality issues and a few writing issues, but it's the most ballsier and genuine of the first four seasons because it wasn't a large franchise yet and could get away with things that would otherwise upset fans if it were an established series. Solid 7/10
Season 2 is better than the first one in nearly every way and improves on a lot of the flaws of the first season. Not much to really comment on besides if you liked the first season, you'll like this season just as much, maybe more. 8/10.
Season 3 is extremely inconsistent with its narrative, resets or stagnates a lot of character arcs and introduces things and focuses on things that completely go against the spirit of the anime. Main villain's motives are extremely generic (not that the previous villains were exemplary villains) and the season was entirely carried by a returning villain from the previous season. This season and the next season suffer from feeling like a franchise and adhering to a formula and playing some things safe. 4/10. Has plenty of good moments but its bad moments are really, really bad.
Season 4 is just a generally good season. It doesn't retcon, but it straight up ignores a lot of the garbage from the previous season. It's shaky in some places and suffers from feeling formulaic and too safe at times. Looking back, this season mostly feels like a set-up for the current season. 7/10.
Season 5 is off the rails since it's the confirmed final season, the pacing is ridiculous and it's filled to the brim with parallels and plot threads from the previous seasons. It's also the most ballsy and least formulaic season since Season 1. Budget's also a lot higher so the animation is much more consistently on point. The drama, action and stakes are the highest they've ever been. The last five episodes feel like five season finales in a row. It also redeems a lot of the garbage from the third season. 9/10 so far but could go down depending on how it ends.

I don't agree with the statement that characters retread the same arcs or that they've covered little ground, but I get where you and even other fans who say this are coming from. I attribute it to the fact that from S2 onward they were in it for the long haul while it was clearly planned to end at S1 originally. When you compare the cast from S1 from XV (and listen to their CDs) it's easy to see how much they've all grown, but it's not as immediately obvious in between seasons.

This
especially in AXZ the group songs like the FIS team show a lot of it, Dess and Jii open up a lot by that point and finally feel like they found their place, Chris is pretty much a grown woman and she had one of the most beautiful arcs in the medium personally

>You could just be honest and say you're afraid of having your opinions disagreed with and criticized in the main thread
No, I think OP has a point. Asking in the main thread which is full of people who already like the show is just asking to get shit own for even daring to question the quality of the show they already like, otherwise why would they be in the thread about it.

>Season 2 is better than the first one in nearly every way
I honestly disagree with this. I'd rate it about as well as the first season

I'd give it slightly just the edge because I liked how the two teams felt tighter.
