I think it was called "Investor Z" it's by the Dragon Zakura author it's not perfect but a more impressive examination than manga usually performs.

It existed to an extent, but what she essentially did was standardize it.
e.g. cacao was there and used locally, but it wasn't a wide spread commodity. and people used things similar to banks, but it wasn't a standardized government backed bank.

but the main difference is its less to show how smart and amazing she is, its just the "change" to show she's brings something new, and the main "sugoi" comes from her work ethic rather than anything she supplies.

I tried reading this series but at some point after she invented chocolate, it felt like there was either a huge timeskip or a gap in the translation because the characters were talking about stuff that wasn't mentioned before, but we were expected to know.

SAO is a scapegoat because it was the major Isekai anime that got popular with normies during the Isekai-boom.
Log Horizon went on at the same time, but without the "you die in real life" garbage, normies wouldn't be able to pull themselves away from GoTs to watch it.

I read one story where the women had their own thoughts on the matter. One loved the idea of having more people to be around her, while another didn't mind, but she was a bit jealous of how she was treated compared to the "cuter" girls.

I'd love to see the politics of an actual harem of younger women who have only known their boyfriend for a year at most explored in more stories. Do all the women decide to stay 100% of the time and either act purely friendly or purely petty to each other?

Enjoyed it for a bit, but gave up because all the Earth Isekai members felt extremely weak and powerless. I'm pretty sure the author is a woman, the MC is, and it shows in the story where the character is constantly powerless and barely managed to pull it through. Don't know how much it changed later on, but I read enough of it to say you'd have to enjoy a particular kind of isekai to like it.
By the time I dropped it, I decided I didn't like it, but it did do some things well. I just can't stand to see a story told through the eyes of someone who can barely interact or change that story. Meh.

I dont get the FOTM appeals. But what draws me is how well developed the side characters are.
When you have characters that have their own goals and desires that are unrelated to the MC it makes the world feel more natural plus you care about all the characters more.

It also matters how well they balance the good and the bad. Too many CHEAT protags are just pointless lazy Mary Sue's. A good isekai has challenges and detriments to actions that aren't easily solved or require some real character development in order to overcome.

A prince coming to save a girl who's just been running around the entire time doesnt feel satisfying or deserved. But when she's been working her hardest and reaches her breaking point where it's impossible to overcome, and a knight comes to give her that small push to get over that barrier, it makes it all the more appealing because there while she still won with her own power it was only because she was able to open her heart.

Global phenomena where people are getting warped temporarily to other worlds. Like an illness that spirits them away for a few hours each day. The world has gotten used to it and while a lot of people die, plenty of people make it through it.
MC gets caught up in it and finds himself getting sent to a comfy world. Ultimately the anime forces him to make a choice between what world he wants to live in. His indecisiveness results in him getting chopped in half as he was unsure what world to stay in, ruining all the emotional buildup with a splat.

In regards to manga, isekai never made it big, with the sole exception of Slime, which managed to BTFO even mid to high level JUMP titles.

when it comes to gooks I don't know probably Dungeon Defence? don't really like their stuff in general like volcanic age, your and my asylum solo leveling etc. They tend to have these hype moments but that's all they have going for them like I look back and can't find anymore why I liked them in the first place.

As for chinks I did like warlock of the magus world/age of adepts/LOTM and more. They probably have the best world building out of the three but fall apart when it comes to characters and their interactions that just feel stale in general.
