Not for UBW and HF they're not. The only changes they made in UBW were from Nasu himself. That adaptation was tight as fuck.

I seriously doubt all the shit they cut and then added to HF like Sakura's fantasy world was nasu.

Nah that's because the HF director is a massive Sakurafag and for some reason hates Kotomine and Illya. All the shit that's cut is specifically Kotomine and Illya related. The rest is accurate.

Well, Sakura's the main heroine of the route. And it's the longest route. And they have only 6 hours to tell its story.

Something has to get cut. And unfortunately, since Sakura gets effectively zero development in the other routes, it can't be Sakura-related stuff being cut.

If anyone's at fault, it's not the director. It's whichever executive decided he couldn't make the movies longer than 2 hours.

No that's not how "the heroine" works in F/SN. These are not dating sims. The world does not revolve around "the girl".

It's not that she needs to constantly be on-screen. Just that they can't really afford to cut any of her plot or character development. This is the only time she's going to get any.

I can think of several scenes they can shorten like the long unnecessary 1+ minute stills. Shorten them by a few seconds, and you have enough for an Illya or Kotomine scene who are just as important to the plot.

Alright, fair. There's a few too many stills for my taste, too. But it would be bad if they rushed through everything too, and I wouldn't want them to rush through an important Kirei/Ilya scene just because they thought they could fit it into the few seconds they shaved off the stills.

There's exactly one worthwhile Illya scene and zero worthwhile Kirei scenes that got cut. And the Illya scene has a decent chance of appearing in HF3.

Rin's shortened infodump got folded into the same scene where she memorycucks Sakura. This massively shortened things, allowing Kirei's scene to be skipped entirely. So, the total screen time was substantially shortened, all the necessary information was kept, and no character development was lost because it was just a damn infodump in the first place.

The whole point of Kotomine continually helping Shirou is to prove the parallel between Shirou and Kotomine and establish Kotomine as someone he can begrudgingly trust in the 3rd movie, as well as increase the weight of the final beatdown.

Rin is the resident magic expert, she knows that kind of shit. There's a reason she's one of the two big infodumpers in the VN along with Kirei.
Maybe it was Rider, maybe it was Kirei. Who cares?
They had the whole journey from Einzbern Castle back to Shirou's house to get used to the concept. Sakura doesn't act like it's no big deal, Rin warns Shirou about what happens if he uses the arm, Shirou himself gets scared shitless when he tries to peel back the shroud a little.
Kirei is not the main character. Nothing about Shirou is compromised by not having Kirei infodump at him for a longer time.

Shirou vs Kotomine is just over the top GAR fanservice out of nowhere at the last minute, while making Liberation the final confrontation would be pure kino as a parallel to Rain (in fact, I'd wager the forced animation in Rain is to set up a parallel with Liberation where it's more warranted).

That's shit though. I'm excited for Rin to give Sakura her hug, but it would have been so much more meaningful to Rin's development if she kept her Tokiomi-induced magic autism.
