With the end fast approaching, will Yusaku be able to defeat Ai and once and for all surpass Yusei's record of the only undefeated MC in the franchise?
Episode 117: 交わらない道 – Majiwaranai Michi (Paths That Won’t Intersect) After finding out where Ai is, Yusaku heads to an island located on the outskirts of Den City, all by himself. Ai has already started making copies of himself on the island, using the SOLtiS he acquired from SOL Technologies. Ai reveals his motive for attacking humans, as well as all the thoughts he’s been keeping to himself. And now, with the future of the world on the line, Yusaku and Ai begin their first and final battle.
He must be one of the evilest Yugioh villains in years
Caleb Hall
Cute how small the Main Deck @Ignisters are.
Jonathan Ward
Is this really going to be the last duel of the series already? What was even the point of Ai sparing Blue Maiden if she wasn't even going to duel again?
Mason White
He wants to be excessively cruel because he can.
Joshua Jenkins
They knew her being comatose for the fourth time would piss people off, either that or they had plans for but they're not really good at planning
Kinda surprised that Perfectron didn't get a CG model during the Bohman and Playmaker R4 duel
Joshua Walker
Thanks for sharing, bro.
Ryan Jackson
I still wish they had created something that's not just DARK DECODE TALKER. All the other extra deck ignister look great though, especially the water and light ones.
Quickdraw here Send me your ygo related requests (try to leave some references, please). As always, I'll also take up some of the late ones at random. >rules No yaoi No yuri No genderbend These are really useful. Thanks for sharing!
Especially since Yusaku used Decode a grand total of once the previous season. And Ai shouldn't even remember that since it was after the backup was made.
Joseph Hall
Neos arm wrestling another monster.
Isaiah Murphy
The @Ignisters chilling and hanging out with their respective counterparts.
Carson Roberts
The backup new about the Neuron Link and shit. Probably it was updated at real time.
Xavier Cooper
Requesting trickstar and marincess monsters of your choice singing at a concert.
How did they make a wrestling-esque character so uncharismatic?
Blake Barnes
Rejji would combo him for 15 minutes while kaiba will just unga bunga otk him
Ryder Moore
Kaiba will try to summon as much as BEWDs cards as possible and go for an OTK, as usual. What happens next depends entirely on Lightings backrow to counter this.
Against Reiji, I think Lighting has no chance, Reiji has like the most solid backrow in comparison with the rest of the characters. Plus he specialized in anti-burn damage, and he always heals himself after every turn anyway, so I don't think Lighting can pull the HP=1 thing the same way he did with Revolver.
Why are all the monsters so big? Should I suppose those are the Summoned monster size rather than the real life size? Look at Blue slug compared to Blue Maiden's size.
Jeremiah Ramirez
He's kinda like some mustache twirling b tier murder mystery villain who had a very ace attorney-like rant and breakdown >it was me whodunit.... ALL of it & more! But something like that is still a league ahead of how banal and bad arc v's antagonists after reiji were
Camden Hernandez
WtF, I love Carly now
Nathaniel Phillips
>now Yikes
Anthony Gray
>Why are all the monsters so big? They're monsters. Think like you're summoning your guardian spirit familiar/avatar or something. If they're summoned in real life in AR I think they'd be that size too.
Charles Hughes
Therapist Revolver in a session with Soulburner on the couch.
Oliver Lopez
based lightningposter, great antagonist. he carried the entire season himself
Dylan Cox
This cross series duel talk makes me wish konami would do something casual and fanservice-y like seiyuu duels for the upcoming anniversary. Like cross-series VA duel videos that arent fully animated but show VN like images of the characters imposed on top of footage of the VAs dueling. Probably not ever going to happen tho
You're not thinking about how big they are because they're usually shown alone or at strange angles. Plus the lack of standard standing duels. They're monsters, so they're supposed to be mostly big.
I really wish a yugioh anime would explicitly take more advantage of the 'monster summoner' aesthetic of the game, since the entire basis of the game did come from literal magicians manifesting monsters.
Evan Richardson
You don't like VR sparkles being the primary mode of every yugioh anime?
Vrains and arc v visually are near future as in '5 years from now'. Synchro dimension pushed it a little more I guess but that entire arc looked ugly in terms of aesthetics
Ian James
It's not a real card. They're not going to waste cg modelers on that.
Lucas Anderson
>ZEXAL had the technology for casual space travel, interdimensional portals, and timestop on a literal citywide scale
Nathan Brown
What was he supposed to do? Melt lightning's heart?
He should have gotten another duel with Playmaker.
Hudson Richardson
I wish Takeru had debuted as a sort of villain seeking revenge and getting turned around by Yusaku.
Aaron Myers
Even though lightning was doomed to never connect with humans they could've expanded directly more on the 'why' with Jin. Like Jin being broken way back during LI cut off any possible relationship lightning couldve had, since their origins were connecting points for all the ignis
Xavier Robinson
Jin should have received the last duel of the season and defeated Lightning with encouragement from Yusaku. It would have been charming and lovely to see them bond.
Michael Gonzalez
>jinfags still trying to hold on to their useless plot device character lmao
Charles Torres
So why did the preview show a shot of Playmaker instead of Yusaku?
Dominic Moore
He feels more charming than any of the non incident children characters of the cast.
no, soulburner and playmaker are more charming than some literal plot device non character
Kayden Cruz
Ai is so goddamn hot.
Lincoln Flores
Aoi, Go and Emma are more charming sorry
Jackson Rogers
Just as I mentioned, all the lost incident children are really charming both for their looks and their background story that allowed for them to have strong motivations and feel charming rather than shitty attention whores trying to save the world for no reason and failing.
Isaac Cox
nah, non character plot devices aren't charming sorry
Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I think that's what he was going to be before Kaji.
Henry Ortiz
I hope we eventually get some background info about scrapped ideas and alternative ends.
Charles Hill
He's already been dealt with, Fubuki. Thanks, anyways though.
Luis Jones
I dont care about jin specifically, in talking about giving lightning a little more detail compared to spending the umpteenth episode of bohman dueling
Anthony Edwards
Vrains' characters better receive justice in a future tag force game.
It's pretty simple, really. Jin, Bohman, Haru, Takeru all became relevant at the same time, and take inspiration from the four heavenly kings. The four heavenly kings are often villains in anime, and it's weird to only have 3 out of 4 them be villains.
Liam Rivera
Gotta learn a little more about those. I really want to know the inspirations behind vrains' plot.
Henry Garcia
Will we ever get pregnancy mentioned again in YGO?
That's a very hard challenge. But the possibility isn't zero if they decide to bank everything on these last episodes.
Ethan Sullivan
How many more episodes until it ends?
Jonathan Wright
>no Noh nah
Zachary Murphy
They have a better connection than Jack and Yusei's rivalry, wouldn't be surprising.
Jackson Ramirez
They saved playmaker the whole season for this. I want yusaku to go all out and get a great final duel. Neo Storm Access upgrade soon.
Camden Sanchez
I've seen that fanartist's stuff for vrains and they put more soul into fanart than the writers into the show
Gavin Baker
Soulburner vs Revolver already did.
Owen Wilson
Assuming ygo7 is much brighter, instead of doing just plain genki again I wish they could put a spin on an openly optimistic MC. Maybe a Sawatari-type but like on the side of good
Brayden Jenkins
I wish they let new blood in. Many younger people are in love with the franchise and would make something with all their passion and love. The old writers are probably getting too rusty for this.
>No Noh >Yusaku is a poor character writing-wise >Ai evil just because The spark just isn't there. Playmaker Vs Ai will probably be at the same level as Reiji Vs Yuya
It's the power you get from drinking a certain alcoholic beverage
William Ramirez
What would your Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS Top 5 Duels be Yea Forums? Mine are
>1.Soulburner Vs Revolver >2.Playmaker Vs Akira >3.Playmaker Vs Revolver 2nd Duel >4.Soulburner Vs Bohman >5.Playmaker Vs Bohman
I'm sure Playmaker Vs Ai will make its way into the Top 5 and we all know if Konami does pic related for VRAINS Revolver Vs Go will be in because of Mirror Force
Basically this except swap out bohman duels with lightning's last two
Nicholas Gray
>1. Yusaku vs Revolver master duel 1 >2. Aoi vs Yusaku >3. Soulburner vs Revolver >4. Yusaku vs Bohman 4 >5. Ai vs Pandor
Charles Edwards
That apparently you don't know how to lurk, use Google, or pick up on context clues, but that's probably a bigger problem for you than it is for me.
Oliver Gutierrez
How many more episodes are there?
Jordan Harris
4
Jeremiah Bennett
Four episodes left if it ends on late September
Hudson Gomez
>PM vs Akira >Go vs Earth >PM vs BA >PM vs Revolver MD 2 >Spectre vs Lightning
Julian Kelly
Not him but why risk getting labeled as a weeb and start getting cringy weeb ads from googla?
Lincoln King
God I'll miss this show, never watched a single of it but looking at the next manga Yugioh is turning to an obvious #ad. Also I liked how at least they were teens at this show not kids, sad we're getting more children instead of 16 to 20 year olds since they don't hit the right demographic.
Maybe they didn't want the manga to be an imitation of the anime anymore. Or Yoshida doesn't feel like writing them.
Bentley Hill
I actually think it's not a bad idea to use the manga for a 'miscellaneous' kind of story that's more directly about the game rather than a narrative, due to how manga is a lot lower risk
Liam Reed
Lemme guess, you came from /dlg/.
William Nguyen
>Or Yoshida doesn't feel like writing them There was always Hikokubo. He wrote the 5Ds manga.
Hudson Kelly
What if we get a dm sequel or reboot, those wouldn't be kids.
Matthew Roberts
Christ, I wish Yugioh threads had less fucking crossboarders.
Daniel Sanders
>sequel never >reboot never ever We are getting a new cast. Why would they risk ruining the magic of the original ygo when they can just make yet another totally new world? They know people keep on watching it.
Nicholas Ortiz
>What if we get a dm sequel or reboot I'd rather that Yugioh not follow in the footsteps of Digimon's endless Adventure pandering.
Cameron King
Nostalgia cash.
Kevin Russell
>reboot Kill me. I'm so fucking tired of seeing shoddy reboots. The only thing the anime still has going for it is being a long anime original
Charles Rivera
Why have yugioh shows been so shit after 5d's ended?
Ayden Gonzalez
You got too old.
Liam Barnes
Why do you insist on having this argument every thread?
Jason Gray
>target's pre teens and children >little kuriboh "children's card game"
Kevin Murphy
Well dont encourage it with direct replies
Thomas Lee
Too soon man, that'd be phatetic.
Adrian Ward
It was toned down since duelist started.
Carson Carter
>20 years is too soon. They already did it with that movie in 2016.
Cameron Robinson
This. Any franchise that has at least a little dignity should wait at least 30 years before doing somethig like a sequel of their OG and ~50 for a reboot.
Jayden Powell
A movie has a decent ammount of budget and it's just a little story. A series is a whole other thing.
Oliver Watson
I hope they at least give us an irl ova in the 20th anniversary of vrains.
Movie was a direct sequel to the manga so it at least had some purpose for Kaiba, who with Atem more or less kickstarted this franchise I'd like to see the execs celebrate an anniversary in other external ways like bonus content or new support cards/packs for their cash grabs, instead of risking over meddling in the next anime and having everything fucking implode. AGAIN
William Ward
Can you literal subhuman faggot stay on your containment thread? Stop shitting /dng/ up with your shittaste and faggotry.
Jacob Brown
Based
Sebastian Phillips
Well I don't exactly have a bright outlook on the next series with this whole break thing. What's not fine for you or me might be fine with them.
Cameron Price
>AGAIN >Implode The cardgame and fanbase are the biggest they have ever been both OCG and TCG. As for the new anime, there's a reason they are taking a break this long.
I have no idea what dng is up to but if you're talking about a certain ban evading revolver anti, he's a plague here too
Oliver Parker
>Yugioh is turning to an obvious #ad. are you stupid ? it was always like that
Dominic Baker
Mostly fujonigger and soulcuck That anti-revolver is shitting on ocg because dragon is meta. Nobody take that mentally challenged faggot seriously
Kayden Lopez
Implode as in the anime's production circumstances and staff morale. Theyre still people in the end, I'm sure they'd like to work on a show that doesnt fucking suck I'm sure by this point the games and card game basically sell themselves but even in a purely capitalist perspective it's better to have a good advertisement with more eyes on it than something that's just being dragged along like a dead body
If DM gets a movie it seems fair to me that the sequels get OVAs.
Jacob Robinson
>the staff hate working on vrains You are talking out of your ass, bro. You clearly don't see the passion everyone but the writters poured and will keep pouring into VRAINS.
Camden Scott
Roboppi is the best blue haired boy we ever got. Right up there with Rua.
Nathan Sanders
And I'm saying those people would probably feel even better working on a decent show. Dont you think that all the visual artists deserve better writing? Maybe their shoddy outsource teams could get more inspired as well to draw better
Who said that? I'm just saying several of their outsource teams objectively struggle with drawing. Better writing has saved other anime with poor visuals, like Baby Steps
Joshua Davis
I'm really glad their investment on YGO paid off as they have created one of the biggest franchises of entertainment to ever come out of Japan.
Then what's this supposed to mean? >Maybe their shoddy outsource teams could get more inspired as well to draw better Drawing ability isn't tied to the writers.
Daniel Garcia
Yeah until that bump in the road where arc v turned itself into a laughing stock. Sales wise it doesnt matter much, but it definitely limits potential growth through the anime's intended purpose
Tyler Howard
Uh it's pretty straightforward? If the animators actually like the story and characters they're drawing, which is created by whoever the writers are, maybe they'll be willing to put in more effort. I'm not talking about in house, since they already do a decent job
Joshua Stewart
How do you know they don't already like the story and characters already?
Leo Rivera
How do you know they do? Only going by what I see on screen from their outsource people, I would say they're feeling uninspired. I dont get why you're being contrarian about the most common complaint about vrains' visuals
> I dont get why you're being contrarian Because your premise is stupid. You think the writing is bad and that the outsource studios would draw better if they made the writing better. It's more or less saying "If I like the writing maybe they'll draw better."
Isaac Rodriguez
It's not a guarantee obviously, but animators are still people in the end. The writing in vrains is overall not good despite bright spots on occasion, that's not contested widely either
Oliver Parker
>PM vs Akira >PM vs Revolver 4 >SB vs Revolver 2 >PM vs Bohman 2 >Spectre vs Lightning
Was PM vs Akira really that good? I enjoyed other duels from s1 way more.
Sebastian King
>The writing in vrains is overall not good In your opinion of course. With those kind of logical leaps I don't know if I should take it in high regard.
Bentley Adams
I don't what you got from that, but the animation in that clip is not good.
Jason Peterson
There are levels of shamelesness YGO will never reach, bear that in mind.
Not him but it looks better than 90% nowadays anime can offer.
Luis Evans
I dont take any of vrains apologizing in high regard unless you're excusing some of the visual design and animation team with the production issues they deal with
The drawings of the monsters look good but it's literally just post production special effects laid on top of well drawn stills. Theres not much actual animation
Tyler Cooper
Been looking for those as well.
Isaac Torres
Fresh Jin to remind us all that not using him as an actual characters was a mistake.
To me PM vs akira was one of the few times in vrains where clash of character motivations, a little exposition, and the duel itself lined up in a good way
Does anyone remember that one weird non canon 5ds ova made to shill assault mode
Isaac Roberts
>in other external ways like bonus content God I really hope so. Do special key visuals, art books, merch other than keychains, cafe collabs or whatever. Heck, the Tokyo Olympics is next year, maybe do something with that. Just don't meddle with the anime.
Signs point to arc v's own problems originated in itself. Dsod took a few animators but the majority of key animators on the movie were one off freelancer hires. The projects never shared writers and directors unlike what happened with BBT >inb4 muh budget As long as the execs want the show on air they cant get around paying the necessary expenses when they're the ones who are most invested in that desire, or else the show simply wont happen.
Plus no one cared too much about shoddy animation in arc v as long as a few eps still looked good and the characters continued to be engaging. The japs were quite positive until you know what happened in 92.
Jose Cox
>You clearly don't see the passion everyone but the writters poured and will keep pouring into VRAINS. LMAO buddy VRAINS literally has the least PASSION put into with the exception of the last duel
Ryder Johnson
Remember how they animated that Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon duel
Carson Jenkins
I dont like to remember that portion of arc v, thanks
Xavier Flores
Any articles on that? I haven't watched any of 5ds yet but it it is an obscure video I better download it now before it becomes impossible to find on the internet.
It's a good thing that vrains isn't a prequel. What would that even look like, the adventures of sugoroku?
Charles Green
>in the assault mode ova Jack sets 4 cards and ends turn Felt super weird seeing any heavy backrow usage compared to these days
Cooper Howard
If you just want another anime comparison, ergo proxy is still either forgotten or not liked. Vrains doesnt have the meme shitpost value of arc v, so with time itll fall to the wayside and be ignored more than anything
He lost to a shiton of people. He is the most jobber protagonist we have had.
Wyatt Richardson
>I don't know what jobbing means
Jayden Wilson
What this user says
Leo Watson
I doubt it. Older yugioh anime didn't get this much discussion during airing. So many people still seem angry that they aren't liking the new shonen anime of the day.
Arc v is the one that incites anger and PTSD and it's mostly arc v habits that keep threads regular, it's not like any latest episode discussion is happening in here. Vrains is mostly apathy with maybe slight disdain as the holdover show sacrificed for the franchise
Anthony Sanchez
No I see plenty of posters angry with vrains here. Nothing else would drive the level of bitching we've experienced in the past week or so. I expect it to remain this way with the next series as well.
Ryan Wilson
if Ygo7 turns out to be Dm super does that mean Yea Forums and /dng/ got BTFO and /dlg/ won ?
Jayden Lopez
It's pretty tame and slow in here compared to the shitposting fests during arc v, those times were fucking wild and pretty much just as chaotic as the show. Or even an active dr stone thread from earlier this season was more chaotic. I think you're being dramatic
Xavier Anderson
That's only if you assume they like 2020 anime. Which they probably don't.
Cameron Young
None of them pay attention to a god damn thing. The other day one retard mixed up Yuma for Yuya. They are that blind to newer things
Josiah Hernandez
Super DM*
Aiden Ortiz
Even worse than the vulva and blue posting?
Liam Flores
Yes. I openly and straightforwardly do not wish that to happen. Mostly because by the time of DSOD, the DM characters both manga and anime are concluded. I bet some have thought of the boruto route but idk, I've always felt like "new MC as direct son of popular old MC" was always a too on the nose concept in a way I cant clearly explain. Like those fanfics about harry potter's offspring after the events of harry potter
Lincoln Smith
No, I'm not. Just because arc-v pissed off a lot of people doesn't mean a lot of people haven't come in here to bitch. And I think you're naive to think people will forget vrains when earlier series barely had any presence at all and are still remembered. Hell even the toei series is remembered.
Joshua James
That's one insane man screaming into a corner, it's not equivalent to the shared arc v hysteria
Jayden Scott
It's not that vrains will be scrubbed from memory but I just dont see what there is to talk about it some time after it's done. Unless it's about the external context of its sacrifice on the altar bc of production things
Grayson Diaz
>those times were fucking wild You know, I remember how in those times everyone wanted Arc-V to end just to start fresh with Vrains, praising Yoshida as the second coming and the one who would have revitalized the franchise. Also praised Yusaku for being a serious character more closer to Yusei than he was to Yuya. Now, that Vrains didn't live to the expectations of the people, the situation is more pessimistic in comparison, and a lot of people here lost the few hope they had. Basically people know right now that the options are null and we don't have new blood to revitalize the franchise and worse considering the budget and humans resources seems more scarce than what they had in former seasons.
Jayden Turner
Needless comparisons of characters and quality of anime, how people think yugioh anime has been bad for 8-9 years, legacy support, you just have to think a little bit.
Nolan Reed
I mean it's really up to if they can pull off ygo7 ok enough to generate some buzz I guess, not much to do about the situation as just a viewer. If the threads here die from unsustained interest thats how itll crumble. I do almost feel like ygo7 is in an even more precarious situation than vrains was for some reason. Feel kinda bad for whoever's going to be tackling that weight
Tyler Sanchez
The thing about vrains is that it doesnt reach the same extremes of low or high to be first choice comparison points tho, compared to other series
Jaxon Wright
depends on who you ask, I've seen people rank it below arc-v.
Henry Diaz
Implying MC can lose a ceremonial duel, ever
Adrian Butler
Judai lost his ceremonial duel.
Daniel Morgan
People will probably remember MR4 and Crow 2.0 the most.
Nicholas Parker
I think yusaku would be a lot less ragged on or at least more accepted if the rest of the cast was a lot more consistently strong. Overall he was a lot less preachy, since in s1 he was making statements from his perspective as a wounded individual who needs closure.
>Those times where Janime raged at this duel and the identity of Z-One
Dominic Reed
>Red Dragon Archfiend got BTFO so hard by Junk Warrior that his arm never fully recovered and he had to gain an effect just to counter monsters like him
Junk Warrior was one of the best, if not the best, aces in the entire franchise. Back then when aces truly represented the characters' personalities and ideals.
Fast forward to S3 and Revolver and Yusaku barely talked to each other unless it's about plot exposition. Meanwhile Revolver got a lot of meaningful interaction with Soulburner.
Matthew Campbell
Destiny HEROs are garbage, so any good card was going to be tied to a shit archetype, anyway. Same with Cyber Angels. I think they should have given his White Night deck to Asuka instead of Cyber Angels, even if it was thematically not correct. The problem The problem were Crow and Kaito. Maybe they didn't want to overshadow other decks or they didn't want to overpower old decks more than they were at that time.
Luke Gomez
That ending was great. Nice to see junk warrior being the first and last synchro summon at the same place. youtube.com/watch?v=VxaZqyv6wac
Link-6 code talker that treats itself as all attributes besides divine vs firewall dragon darkfluid
Aiden Robinson
I am surprised in how very few upgrades Yusaku has used in the anime. At this point all the protags have had at least 3 upgrades of their aces and, sometimes, a lot more side variants. Yusaku only relevant upgrade is Darkfluid and it has been used only once. And considering there will be no Vrains manga, he is doomed to only have his anime cards.
Samuel Thompson
Neos didn't have upgrades.
Andrew Taylor
All of the contact fusions were his upgrades even if they were shit.
Adrian Robinson
Those are different fusions not straight upgrades. rituals and fusions don't really feel like they have upgrades.
Leo Kelly
Does anyone have his duel count compared to other protags By the show being shorter it will be lower, but I wonder by how much
John Torres
The fewer number of upgrades is potentially another side effect of the show getting shortened Contact fusion was the upgrade to regular fusion, and the three Neos that were triple contact fusions was the upgrade to that. Culminating of course in Divine Neos
Chase Wood
He had a duel puzzle, not many protagonists have that.
Isaac Roberts
I've never seen such a meteoric rise in fanart since the Yuzu girls.
The 2500 ATK Cyberse were all more or less considered his aces.
Jordan Wilson
It just didn't seem like there was a ton of emphasis on surpassing oneself. All the fusions didn't feel like upgrades they just felt like alternate forms. They rarely made a big deal out of most of them either. Now super polymerization feels like an upgrade to polymerization, but that's different.
Julian Brown
Oh yeah, they didn't really go for the "surpass yourself for new boss monster" thing until 5Ds onward. The most you got like that for fusion was stuff like Neos Wiseman and Rainbow Neos (and to a way lesser extent UFOroid Fighter) where it was the representation of a strong bond between two characters.
Leo Rodriguez
Yeah they weren't really working with an upgrade mentality in mind. Closest thing they had was level monsters.
the whole firewall thing was a mess players kept pressuring konami to ban it all year but he was protected by shueisha cards were hit instead of it for just so he can dodge the banlist
Wyatt Ward
Well they finally jailed him now Although I dont get why they didnt just errata and reprint. Whatever
firewall with a HOPT can still be powerful i think konami just doesn't want to bother risking it and starting the whole problem all over again it's obvious they didn't want those alternative arts since the tcg banned firewall before the ocg did
Colton Ortiz
>revolver losing to soulburner with a link 5 would have been even more of a joke
He'll pull a yusei where he solves the problem of AI for humanity in a quick epilogue
Asher Cox
With rage, yes.
Bentley Nguyen
Is Yusei the protagonist with the clearest mind?
Tyler Rivera
If you ignore the manga, yes.
Juan Smith
They wrote a whole song about it
Carson King
I can't believe we're getting the final batch of spoilers this month...
Nolan Lopez
Technically Vrains ends this month.
Xavier Powell
RIP vrains
Ryan Lewis
He never really got invested in any of his monsters. Even when Decode "this is the first time I'm using it this season" Talker gets a retrain or Firewall "the base version isn't even summoned" Dragon gets a Link-5, it needs a bunch of exposition about why the card is important because that isn't self-evident.
Anthony Ortiz
Can somebody explain to me the appeal of vrains?
Evan Reed
>Ai >It's not Arc-V's final third >Stockholm Syndrome
Nolan Ross
It has none, It's a boring version of Zexal.
Sebastian Brooks
>zexal How, the plot is a lot more single tracked with a much smaller cast It's most similar to 5ds in tone
Blake Long
recaps, and b l u e j o b b e r s, ignore goh, hes unrelevant
>Zexal >Not the other one where they do a special type of dueling while mobile and MC never loses
Nolan Watson
For me, I genuinely like the characters, the soundtrack is great, and watching week to week helps in the enjoyment.
Matthew Garcia
Uhhhh the episodes that were animated in-house look nice and have cool momemts for the monsters
Joshua Foster
Almost every serial show is much easier to keep interest in with binge watching. Glaring flaws or missing pieces are easier to just glide over
Jonathan Diaz
That's true but I really like the discussion and speculation that comes with weekly watching. You can't ever get that again when the show's over.
Zachary Kelly
I FUCKING LOVE AI I FUCKING LOVE VRAINS!
Brandon Baker
Why are Yuma and Astral so much better than Yugi and Atem?
Cameron Robinson
A lot of what still keeps some of my interest in yugioh anime is how they do have some legit good storyboarders and ep directors when it comes to doing their best to keep things engaging moment to moment with what they're given, despite animation limitations. Especially in key episodes and duels. Theres no other long running toyetic anime I've tried that has a similar feel, and come across notably blander to me when it comes to presentation, which is something I prioritize.
I'll be kinda sad if yugioh anime just becomes another bland feeling offer that blurs in with the rest of the toyetic crowd.
Brayden Thompson
There's no better way to watch a show than to watch it with Yea Forums.
I think Yugi and Atem are a lot more easily likable from the start and pretty much stay that way. Easily digestible for mass audiences. I don't like really early Yuma but I do think he became a lot better by the 3rd cour of the show. Yuma and Astral's relationship committed harder to the issue of trust and faith, and what it's like for 2 naturally self centered individuals to learn how to sacrifice for once. That wasnt as much of an issue for Yugi and Atem since Yugi had a golden heart from the beginning.
Joshua Collins
Better balance between the protag and the spirit character. Yuma and Astral's growth is also a lot more pronounced.
Brody Reyes
>Yuma and Astral's relationship committed harder to the issue of trust and faith, and what it's like for 2 naturally self centered individuals to learn how to sacrifice for once. Also because they had conflicting personalities. Even though both were goodhearted Yuma was bold and Astral was calculating and had differing opinions. It made for a better partnership. If i remember correctly Yugi just agreed with almost everything Atem did, other than some dark moments, and took the back seat.
Ryan Wood
Damn right. I save manga adaptations for binge watching, while anime originals are where the weekly fun is.
Sebastian Walker
Not even close.
Colton Miller
Great argument and discussion, bravo
Brandon James
Thank you.
Zachary Martin
I wouldn't say better, but their dynamic did have a wider range. They played well off one another, and even though a lot of their duels ended up with Astral reminding Yuma to use such and such card so they don't fucking die, it still felt like they were both important in the relationship. Also gags.
>Also gags. This. Zexal had a lot more lighthearted moments. "Alien character figuring out the human world and gets into shenanigans" is a common trope but it works.
It didn't try to have the same type of story as every other yugioh series.
Adam Reed
I don't follow pokemon, what's this supposed to be?
Brayden Gonzalez
reboot
Grayson Thomas
Oh, to cash in with that phone game huh. Well at least Duel Links doesn't have all the series yet so that's not happening for ygo.
Jace Bailey
I still remember how just before VRAINS was announced, people were memeing that we would get either a DM remake or DM Super (a sequel that adapts DSoD and continues from there). Wouldn't surprise me if that happened for real at this point.
Lincoln Hernandez
Funny how the way pokemon was handled let to people never stopping to see ash ketchum as the MC. Without nostalgia building up there was no way to make a super pokemon like the potential super DM we are getting after 20 years.
Werent there already a few pokemon movies for satoshi back in kanto
Elijah Sullivan
Pls no I'm just so tired...
Jose Powell
Is that really pokemon? I thought they also used the classic logo in JP. How on earth is it rebooting? Wasn't every new series a reboot since Ash never gets old?
Noah Campbell
>people were memeing that we would get either a DM remake or DM Super This has been a common shitpost since, what, Zexal? >Wouldn't surprise me if that happened for real at this point. If anything you should have the opposite reaction. If it didn't happen then, it's not happening now.
Daniel Lee
Yeah the text says "TV anime new series, Pocket Monster".
Asher Ross
I hope you are right, man. A super DM sounds super boring as well. I just want them to give us a completely new world.
Josiah Torres
I think a reboot is not a matter of if, but when. The main problem I see is not the anime, but with the game. The current trend of adding a new summoning method is untenable in the long run. With Links they already changed the dynamics and philosophy of the game in comparison with the former methods, I am serious worried about what the next one will change.
Levi Thomas
>YGO7 might be a reboot >Pokémon new anime might be a reboot
If the staff's arc v related PTSD is going to do anything useful it better be steering them clear of putting old characters on tv ever again outside of reruns
Samuel Price
>>Pokémon new anime might be a reboot >The title is the same title as the original 1997 Pokémon television anime series. The new series will feature all of the regions covered in the franchise so far, from the Kanto to the Galar region. I'd say until we know YGO7 is titled "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters", don't worry about it too much.
Eli Hill
>YGO7 might be a reboot Why are you jumping to call it a reboot when a Super DM series make a little more sense?
Luis Torres
It's a rabbit with a horn, so I think half that size.
Leo Davis
I think that they should just stop adding new summon methods. Why do we NEED new summon methods? New cards are enough.
Nicholas Hughes
I think they could get away with just continuing links as long as the new anime visually looks different enough from vrains Or the next mechanic is much more casual and simple, something that can only be used sparingly per duel
Tyler Hughes
Watch ygo7 continue to ignore pendulums lol
Jaxon Williams
Did Almiraj appear in the anime? Anyway nope, it's not shown there.
Sebastian Green
Human!Ai hovering over Den City in a pose like pic related, with Dark Knight@Ignister replacing Killer Queen and Achichi (or any of the main deck @Ignisters) replacing Sheer Heart Attack. Also acceptable is Linguriboh.
Who is the largest yugioh monster? Dyson Sphere? And the smallest one?
Cooper Cruz
Yes
Nolan Nguyen
We don't, but they want to introduce something new to shake things up and catch people's attention.
Like, pokemon. We don't NEED mega evos, or z-moves, or dynamax, but a new gimmick gets people talking. I don't like this either, but that's marketing for ya.
Asher White
maybe
Levi Wright
Kaz directing? Deck Master format?
Evan Turner
We could have done with more transformation sequences.
This really makes me want height/weight stats for all the monsters.
Dyson Sphere is probably the largest, they made a point of it when it was summoned. Not sure which would be the smallest. Maybe Stinging Swordsman since it's based off that folktale with the inch-high kid.
Brayden Bailey
Black c is a cockroach, right
Wyatt Cox
Particle based ones, like photon or hellix.
Xavier Scott
I was thinking that way back when Arc-V ended but I ended up really enjoying Links and what they do for the game. However, now that Links are here, I really want the new Summons to stop.
Liam Torres
PRINT BARON CARDS. Also, >The duel between Tania and Judai.
Oliver Sullivan
>Not sure which would be the smallest Probably Crush Card Virus or similars.
I think cards can basically sell themselves as long as new cards and archetypes are being introduced to the meta as old ones fall off. What drives people to buy is the competitive play aspect, and for kids who are completely new, being interested by what they see from the anime. Maybe they could rework a rusty ass mechanic like rituals instead
Technically Utopic ZEXAL is Yuma himself as a card in the manga. He just says "fuck it, I'm already in super mode" and takes his Power Ranger transformation quote literally.
It's just always the same story, and since they haven't stopped introducing new mechanics yet I don't have any faith that they're going to stop now, so I'm actually kind of dreading the end of MR4, even though in my opinion, it's honestly perfect.
>new cards and archetypes as being introduced to the meta as old ones fall off. I would unironically love a VRAINS GX that just shilled new Link/Fusion/Synchro/Xyz stuff or gave attention to archetypes that haven't been animated yet.
Ayden Phillips
They either add new mechanics or they actually reboot, it's like a binary.
Angel Green
But why. The concept of old characters returning is cool. It's the fact they did it in a shit way that's bad.
Also the fact they picked Crow and Edo instead of someone actually worthwhile from their respective series.
Adrian Miller
>I would unironically love a VRAINS GX You mean a Vrains' slice of life? Not gonna happen. All the characters there already fulfilled their purpose. If any they would prefer to animate the new OCG manga than to extend Vrains.
Eli Ramirez
Theres also the concern about barrier of entry since ultimately one goal is to stay accessible enough for kids to pick up and play. Half a dozen mechanics for all newbies to learn about when learning rules, despite how variety adds more flavor, is probably pushing it.
Austin Clark
>implying they can't reboot while adding new mechanics. Watch Yugi, Kaiba and Jou shill the all new cool fancy red cards.
Andrew Butler
Katz is literally a genwunner faggot. He ain't touching anything except character designs. Heck, he stopped being involved with the Anime after Zexal.
Julian Brown
The Dark Scorpion Gang
Christian Mitchell
> If any they would prefer to animate the new OCG manga While an extension to vrains is impossible, that's even more impossible as they wouldn't reuse that many character designs not made for manga or anime.
Josiah Ramirez
Because the old guys have had their time, let the new cast shine in their own show. I don't mind a one-episode shoutout like Zexal did, but don't outright drag any characters in.
Jace Young
Theres just not much flexibility when trying to do legacy characters compared to using new ones. And putting them in the hands of the calibre of yugioh writers working on tight deadlines? It was a disaster waiting to happen. Also it often just comes across as a cheap ploy for views.
Maybe if you showed me that NAS picked up a new writer and showed that he's a genius
Angel Taylor
Then why is it ok when that bully from Season 0 gets to return in 5D's? Nobody seems to complain about him returning
Bentley James
He was a small bit character in DM who got an upgrade in 5ds. Nothing like taking a past main character that has a much more established history and story
Wyatt Wright
YGO 7 will use Yellow-Green cards
Luis Gutierrez
Because S0 was Toei and 5D's is NAS. Also he's such a non-character that it doesn't matter. And then it kinda became a running joke to add him in somewhere anyway.
GX did the returns well. Pegasus played a vital role in Rainbow Dragon's ressurection for example.
Angel Evans
The annoying thing about Link is that it's almost a good mechanic. But for summoning requirements they just said "fuck it, it's Synchro but you don't need a Tuner and levels don't mean shit".
Holy shit, I just heard Jack's fucking dub accent for the first time after checking out videos of duel links voice lines. What the fuck.
Jackson Diaz
>m
Kayden White
Pegasus was an exposition guy who popped in and out, he wasnt pushed into the main cast. And it helped that it was mainly only pegasus besides those brief glimpses of kaiba and yugi's ending duel (also a former antagonist but not a main cast member). Gx for the most part handled it gracefully by not maincasting them and only using like 2
I dont like legacy characters because they just seem to be such easy cancer magnets where shitposters clamor about old characters getting or not getting this or that, instead of the main characters the show started out with and that the show should be focusing on developing so they wont go down in THEIR own legacies as flaming, burning trash
Samuel Jenkins
Borrel hangar should have been a field spell.
Jackson Baker
>Not liking magical glue
Owen Lewis
I wasn't here during Arc V era. What was the general reaction of legacy characters coming into Arc V?
Easton Lopez
Hype as fuck
Jaxon Butler
More or less what you are seeing right now. Some people saying they could be nice additions if handled correctly while other people saying they had no right to be there because they already had their own development in former seasons.
They really don't seem interested to have Marincess or Goukis for that matter to have other summon types
Ethan Baker
You just make it link support.
Brody Lopez
>Not sure which would be the smallest. The fake Number 2 Mosquito Ninja was the size of a literal mosquito and could not be seen by the players.
Noah Bailey
Or anyone who has a light dragon ace.
Jayden Hall
Ritual would be the most adequate for Marincess because of their hand reliance; Synchro would be the same but for Goukis.
Evan Robinson
I wasn't really thinking in what would be good for the deck but the weird arcane summoning restrictions they put on each character.
Benjamin Scott
They're not even arcane, they just fucking hate them. If they had to, they'd probably give Gouki an Xyz and Marincess exactly one Pendulum.
Anthony Miller
>PM and Ai: Fusion, Ritual, Synchro and Xyz >SB: Fusion, Ritual and Xyz x 2 >Revolver: Synchro and Xyz (Fusion if counting Furious) >BS and Go: Fusion and Synchro >Aoi: Fusion >Emma: Synchro SB and Revolver not getting the remaining Summoning Methods, along with no other characters getting Rituals or Xyzs sticks out like a sore thumb.
Jeremiah Martin
I don't know if I would say they hate them, I can understand not wanting them to consume the link focused show. ZEXAL and 5DS almost only had Xyz and Synchro respectively. I they were trying to set up some significance to the characters for each of them but shilling just got in the way.
Honestly, I think VRAINS would have been less bad if they had just stuck with Link. The other summoning methods never went anywhere, they just suddenly appeared.
Luis Wright
>less bad It's not like summon mechanics have a story impact like Arc V. They're just cards people have, like that zoodiac user in Ep 1. Being Link-only or not won't make a lick of difference.
Jaxon Rogers
>they just suddenly appeared. That's not true, you can see people using stuff like zoodiacs and baby dragon in the backgrounds of episodes. Links are just the newest method so that's what more people use.
Jackson Hughes
Kinda wished they introduced Link-5s earlier.
Matthew Jenkins
While this is a headcanon, I guess they wanted to depict them as the cast's answer to the Ignis and their relatives. In most Duels with them they were essential for their defeat.
Isaac Adams
Arc-V S1 was great, so most of us expected them to be implemented well. Sadly, that's not what happened.
Ayden Turner
Why did every character act surprised when someone used another summoning method then
Connor Reyes
Because characters in Yu-Gi-Oh! get surprised at everything since forever.
Gabriel Fisher
Everybody acted surprised when a character used a different method. And then there was Darkfluid, which had an effect requiring them for no explained reason.
Anthony Cook
Because it's a new thing for X character, on a personal scale. So they're surprised when said character uses it, but not surprised at the existence of Fusion/Xyz/Synchro etc cards in general.
Also the meta reason, which is to shill.
David Taylor
Yeah but it was like "S-synchro??" and then they never mention it again or explain why they are surprised
Adam Gonzalez
They didn't expect it, this shit happens with magic and trap cards too.
Then they should have properly established that other summoning methods exist. I didn't even notice the Zoodiacs until someone here mentioned it and I doubt new viewers know what xyz monster are Or at least have a character explain xyz summoning after they show one
Christian Roberts
>established that other summoning methods exist They did. By slowly rolling them out in S2 one by one. >have a character explain xyz summoning after they show one Sounds like you're just new and unfamiliar. I for one am glad they cut all that unnecessary exposition out aside from "2 level four monsters?! Can it be?!".
Michael Scott
In episode 6 Yusaku showed off his deck that had hoshingen and neo the magic swordsman in it. That alone should tell you other methods existed.
Easton Jenkins
how do we know for sure that's not just a working title and they'll change it to "Pokemon Sword & Shield" a month later
Justin Peterson
Why would it need a working title when the names of the games are already announced? They're free to name it as such if they wanted to.
Isaiah Price
Really, it was only Arc-V that decided there needed to be a plot reason people didn't use this or that method, which could be said to be to its credit. Every other series didn't have the other methods featured prominently just because they wanted to sell their new gimmick.
Levi Wood
Zexal had ritual summoning
James Wood
Aren't those a complete flop?
Wyatt Reyes
It also had fusion summoning. So did 5Ds >Every other series didn't have the other methods featured prominently just because they wanted to sell their new gimmick. does not equal "Every other series only had their own unique summon gimmick".
Anthony Brooks
I didn't read the "prominently"
Carson Hughes
>only in 5ds
Josiah Collins
No.
Tyler Roberts
Red eyes would be so fucked by a sequel to DM. It doesn't even have a good playstyle to begin with.
