His backstory is pretty much Tanjirou's, the only difference is that unlike Nezuko, his mother didn't fight back and killed most of her children. Imagine having a random brat telling you his family member managed to fight off becoming a demon and killing people while yours didn't?

He probably tricked himself into thinking it couldn't be helped because once they become demons is over. All they need to do is kill all of them and Muzan. Then Tanjirou and Nezuko shows up...

I still don't understand what happened. Up to, I don't know, 4 years ago people knew how to adapt an LN or a manga with actually decent pacing, nowadays we get the shitfest of stretching an episode for half a cour for some reason.

The more open-minded ones don't have any particular reason to think this other than it being the way things are, while the others have harsh experience to back it up. Sanemi was forced to kill his mother when she turned into a demon, why would he ever think Nezuko wouldn't be exactly the same?

It's likely due to budget, they probably don't have the assets to do the train arc justice this season. But even then they would have had to rush to squeeze it in. It also makes more sense to end before there. Ending on a training arc means a second season can start with the cast in top shape. They can also tease the Upper Moons at the end of this season rather than quickly introducing them and immediately having Akaza show up.

It's hard to understand at all, no matter how much "support" Tanjiro's argument has, they lived years encountering and killing demons who never proved them wrong, one day, in mere minutes their notion being attempted to change is not gonna stick easily.

That's no exclusive to their reasoning either, a person who has believed in something so hard for a long time might not change their opinion so easily even if another person is hammering them on the face with a counter argument.

We already saw it from miles away. The pacing for the last 5 episodes will be shit.
It's wouldn't be impossible to fit in train arc without rushing if they hadn't wasted so much time with certain episodes. In ep 6 there are literally 5 minutes of Tanjirou walking, for example.
You're right that they're rigid in their thinking, but remember that they're in this demon killing business for years and only encountered bloodthirsty demons. Heck, I bet they met people who can't accept reality that their family members are no longer human. Even if they believe Tanjirou's claim that she hasn't eaten anyone, there is still no guarantee that she won't in the future. Better safer than sorry and all that. It It's even more dangerous when Tanjirou is supposed to protect people, but he carries a demon with him.
And of course Tanjirou will protect his sister. Regarding Giyuu, he is not exactly popular with his colleagues, and the guy doesn't even bother to explain, being the autist he is.

Poor man's opinion, 2 chapters to sometimes 3 chapters per episode is the STANDARD of any animated adaptation of a weekly 17 pages manga, I refuse to believe anyone who makes comments such as these isn't watching a weekly manga adaptation for the first time ever, they cannot be this clueless if they have watched similar adaptations before.

Terrible pacing is for adaptions that skip content, adapt one chapter per episode, or tries to cram an entire volume in one episode; Kimetsu is being well praised in Japan, those who think the pacing is bad is a minority with nothing going for it.

Was this show intended to have 15 minutes episodes and had to be stretched into full length at the last moment, with the same planning? That's what it feels like to me - and even in that case it'd probably still feel a bit slow.
Two weeks ago I read a little bit of the manga to see what kind of asspull would keep the spider demon alive so Giyuu could be the one to kill it. After skipping his boring backstory I decided to read a bit more and got to where Tanjirou and the others pass their test. It's ridiculous that what took only 10-20 minutes to read, progressing at a nice pace that made it feel like a welcome change after all the serious fighting, is going to turn into 1 month slog in the anime. I don't want to read the manga because I'm not that into shounenshit and the animation is mostly what keeps me watching, but this glacial pace is seriously harming the anime.

Manga already has problems with pacing but for some reason Ufotable decided to strech every scene as much as possible. Episodes last 15 minutes, sometimes sentences are repeated for some reason, sometimes NOTHING happens and whole events can be duplicated. Look at episode 6, episodes with Tamayo/ reddit man and ball girl fight and final episode with bongo demon. Those are the worst offenders.

From this angle it looks like Giyuu is huge

slower pacing works fine because the payoff is bigger with the cool animated fights but faster pacing works better with the manga because you get way less content weekly and fights don't look as cool, i think the fast pace of the manga was one of it's strong points at least when i jumped to it around episode 5, anime pacing in the manga would be like the tournament arc in tsugumomo.

At first they didn't know that. After Ubuyashiki explained the situation, it's mostly Sanemi and Obanai that don't accept it very well. While we don't know about Obanai, Sanemi has 'emotional' reasons to act like that, he's not thinking rationally. The others either don't care or think it's bad to risk people's lives for that lead (classic case of principles vs consequences).

Btw, Ubuyashiki doesn't try to stop Sanemi because he doesn't actually have authority over the pillars.

The pacing is good overall, but then we have episodes like mentioned, this one included. The episode was pretty good, but they should have just finished the meeting. I'd much rather see Tanjirou bumping into Giyuu or Rengoku to give us more time with them than we had in the manga, rather than some cheap cliffhanger.

I don't think the art is particularly bad, especially for a weekly manga, but it's not that great either. The shading is not that good and the fights aren't very detailed (which makes ufotable's work pretty impressive, considering how they turned some so so fights into something beautiful). Things get a bit better after chapter 140, because then they started releasing fully colored chapters, which sort of fixes the lack of proper shading.

Instead of the art, what stood out the most for me was the attention to details. Wani pays attention to the little details.
