Can someone tell me genuinely where the massive appeal for SnK comes from? I watched season 1 of the anime recently (I didn’t watch it when it came out because I wanted it to gain some ground so I could marathon it later) and honestly outside of the best element of suspense, it doesn’t seem to have much else other shock factor and gore. Characters including the MC aren’t super likable or interesting and can die at any moment. By far the biggest gripe I have with the series stems around the antagonists the titans themselves. I can’t take a bunch of oddly giant disfigured human man baby things seriously at all, is it seriously supposed to make me anxious or whatever? I want to laugh whenever they’re on the screen.
Can someone tell me genuinely where the massive appeal for SnK comes from...
read the manga
The titans are supposed to be horrifying.
The plot turns ito a all out war and a witch hunt.
The titans are actually just normal humans (race called Eldians who can get turned into monsters),
Outside world exists, AoT world is just a small Madagascar like island.
Reiner, Bortholdt and Annie are Titan shifters (Warrior is a military rank) sent by Marleyan goverment to take the power of the Founding Titan, the one that can turn humans into titans and control them at will (if you are of Royal blood)
Monkey Titan is called Zeke, he is Eren's onichan from another mother, he hates his own race and sex.
Mikasa never gets character development, Eren actually hates her.
Mikasa and Manlet (Levi) are ackermans, that's why they are supermen.
Manlet gets killed by Zeke.
Bortholdt gets eaten by Armin.
Annie sits in a crystal for 3 years.
Reiner wants to kill himself.
Gabi, a 12 yo soldier and kills Eren by shooting him in the neck
Erwin gets killed by Erwin
Sasha gets killed by Gabi
Jobko gets eaten by Chadco
Christa's name is actually Historia, she is a noble and gets impregnated by Chuck (formerly Sneed)
Ymir gets eaten
>armin is a titan
yep done with this series.
It genuinely becomes far more interesting and nuanced in Season 2 and especially 3. Just keep marathoning it and I guarantee you won't be disappointed
My job is done
Well, the first season is the worst season, so...
>"Gabi...kills Eren"
>Eren is still alive
If you're going to spoil stuff, at least do it competently, dumdum.
Season 1 is just a zombie plot. It's not the reason people think its something special.
It's an overhyped and overrated shounen manga. SNK doesn't deserve the popularity as it gets before but I'm happy that the hype was lost because all of the events involving SNK were SUPER FORCED and UNREALISTIC
Basically, it's a great mix of nice art and animation, subversion of expectation, enough familiarity and good timing.
Also, good marketing probably.
The author has such a massive boner for this character he kicks his own plot by saying Armin is useless thanks to the previous shifter when we saw no sign of shit like this with Reiner
He doesn't start out as one, but he becomes one way on down the line. It's kind of dumb, especially with the surrounding narrative context of why he is given the power, but it isn't nearly as bad as it sounds.

>and that's a good thing!
Well all your problems get solved in the later seasons. The start is more world building and plot focused.
I think it’s also important to note that episodes 4 to 24 happens over the corse of like a few weeks. So there are no major character developments, all that stuff catches up with the plot in the later seasons.
So if you at least enjoyed it I’d say you should keep watching, this is one of those that gets better the deeper you go.
There is always option number two!
I'll spell it out for you:
Hunter x Hunter
you can read the whole manga in a day, go fuck yourself
With regards to the picture, they should have added ROMANCE as genre
Yeah, but HxH is terrible.

it's specifically designed to have the widest appeal possible
>zombies + kaiju
>men/women young/old can all fight on an equal level
>action, adventure, shounen, mystery, fantasy, drama, political genre
>characters die, but not your favorites!
it covers all bases so that anybody and everybody can find something about it they enjoy while being as inoffensive and risk free as possible
it's basically the MCU of anime/manga
>while being as inoffensive and risk free as possible
Hi there, time traveller from 2013 who hasn't yet got caught up to speed on what he's missed.
>the mangaka literally added a nosedive plot twist like marley (basically "nunazis" for the normies) that literally changed the entire genre of the manga
>this manga is inoffensive and risky free
Man are you stuck in 2013 ?
The funny thing is that most of SnK haters are mentally stuck in 2013.
Yup, as so perfectly illustrates.
To be fair though, the same could be said of much of the fanbase too.
saying nazis and ethno-nationalism = bad is not risky or original in the slightest.
The Marley stuff was the most dull and predictable direction the series could have taken. Its been done to death
>saying nazis and ethno-nationalism = bad is not risky or original in the slightest
Good thing that isn't what he's saying then, my oblivious friend.
>Marley stuff was the most dull and predictable direction
Yeah, because eren became a peacefag who shout costantly "WE MUST COEXIST" and didn't turned into a mass murder who understood that humans are not evil but he have no other choices to save the people he love........at least in the alternative universe you came from.
>I want to laugh whenever they’re on the screen.
this, especially when they run, they always look down syndrome.
As for the appeal of it, it’s just giant monsters fighting each other, the story has it’s moments but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone just because 80% of it is boring filler
HxH is for fags who are gay for cock
>80% is boring filler
What? Literally everything happened have its weight and reasons.
Just because they didn't reach the basement in one season doesn't mean that it was filler
One of the appealing factors _is_ that everyone can die and that main characters are very often killed off which keeps it real and honest though the absolute main characters seem to have plot armor.
>characters die, but not your favorites!
ohnononono
doesn't being connected to the paths make someone actually immortal? they can restructure their body from nothing
