Junji Ito was always normie shit. Prove me wrong. You can't.

Attached: 1548465567525.jpg (745x749, 245K)

Couldnt have picked a better director. Say wjat you will about aku no hana but the directing on that for some scenes was great

Entering 2020 with a spiral

A good sign that 2020 will be a good year. Who is ready for a timeloop?

>actually looks promising
what the fuck?

Attached: 1565302674661.jpg (640x640, 84K)

Kago is where it's at. But I prefer Dowman

Ok, labelling something as normie just because it's enjoyed by a niche audience is projecting, the fact you posted moeshit alongside that post is proof you need to dilate.

Attached: owwieee my legs.jpg (584x584, 95K)

another flcl like flop, move on

Another Naruto spinoff? lmao what a shitshow They fucked up not going a Sakura end and now trying to milk their garbage product.

Where does Toonami even get the money to blow on this

>Oh my puppet legs

It's easy having money when you don't pay animators.

Where's the Tomie OVA Yea Forums promised me?

That music sounds super similar to the soundtrack in Midsommar, I wonder if it's the same guy?

Good ear, he did Hereditary, but not Midsummer

>black-and-white sketch art style
>directed by Mushishi's director
>Colin Stetson soundtrack
This is already AOTY 2020. Holy fuck.

Midsommar*

Nope, the Hereditary guy.

Damn, I got em mixed up.

Honestly, Colin Stetson is probably the best choice for a Junji Ito movie

youtube.com/watch?v=MVnSFj6XQZY

You ever listened to pic related? It sounds like nothing else. The guy is a master of unique soundscapes.

Attached: New-History-Warfare-Vol-2.jpg (320x320, 40K)

I have never heard of that, gonna give it a listen

I'm super digging that head turn, it's so smooth

Hype

I can't believe we are actually getting a good staff for this, what the fuck happened is this real life?

I mean, it can't be worse than Gyo.
Scratch that, this style looks amazing.

3 minutes in and what the fuck am I listening to?
And why the fuck is so appealing even then?

He is amazing. Plays his sax continuously without taking breaks to breathe while doing multiple sounds at the same time and tapping the sax with his hand for percussion. Search for live sessions on YouTube.

What the fuck, it looks fantastic.

youtube.com/watch?v=9RLUtiDvIuE

Literally just spoken word poetry over saxophone music and it's the scariest shit i ever heard

>spent the entirety of this year preemptively shitting on the upcoming beastars and dorohedoro adaptations because of how bad the Ito collection was
>end up write the same post over and over to the effect that some manga style is simply too difficult for some studios to animate properly
>see this
I really hope Toonami and Production IG follow though where Deen did not.

Based toonami funding good adaptations.

>it's good, therefore people like it, therefore i must hate it!

I'm excited which means if it's ass it's gonna hurt even more

Is Uzumaki actually scary? I'm extremely easy to scare, to the point where i avoid horror movies altogether but i've never been scared by any anime or manga ever.

it's more grotesque and horrifying than *OMGJUMPSCAREMONSTER*

its more creepy than scary but if any of the stuff in the trailer gave you a heart attack than you probably shouldnt watch it

Ito isnt really scary, its more he can tap into some really uncomfortable phobias and imagery, and he usually does it without relying much on typical violence.

It's definitely high grade body horror. It's up there with The Thing it terms of overall tone

Less outward scary and more, holy fuck I am uncomfortable

Whatever they make. It'll be better than what DEEN shat out.

Well i love The Thing and it wasn't scary at all for me, so i guess i'm fine

I've never read Uzimaki, but I've read a several chapters of Tomai. Is it the same type of stuff?

Fucking THIS
It's popular so I hate it hate it hate it!!!!!!

>normie
You have to go back.

>Based and redpilled, fellow redditor. Junji Ito is normalfag garbage for horror fans.

No, Tomai is fucking weird. Uzumaki is basically 20 chapters of finding ways to make the idea of spiral fucking horrifying.

Ito's sameface girl is my wife, hands off fags!

So with this being 4 episodes I imagine they are just doing a best of sort of deal, which may be for the best cause if they wasted time on that one story about the kids riding the wind it'd be a weird fucking experience.

Has there been any news on Dorohedoro's anime? I thought it had been radio silence since it was announced.

Oh shit, that looks pretty good

Some prophetic user said it would be better as black and white animation when the other series started to flop, they actually did it now.

Thanks for sharing.

boy i sure hope they do it justice, only 4 episodes so im hopefully for the quality

>normie

go away

it’s just a fun creepy manga. i doubt people are actually frightened by them

>That hair animation
I'm genuinely impressed.

>normie
Cute r*dditor! Upvoted!

>normie

Kek.

>actually looks good
what the fuck kind of timeline

Drawfag here, Junji Ito's works are unsetling to say the least, you wont be sweating in your bed after reading a chapter or wish your mom was around at night. Uzumaki is an extremely interesting manga but I think you should avoid it for now, why? because this trailer looks promising as fuck, start with the anime, I don't think I have ever seen a soundtrack do so much for an animation.

Are you all shills or is there a trailer i’m missing? This was barely animated, looks like a motion comic.

>I don't think I have ever seen a soundtrack do so much for an animation.
Gyo's soundtrack did a lot to the otherwise crap animation, too.

junji ito’s manga wouldn’t work with traditional style animation. the whole series will be black and white and it’s four episodes in total

I’m on board with both of those things, but will it move?

>20 chapters
>4 episodes
I know they're cutting stuff but they're gonna have to cut a lot

>inb4 Hiroshi uses rotoscoping again

Im happy about the design choice. Animation is an art form and there are many styles. A switch up worked really well for pong, crybaby and that shounen with the ninjas killing the vampires.

Teasers are often released while a show is still in early stages of production, hence all the panning still images. That's usually not representative of the final product.

>each episode is two hours long

formerly skeptical, currently anticipating

I know it won't happen but 4 episodes that are 45 minutes to an hour each would be amazing

What the FUCK toonanmi

>Toonami
>Uzumaki
>The animation didn't look bad
>Director directs moeshit

>mfw

Attached: 1566934737332.png (712x517, 262K)

Director did Mushishi.

Only some of his stories.

none of his directed works are any good

wow, it's everything the Ito Collection should have been, I'm genuinely impressed

They can probably abridge a few chapters and outright skip some bad ones. Cause there are some real dogshit ones that kill the flow in there.

I have faith in the director, hes a huge ito fag and he can do atmosphere. I'm confident hes gonna pick the right stories to adapt.

Mushishi is a fucking masterpiece

never watched it user. if he did one good anime he still hast a bunch of no name shit on his list. His success with that anime wasn't surely his alone.

As far as I know it's still radio silence. I haven't looked into it in a few weeks though.
I figure if something new gets announced about it someone's going to make a thread (for shitposting purposes).

>mfw Cartoon Network will save anime

Isekai begone

FLCL sequels would like to have a word with you

>Director directs moeshit
Are you sure you're looking at the right director?

Something about how good it looks bothers me.

>a western made anime adaptation of a reversed manga artist
>it doesn't look like shit
I refuse to not be skeptical until I can watch it myself, but I'm surprised pleasantly so far.

Attached: 1566088104963.jpg (320x320, 27K)

Doing over 50 episodes worth of content with some of the most well directed and atsmophere filled stories in the entire medium is kind of a big deal dude. Even outside of that he isnt just some no name while some of his stuff is divisive hes worked on loads of series as episode directors and animators for some really artsy as fuck and stylish stuff.

The last thing you can describe the guy's style is playing it safe. Cause the safest he ever played it was detroit metal city.

That trailer music though

>2019
>still no good anime adaptation but more junji ito shit
Come on man give someone else a chance

Attached: 3E15DD9C-9F56-46BC-B9B8-06E49B3F2683.jpg (715x1083, 418K)

Apparently up on YouTube

>western made
Its just being funded by toonami its still made by japs and production IG, this aint even the first time Toonami has put up money to do something like they did it with Big O way back in the day and scattered shows from there on.

I dunno. Ginko is pretty moe.

You know that clip from that Friday movie where the two dudes yell "Daaaaamn!"? That's the most surprise you'll feel. Uzumaki is not very spooky.

This just looks silly

youtube.com/watch?v=KJHr2DlRog8
holy goddamn
looks like I'm listening to the complete works of mr stetson tonight

Same, I was very impressed by what ive heard. I should check out hereditary too

Interesting. Maybe Toonami will save anime by funding OPM S3 through a competent studio, but as long as this is quality I'll settle. And at least Toonami should be smart enough to realize the benefit of a properly done anime adaptation.

>reversed

Attached: 1474925320894.jpg (888x1080, 73K)

Hope you’re ready not to sleep tonight

I am reading this right now because it looks interesting, but it seems like it is just a collection of (very short stories) all with kind of jumpscares at the end, no?

Meant revered.

Very short stories with big fucked up faces at the end of every chapter
Great shit the movie is terribly translated and impossible to find decent subs but still spooky just nothing else in the way of anime adaptation in the pipeline

I know, turn off the autocorrect next time.

The premise is just what would happen in day to day life if you encounter a ghost or supernatural entity.

well I will definitely be watching it because I loved Uzumaki

Not a phoneposter, I just softcore dyslexia or something. I have a problem sometimes where I just randomly insert a letter or will swap words when typing with something I'm currently thinking.

Attached: cat.png (1000x1000, 439K)

Is hereditary actually scary? Not big into horror I get spooked too easily...

I see thank you
I'll take a look at the live-action adaptation

It's a story that slowly starts getting more and more disgusting and uncomfortable, you see their whole town falling into decadence and everyone in it gets involved into increasingly fucked up situations as everyone goes crazy over the spiral motif, it's super well done, not scary, just super disturbing, after reading it I had nightmares for 3 days, the idea and scenario just messed up my mind after I stopped thinking of that world

I can answer one thing
they got rick and morty money now

Attached: 75.jpg (728x1060, 138K)

I do that but with speaking, especially when agitated. Its called Spoonerisms and there are some funny examples of it.

What the fuck is that even

Attached: 82.jpg (728x1060, 140K)

Movies dont really scare me, i just love the atmospheres and tension. I grew up playing shit like REmake, silent hill 1-3, siren, and fatal frame so movies just feel tame as shit compared to them.

Looking back on it I love that my parents were totally cool getting me shit like fatal frame 2 when i was 10 but they were super against me getting san andreas.

Could you explain what happened at the end of The Present? I read it multiple times, but I don't understand what's happening

youtube.com/watch?v=O_LDm7cJ9R4

consider me spooked

Well it’s not like “scary” as much as it’s pure unfiltered terror and dread and it does ooze atmosphere it’s literally palpable and the ending is....dark. But it’ll stick with you, I’ve shown it to my friends who swear up and down they don’t get scared of horror movies but they said that Hereditary wasn’t horror it was just very dark and disturbing to the point of terrifying. That’s something movies just don’t do anymore. To quote one critic “Hereditary is so good you want to watch it again but then remember it’s Hereditary and decide not to.”
It’s in a league of its own. Like Babadook upgraded to 11+

Reminds me of Einstein on the Beach.

There was a theatre that measured the heart rates of film participants who watched Hereditary and it clearly showed the spikes in HR during each of the difficult scenes (no jumpscarez lolz) just....terror.

I love her.

I'm so glad they realized the black and white is vital to Ito's creepy aesthetic

Adaptations, not original works.

You guys may hate Flowers of Evil but he also direct Detroit Metal City.

Anyone who talks bad over the director I WILL FUCKING RAPE YOU

Attached: 8082a7a70298140e1bd742aff17d996e.gif (575x414, 3.33M)

Based Kago user. Fraction was some wild shit. I laughed so fucking hard at the twist though. Fucking madman Kago.

Usamaru Furuya is one of my favourite "horror" author. His works aren't really scary but some of his mangas hit me hard. I also think he made the best adaptation of No Longer Human.

Attached: 4882._SX360_QL80_TTD_.jpg (360x360, 44K)

>normie
I would say I hope you die a junji ito style death but lemme not be evil

I don't know. My personal impression is that that is the only good piece of "real" animation, in an ocean of still frames deformed by computer effects.

not scary, more disturbing.

pretty much every Junji Ito manga is carried entirely by his skill at drawing gore and body horror. The actual plot is usually Lovecraft tier bullshit where people just go insane and do retarded things for 0 reason

Will he compose original songs for the show?

> Uzumaki (2020) (Anime TV Series)

Trying too hard to fit in, normalnigger?

>lisp

>ironic lolicon calling people normies

Attached: 1491509753140.jpg (490x656, 141K)

Uzumaki won't have you jumping at shadows or looking over your shoulders, but it will stick an idea in your mind that will unsettle and unnerve you, all over a very simple shape.

>Slum Queen Gorgo gets an anime adaptation
I hope there is an user who makes the correct subs.

Attached: tumblr_merjkyBToE1rml2vyo1_1280.jpg (750x1113, 227K)

after the shitshow that was FLCL revival (and honestly it was shit from the very idea of it) i'll remain skeptical but it seems like its in good hands.

based, but then again 3 years in and we've only gotten one episode of the duwang sub, so I don't see it panning out

>Uzumaki
>So edgy so it must be good
- Normalfags, Every fucking time.

Oh fuck yeah

Or maybe not everything needs an anime adaptation.

Based, epic post.

there's no way anyone will have the balls to make a Shintaro Kago anime

It would be trippy as fuck though. I think the one over the mystery gameshow thing can work. Stuff like the manga panel and scat shit probably wouldn't go through.

Wish someone would start on the Asterisk sequel. It started up in Champion Red at the same time the new Fran did.

Kago did it himself

youtube.com/watch?v=DGVfVsG8lsQ

>Skim through the video get to the car shotput
Holy fucking shit Kago you madman I'm laughing so fucking hard.

>Colin Stetson
that seriously blew my fucking balls off

Check out his other series, Kouishou Radio/PTSD Radio. It's a very similar format, but all the short stories tie into each other.

i'm scared, i fucking love uzumaki and i don't want another shitty adaptation of Ito's works

All signs point to this being competent at the very least.

>The story where the dude spends an infinite amount of time in the bed
>The story where the spirals kill
>The story about the soul orbs
put him miles above the rest, he is creative and for his genre is a genius

>the story from his childhood where he buys toy shit and becomes a shit monger

It is more creepy than scary. The horror comes from the idea of this indescribable entity working tirelessly to make the characters lives a living hell with no escape in sight. It also has a lot of body horror, so if you are squeamish avoid this.

no u

Q was in the studio while they were recording at some point, she mentions this in a Dai Dark chapter note.

Huh. I hope it gets a decent studio. I don't have much hope though.

I'm terrified it's Deen, they snap up horror-themed anime.

i want Junji ito hentai

>ywn see a trippy af Shintaro Kago anime

it hurts so much

Attached: SK2.jpg (500x281, 82K)

No Longer Human has a lot of sex scenes.

Horror manga is hardly scary. The visuals are creepy at the very least, however.

Attached: 1561812776837.webm (720x720, 1.72M)

>ywn read the thread

life is cruel

i cannot recall, pls describe

hyakumonogatari.com/what-are-kaidan/

modern kaidan, more or less. there's even hyakumonogatari chapter

Who made the best adaptation for it?
Usamaru Furuya killed it imo

If they don't have CONSISTENT animation like this I am never trusting a trailer again.

It's production I.G.
I can trust them.

If it's only 4 episodes that are we can assume not more than 30 minutes it'll probably be consistent.

The only way this could possibly be true is if you define “normie shit” as “something that got popular”

Bro look at Gyo and tell me that’s mainstream material with a straight face

God damn Ito girls in beautiful fluid B&W animation, it’s a dream

Gimme Tomie next and I can die happy

Tomie is getting a live-action TV series by Alexandre Aja

I love Ito's Tomie samefaces

Looks fantastic

Well that’s...
Something, I guess

Attached: 3FAF500C-0C57-4BBC-A841-D16F866AF0B9.jpg (1024x576, 32K)

snails, thats all i have to say.

Holy shit after that atrocious Junji Ito anime I tough we'd never get a good Junji Ito one. Thanks Toonami. Hopefully we see more horror anime and manga now thanks to it.

Attached: 1567010567801.png (1136x690, 263K)

Uzumaki has probably one of the happiest endings in a Junji Ito manga. It's still more bittersweet than anything, but it's nicer than I thought it'd be when reading it, considering all the fucked up shit that's happening

Attached: 24c026e782d26a962d0d4a22b2d1ef36 (1).jpg (432x720, 94K)

The happiest (and best) Ito ending is easily Black Paradox

Attached: 8CC328B0-DBEB-4836-AE29-233811B808E2.png (500x683, 310K)

If this turns out well I'd love this to be adapted next.

Kirby can beat Tomie.

Attached: 220px-Kirby.png (220x226, 162K)

What story would you guys like to be adapted next? Personally I'd go for hellstar remina or the sleep one, tough the sleep one is like one episode worth of story at best.

Hellstar or

Reminder that there are hundreds of Tomies scattered all over the world, even if he could (unlikely) he’d have to devour the whole planet to get them all.

More likely he eats one and her face starts growing on his side

They already adapted the sleep one in the shitty anime. Granted it was one of the better episodes but that's not saying much. Ito's plot-driven stories are better for adaptations so I'd want Black Paradox or Hellstar Remina.

>4 episodes
Are they only going to cover the episodic chapters?

holy fuck
this guy is incredible

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junji_Ito
There seems to be a lot of adaptations of Ito, why hsve I never see anyone talk about all these movies?

So the answer is "yes", then

Looks like it's cgi-made.

Why not I guess.

That's not a Junji Ito novel

>people itt don't know who Hiroshi Nagahama is
Cool anime board guys.

I know who Hiroshima Nagasaki is, he's the founder of 4channel

>Moenigger
Figures

theyre all bad

>A decent horror director
>Composer of Hereditary
>It actually looks good

Huh. We need more american companies that are not Netflix funding anime.

I like Uzumaki but holy fuck the fact that the MC stays in the town for so long and only tries to leave near the end absolutely destroys my suspension of disbelief. Any sane person would have dipped by like chapter 5

You could argue she's staying for her family but it could have been better done. She just comes off as a vapid airhead that's just there to have spooky things happen.

mangadex.org/title/26354/ningen-shikkaku-itou-junji

As long as we get Azami animated I'm satisfied.

pretty much. In most other Ito stories everything happens over the course of 2 or 3 days so it makes a bit of sense that the MC doesn't think rationally, but in Uzumaki just the first 4 chapters are spread out over weeks, so it's totally retarded that she doesn't fuck off

Fucking hell, Hereditary was such a fucking miserable horror movie. And the soundtrack definitely didn't help, it felt like they never had any chance at all to save themselves from that witch voodoo bullshit.

>moeblob poster
>normie because popular despite having some nuanced takes on visual body horror

Attached: cringenareff.jpg (720x398, 27K)

Kirby will befriend Tomie and nothing bad will happen.
Finally a Tomie story with a happy ending.

Assuming average-length episodes, that each chapter takes up half an episode, and that the final arc takes a whole episode, we have in total six episodic chapters.

Which chapters do you think will be adapted in the first three episodes?

Attached: 1200px-Logarithmic_Spiral_Pylab.svg.png (1200x1200, 201K)

It's already confirmed it's four episodes

The dad and mum arcs will probably take up the first episode. Snail is referenced in the final arc and Hair is iconic.

Which is how I arrived at six. 4 episodes - final arc = 3

3 episodes * 2 chapters per episode = 6

Lol you sperg

I'm pretty sure they'll include the MC's friend getting spiraled because of how iconic that panel of her eyeball is

Does this mean Toonami threads are finally welcomed on a

A 24 minute episode is not enough to adapt the whole final volume

They should do that more often.
Big O was great and this looks neat

as one of the few people who actually liked the aku no hana anime i definetly know who he is

>OMG MUSHISHI WHICH I NEVER EVEN WATCHED BUT IT'S A CLASSIC LOL HYPE
Kill yourself, that garbage is sleep inducing.

Kill yourself.

no, it's still mainly a Yea Forums thing but this is the exception

I watched 650 shows in the past 15 years or so and Mushishi remains in my Top Ten, kill yourself you colossal homo.

why does she have a mustache?

Attached: BROLY BIG BOY CUP.jpg (600x400, 21K)

We’re not so different, you and I

Shows that premiere on Toonami have gotten threads on Yea Forums, like FLCL2 and Space Dandy
Everything else on Toonami is just stale dubs so there's little reason to welcome it on Yea Forums

Threads for Space Dandy and FLCL struggled to reach 100 posts, let alone bump limit.

You're right about Space Dandy but FLCL had pretty active threads full of people shitting on it
desuarchive.org/a/thread/175213745/#q175213745

That's a teen boy

Hell yes. Uzumaki is probably my favorite Junji Ito story so I'm looking forward to this.

no

They definitely picked the right staff. Only concern is that 4 eps might not be enough. Uzumaki works really well because of its slow increase in the spiral's scale. The moment when they return to the town and the extended longhouses make a spiral over the whole town is a real "oh shit" moment, I dunno if it'll have the same effect after just 4 eps.

What part of it looks remotely promising? It's not animated exceptionally, we haven't seen any characters, and Ito's works have all sucked animated.

Japs dont care for this announcement, do they?

Japs don’t deserve this after all the shitty adaptations they’ve made.

>cgi

I doubt that.

Yeah there's a lot of great overseas talent to collaborate with, a part of me wishes it'd happen more, but I also know that'd inevitably lead to having that talent in the writer's chair. I wouldn't want that. Not that they couldn't write something good, but that'd be the point where it ceases to have the same appeal.

Is there even a reason to be worried about this adaptation when it's directed by Hiroshi Nagahama? He already has experiences with surrealist body horror. He can handle this well

Attached: Eyes.gif (480x270, 1.57M)

Absolutely based. Look at all the seething normies

We’ve seen girls being implanted with Tomie’s hairs/organs and becoming Tomies as a result. Would the same work on boys? I need to know if Tomie traps are a possibility.

>Is there even a reason to be worried about this adaptation when it's directed by Hiroshi Nagahama?
The episode count/length. If the episodes are not at least 40 min. long then it's going to be very rushed.

I think they'll only adapt the standalone stories or maybe the first 4 arcs.

the only reason i see to worry is that the computer effects on the lake for instance looked a bit cheap

Anyone knows about a horror manga with feet hiding under a curtain? I thought it was by Nakayama Masaaki but I can't find it.

Looks better than the other adaptions. They didn't set the bar high.

>still barely any Tomie lewds

I feel like I've heard that song before.

It's a teaser, I doubt most of it reflects the real animation at all. Kirie at the end is what we should expect since it's the only actual piece of animation.

That's definitely Masaaki, it's either Fuan no Tane or Fuan no Tane+.

This is still being made by Japan, [AS] is just co-producing. It's Studio I.G.

God damn the music that plays during the trailer is so eerie and creepy, but at the same time serene and nice I love it

Staff and teaser are promising.

Go easy on him, he needs the validation.

Any word on length? I'm hoping for an hour slot, so with commercial length probably 45 minute episodes.

It's possible they could cover a good amount of ground if we get a story in each 15 minutes, 30 minutes for the longer stuff, with a whole episode dedicated to the finale (basically from Butterflies on, would probably have to abridge it a bit).

With that in mind, what stories should be prioritized? Even though I'm not as hard on the mosquito women as some people are, even I would agree that it probably doesn't deserve to get in, but they would need to change the lighthouse story a little bit if they did and I actually really want that one in.

Four episodes of unknown length.

...

they honestly couldn't have gotten a better guy to direct this then the guy who directed aku no hana

everyone and their dog was drunk when they decided to greenlight this.
dear alcohol, thank you for existing.

Isn’t this guy saying they’ll be thirty minutes each?

unironically his best work, and it's just four pages

Ito apparently agrees.

Looks like it? A bit disappointed as it means there will have to be some harsh cuts or run the risk of ruining the pacing, which at least from the looks of the teaser isn't going to be the case. A "2 hour film", as Nagahama is reported here as saying his approach will be, gives it 30 more minutes than the live action Uzumaki which managed to cover:

>Saito Family (complete)
>Snails (abridged)
>Sekino's Hair (abridged)
>Jack in the Box (kind of abridged? To their credit they set it up earlier in the movie instead of just springing the character on us abruptly)
>Spiral Ceramics (abridged)
>Spiral Lovers (Abridged, repurposed for the movie's original ending)

The movie did pad itself out a bit by introducing some new characters like a police inspector who has begun looking into some of the strange events, so there looks to be a decent amount of room to adapt more stories and also to do some of the aforementioned ones more thoroughly.

And you need to dilate.

>Ito apparently agrees.
did ito pick him specifically?

>4 x 30 min episodes
Disappointing.

It's gross and will likely make you puke if you have a weak stomach, but I wouldn't call it scary.

>Colin Stetson
That's it, I'm sold.

Read the tweets in: Ito was opposed to an anime adaptation but agreed to at least view a list of potential directors who had been approached and sounded interested. As soon as he saw Nagahama's name he changed his mind because he loves Aku no Hana and owns the dvd set. Nagahama was surprised and flattered that Ito knew him from Aku no Hana rather than Mushishi.

It's macabre
It relies on the detail of the illustrations to elicit feelings of creepiness, unease, shock and dread.
Some people don't like how the things that happen aren't explained but that's part of what makes Junji's works work. Things just happen and people can only watch or try to fight or run.

This - its concerning to say the least that this one of the few animated moments

it shouldn't be, at least for non-retards.

>liking image manipulation animation
Look who's talking.

>horror in manga
>ever working
Yeah right

What story is the one about the toy thing only 4 pages

When are we getting his best and most terrifying manga adapted?
bato.to/chapter/532561

It's a fucking PV, they usually don't have much finalized animation to showcase.

What do the japs think?

What studio is doing this?
I feel like Itou's stuff could work in the style of Yamishibai, they should hand some of his stories over to those guys and see what happens.

read the goddamn thread

I prefer this one to Uzumaki and I think it would be easier to adapt since its not only horror but also survival.

A lot of people are saying it's Production IG, but apparently it's not a pre-existing studio, but one put together specifically for the project. Could be that a lot of IG staff are on it though.

isnt the whole point that the town is mesmerizing everyone to stay, Shuichi only becomes rational because his parents die, even then he can't bring himself to leave

Uzumaki wasnt that great, it dragged way too much in the middle half, and the monsters becames stupidly silly, such as the jack in the box or the vampire babies

Black Paradox is Ito's best work

A match made in heaven + Colin Stetson to boot.

Thats good CG.
Still CG, but i would watch it.

So wait... Is this gonna be English dub or Japanese dub?

probably a simuldub.

I guess it's a matter of what you call the middle. Things get completely absurd in all his series, but if it lasts too long you stop feeling immersed and it ends up comical. I'd say around the point where people were riding on hurricanes is when the shit needed to end. If the human ratking and ending showed up around then, I'd say the pacing would have been improved.

Less scary but more of creepy, unsettling, uncomfortable dread factor to his works.

>Things get completely absurd in all his series, but if it lasts too long you stop feeling immersed and it ends up comical.

like the final bit of remina.

hey i'm looking for some weird anime movie where basically these green disgusting half cyborg crabwalking spider things infect other humans to become like them and cause the end of the world. What is it called?

Gyo is the worst case of this, I could still take Remina and Uzumaki seriously enough but Gyo just went full retard, why was there a fucking circus

>Yea Forums goes full contrarian once something's gets advertised on normalfag platform

Clockwork

He was opposed to Uzumaki being animated but didn't mind Ito Collection and even thought it was an improvement on his older stories (He'd be wrong). Uzumaki must be special to him then

I don't think it would be easier to adapt at all, all those destroyed buildings and the absolute gravity chaos by the end.

Everyone is mocking that moenigger.

I'm so hyped they got Colin Stetson for the music.

>jack in the box or the vampire babies
Fuck, I can't remember either of these, all I remember is the dad, the lighthouse, the hair, the spying guy, girl with the scar, the snails, and then the end sequence from when the hurricanes start.

No idea what they'll keep for the 4 episodes, apparently it'll employ "unconventional storytelling".

Gyo?

You really ought to re-read it. I had managed to forget the hurricane story until I started paging through to remind myself and assess what stories were likely to be in or out.

Jack in the box is definitely in, mosquito women/vampire babies are unfortunately probably cut. I know most people don't like that one but it's prime Ito gross-out: who the fuck else could come up with mosquito women that give birth to mushroom-placenta babies that are capable of adult thought and speech after birth, coerce their mushroom-addicted doctor to surgically re-plant them in their mother's womb, which causes the mother to grow an actual blood-sucking proboscis?

I loved the hospital arc but it feels like a tangent that's only barely related to spirals. Would have been better as a standalone thing.

Jack in the Box is the worst chapter. So stupid.

Yeah, I went and bought that song and play on repeat.

Reminds me alittle of the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared series.

>No chapters uploaded

hey now, it's not that user's fault that retarded translation group drama exists.

I know, I just wanted an excuse to post that panel.
The first six chapters are up on Mangarock, for anyone who wants to read it.

If this goes well, I hope more Ito is adapted or this.

Yeah, fuck that normie horror shit, frickin normies and their normie shit reeee.
Edit: Thanks for the gold kind stranger owo.
Edit2: OMG this is the most likes I've gotten in my life, thank you guys.

>no animation
>in a PV
Maybe in a CM, but a PV? That's never a good sign

it isn't a goddamn PV, it's a teaser trailer. that user is just an idiot

I dunno if this would adapt well. Love it though.
