Her Etude of Love is mostly an ability to empower others, not something that she can use herself, though. 1999 has great static frames but sloppy animation, and the sound design was horrible too. I've seen both anime and these pics are very misleading to the overall quality of the show.

I would add that 2011 cut the scene (in greed island) where gon teaches killua how to cheat at rock paper scissors. this scene explains the origin of Gon’s main technique, as well as his signature phrase “Saisho wa guu”.

I'm watching '99 again and I understand why it has the filler. 2011fags fail to realize the filler accentuates the source material and gives the characters more time to shine, along with giving you a reason to actually care about them. None of the filler felt forced and the three-part ship arc was brilliant, especially the track used when they finally escape the island. 2011 had no reason to add two recap episodes atop its own filler. They ended up ruining the older arcs just to get to CA and even that started to drag on when they reached the palace. Part of me is convinced the Election Arc played out the way it was because 2011 fucked over Leorio's character and Togashi wanted to establish he was just as crucial to the main seven characters as everyone else.

I'd say being hands down the largest manga franchise in history and easily beating out comic books in other countries means it's successful. Again, call it shit writing or overhyped but it's undeniable that One Piece is a successful property.

Automated insects don't require any manipulation, you give them some instincts and a method of action then they do their job. You would only need manipulation if you want to directly control their paths, which you don't need to do. Emission would be more important for keeping them effective outside of your range, as well as keeping the poison strong rather than decaying outside of range. It's more of an ability that would become a lot less effective if your opponent knows about it, and would work best if you have another ability to keep their attention with while your insects work, preferably while under the effects of In.

It’s much better to have something discreet with high utility. It’s not like any of you would have the martial skills to pull off something as physically demanding as enhancement or most transmutation hatsu.
Shalnark’s power for example is very good. You could also come up with something that can be activated from a distance, either using a trigger based on emission, or by conjuring an object that the target needs to interact with. No danger for you, but extremely effective.

This arc should clue people in on whats obvious, manipulators and manipulation abilities will fuck your face and make you like it.

If I were you I wouldn't get into a pissing match over filler and cut scenes 99 fag. 99 has lots of entire episodes worth of filler in it, completely changes some scenes (e.g. the gambling fight in Phase 3 of the hunter exam is very different) and cuts important things from the manga (like the entire Kastro vs Hisoka fight in HA is completely gutted in 99).

Because they'd get burnt, you can't just control fire like it's nothing like in most anime.

I got one: nen creature that requires a certain state of mind to activate. Either you get the “bad devil”, or the “good devil” depending on how you’re feeling at the time. After activation the nen can’t be dispelled and you are effectively cut off from the ability.
The good one does helpful tasks, doesn’t fight and is evasive. Eavesdropping, spying and assisting friends.
The bad devil fights and kills enemies, sabotages things and destroys property.

Upsides: is automatic, fairly powerful and enables you to do other things
Downsides: taxing, no control and can be detrimental. You’re also stuck with one, if you choose the fighting one while feeling happy it takes a big efficiency hit.

In his case he was banking on the enemy not knowing about his ability, that justifies his risk and having to waste nen to protect himself from the explosions other than using it for the explosions in the first place. All that goes to waste if you're using flames since the opponent can immediately tell what you're doing. At that point and in Genthru's case if the opponent knows his ability, the only way you have to win using that power is if you have considerably more aura at your disposal than your opponent, or else they'll juts defend successfully every time since they only need to focus nen on defense while you're using it both on the ability in itself AND on defense to avoid damage by your own ability

It is possible but not a lot of people would be able to and even then it's a pretty useless and inefficient ability, and that's why we haven't seen anyone using it

Because if you can withstand the heat, so can your opponent unless you outclass him so bad in aura capacity that he still takes damage even tho you're using less aura than you could have if you didn't have to spare some to defend yourself. And at that point you'd be better off with a standard emitting attack

A enhancer has two big strengths imo:
You can go 100% enhancer pretty standard.
Or you can go transmutter-emitter mix, you have the ability to emit aura outside of your body and to give a benefitial property to that aura. And you are still pretty much an expert in emission and transmutation.

I would say that mixing nen categories is overall more powerful than going 100% into your main category.

Not bad. I like the state of mind idea to add power. But it really does not seem like an emitter ability first and foremost. Having basic training in emission would allow you to detatch the nen beast from you but that was the only emission bit about it. It seems more like a manipulation or conjuration ability than anything. Although manipulation is right next to emission this would be more suited for a primary manipulator.

First one is mainly conjuration. Having a conjurer make the army while someone else supplies emitted bullets like weve seen in beyond's crew this arc would be ideal and the most powerful way of making this work.

Second one is really cool actually, especially if you bleed towards enchantment.

I figured the autonomy part was the most important, that it could leave and disappear, and that makes it majority emission. Although yes, it’s a complex ability that requires manipulation and transmutation in addition to emission. I figured the mental aspect being so important made it more balanced.
The idea for the character would be a guy that goes around brooding or thinking a lot, and his power does the actions in his stead.

The autonomy would still be majority manipulation. Think razor's devils, he made them to be automated and take simple and sometimes complex commands. You creating the devil and having it do complex tasks is manipulation of your nen. It being automated reduces mental strain and strengthens the ability since it becomes locked in upon activation.

Since emission is between manipulation and enhancement you're better off bringing around a bunch of miniatures that can be made to shoot nen projectiles. You could even make them reislient with shu.
