Please explain yourself.
The layout puts the King and Komugi into focus. Like the panel before, we do not get to see his face. In fact, we don’t see his face for a few panels because of his distress and rage. In this case, blacking out the face communicates more than putting in a twisted reaction. As soon as the King asks Pitou to heal Komugi, we see his expression. And his expression is not one of darkness or rage, but one of light. He is innocent, full of love, and something so contrary to what his enemies believed him to be (because he changed) they doubt the legitimacy of their mission. Because of how he looks here, Pitou resolves to do everything he can to save Komugi, and changes. This panel communicates Meruem’s light in a beautifully inventive way while taking your breath away with true moral ambiguity. It's a masterpiece sequence.
