Puella Magi Madoka Magica

So I just watched this anime again after a few years and I am left with the same question.

Was Madoka's wish basically useless considering that the wraiths replaced the witches for all intents and purposes. I mean, at the very least when the grief of Magical Girls becomes too much they simply die or vanish or whatever but it doesn't seem like that massive of an improvement. On top of that, are the Kyubeys manifesting the witches and the wraiths so that the Magical Girls have something to fight and die for. I understand that the witches come from tainted soul gems but what was the first "Witch" they fought? And where do the wraiths come from? The grief of Magical Girls right, but is that a manifestation by the incubators or is it just part of human nature to create wraiths/ witches?

Aside from megucas no longer suffering the horrible and tragic fate if becoming monsters and Wraiths being much less of a threat, not much has changed.

Her wish wasn't useless because it actually improved being a meguca. Megucas are less hostile and now tend to cooperate, for one thing.

It wasn't useless, but it wasn't optimal either.
That's why Homu did nothing wrong on Rebellion.

Homu did what she did pulled by the strings of her own wish.

Look mate, not everything needs to have a neat ending. We don't know the answers to some of those questions because the show doesn't consider them important. Overall, it was an improvement because magical girls don't become the thing they were originally fighting.

My headcanon is the wraiths were a consequence of Madoka's wish. The witches influenced history and removing them would fuck with the timeline completely unless you replaced them with something that served the same purpose.

All you need to know is Oriko Mikuni was right.

>Was Madoka's wish basically useless considering that the wraiths replaced the witches for all intents and purposes.
Not at all. Madoka's wish prevents MGs from destroying / harming what they were protecting with their lives.
Also there should be a possibility now, to have Universe changing wish without the downside of Universe destroying tier witch appearing as long as the wish itself doesn't mess with Madoka's.

>I understand that the witches come from tainted soul gems but what was the first "Witch" they fought?
First MG QB turned without any witches to fight that just got bored to death?
Probably grief was always a thing and some form of witches that weren't originally MGs existed.

I like the original ending a lot, instead of fixing everything at the end she just made the improvement she could with a wish that genuinely made her happy.

Not as much of a fan of rebellion as it's not really as tight writing and character wise as the show but it does have its merits.

The problem is Wraiths canonically work completely differently than witches

History just so happened to work out exactly the same despite that.
