Should retro Yea Forums ba a thing?
Should retro Yea Forums ba a thing?

Only pre-2000s anime allowed? Would be great.
Only for a one off day though.
No, but Yea Forums and /ma/ might
It doesn't need to be a thing, let's think about the pre-2000 series decent/available enough to spark some discussion
>half of those can be discussed on /m/
>a good chunk of those are still popular enough or part of an ongoing franchise so a thread on Yea Forums would still gain some traction
What would you even need /ar/ for? Obscure, non-mecha series? Good luck discussing those
yes
Yea Forums is filled with zoomers and yurifags
2000-2010 is the least discussed decade.

Thank God I can talk about this on /m/ OH WAIT THEY'RE ALL GUNDAM CASUALS
fuck you
why is Ranma best girl
The board would be pretty much dead. /vr/ works because games are personal things, 2 different people can get different experiences so there's more to discuss. A retro anime board wouldn't work like that. It would just turn into waifuposting after a while
No. Splintering boards is a bad idea. Yea Forums, /vg/, /vp/ and /vr/ are examples of this. It turns everything into glorified subreddit-tier circlejerks.
I'd argue that /m/ being separate from Yea Forums is a bad idea too; /m/ should be repurposed into a toku board or non-anime Japanese television board.
Nothing stops you from discussing retro anime on Yea Forums. There's plenty of people here willing to do that, but only enough people to sustain one or two threads at a time. Creating a retro anime board won't magically create new posters. Imagine the average amount of people who frequent pre-2000 anime threads. Now imagine that same population but on a board with 170 threads.
The board would be dead within weeks.
>zoomer
You have to go back
If you cant talk about that on /m/ what the hell makes you think you'd have better luck anywhere else
You mean Shampoo?
Lurk more and also learn more.
No.
Any anime can be discussed on Yea Forums. Including old anime. We discuss LOGH all the time and we have Eva shipping wars on almost a daily basis. Chances are if your thread about an old show dies it's because your thread was shit. "hay guise discus this old show pls" is not enough to motivate people to respond. If you don't have anything to discuss, there's no point in starting a thread in the first place. Very often people don't want to actually discuss the shows but they want a nostalgia circlejerk.
A dedicated board for old anime doesn't solve the problem. You would just get the placebo of having your dead thread stick around longer because the board would be slow and doesn't flush the shit threads out of the system fast enough.
This.
Not him but it really is true though. It was discussed when the decade was actually happening, but outside of the really big shows, the 2000s are really underlooked.
It doesn't have the "old and retro" allure that pre-2000 anime has.
It's not recent enough for people who watch modern or current anime to care about outside of the handful of classics.
As someone who lurks pre-2000 thread and the few 2000 threads, more people dig up and discuss anime from the 90s and 80s than the 00s. The 2000s doesn't have that retro gimmick for millennials with no identity to latch onto. The 2000s aren't recent enough and too old for seasonal fans to care about.
For example, nobody even cares about Mahoromatic or Nurse Witch Komugi anymore even though it was all the rage in the early 2000s. The average modern anime fan wouldn't even know these shows existed by name either. I've even seen people recently who blank on Inuyasha or think Inuyasha is obscure.
It is the least discussed decade, unless you include the 70s and beforehand.
/m/ is kinda different though, yes you can discuss mecha anime on Yea Forums but you can't actually discuss the mechs itself since most people on Yea Forums watch the anime for plot and characters rather than the mechs in it, and /m/ is more than anime, it includes video games, board games, gunpla and sometimes real life stuff too
Ah yes, I would love a board to talk about Macross, Lum, LotGH and share that one clip with the well drawn boobs all days! Because that is what retro threads on Yea Forums devolved into, a big circlejerk that doesn't even care about most of the 80s and 90s to explore for new shit and absolutely ignores the 70s and 60s.
>For example, nobody even cares about Mahoromatic or Nurse Witch Komugi anymore even though it was all the rage in the early 2000s. The average modern anime fan wouldn't even know these shows existed by name either.
It always feels weird and kind of sad seeing a lot of the banners we still have that feature a lot of forgotten early-mid 2000s anime and makes me wonder if most of the people who post here even recognizes them.
it will just turn into a containment board for eva, dbz, toonami, hxh and slayeranons whose only knowledge of traditional fantasy are limited to slayers and lodoss war
>/m/ should be repurposed into a toku board or non-anime Japanese television board
Toku is already talked about a lot on /m/. And /m/ allows non-anime things like video games and western things too. It isn't strictly an anime board.
but we already have /m/
