I almost agree but for some reason calling Ichi edgy doesn't feel right to me.
This is something i've thought about these type of manga for a while and can't quite explain, but basically the violence in something like Ichi just feels right in a way. Maybe it's the presentation or the way characters act but there is definitely a difference.
By comparison shit like Dead Tube and feel truly edgy, if that makes sense.

I think the difference is that while something like Ichi is plenty violent and outright disgusting at times, you don't have the characters going on rants about how society is unfair or the world is fucked. All the violence serves a purpose which is too highlight how fucked up the characters are, but doesn't really glorify it or tries to make a grand statement out of it, it usually just end up coming as absurd.

Probably because there's something deeper in Ichi than just violence for pure shock value. This is the dude that made Homunculus so whatever else he may be, he's not a brainlet.

Deadtube is one of those rare "it's so bad its good" manga like Fire Punch and Medaka Box

That is because in LC arc there is a certain "weight" and a point to the awful things that happen in it. For example, the villagers attack Guts because they thinks that he have something to do with Rosine, but it feels more like they are desperate and broken rather the "lol sheople" that pops up in edgy works.

I feel like this is probably the most important factor that usually makes something edgy. Ichi is a story about violence and deviancy, and that's mostly it. True edge is something like revenge fantasies or the aforementioned attempts at making a heavyhanded statement or commentary, often alongside violence.
It's too over the top and as such humorous to really be that edgy other than going over the top with its violence. Shitty shonen horror can't be edgy then? It's usually the reason why they are shit

A good example of a manga that is shocking but not edgy is the concrete girl one. It was pretty brutal but not too over the top to make it drip with edge. Still gives me shivers thinking that it was based one a true story.
