in what was does a tone shift, showing human characters that display a wide variety of emotions, make them more difficult to invest in?

It gradually becomes more hopeful as the story moves but it doesn't shift in tone, what are you talking about?

Shaft cut a few corners for the anime, it's a bit better in the manga but the tone shifts are still a dramatic shoujo writing staple

I can appreciate the facial expressions,I just watched the first 2 episodes but it doesn't do well enough for me because of sudden tone shifts. Even in the first episode it shifts between drama and cheesy comedy too fast even without letting it settle down for a bit. Pacing feels wierd too,I think even "your lie in april" handled the tonal shifts better. I had very high hopes for the show,I'm not dropping it,just disappointed on the first 2 episodes.

Oh, it's by shaft? Must have noticed it sooner. Maybe because I haven't watched an anime since some time, last thing I watched was Naruto a couple of months back. Maybe if I watched some other shows I'll get back to it. Shaft shows always have been kind of a pain to me,I look at every detail when I watch a show because I don't want to miss any, typically.

He is handsome and cute

>so many sudden tone shifts
Because Rei's life is not so great at the beginning of the series. And most of the time he is depressed. Literally the only bright moments in his life are when he spends his time with Kawamoto sisters.

It reflects how Rei perceive his two worlds. He feels fluffy whenever he's with the three sisters while the opposite in shogi at least in the start. He eventually saw shogi as an opportunity to grow as a person

>dramatic shoujo writing staple
I know that mangaka's previous work was josei but still 3-gatsu is a seinen

3-gatsu is serialized in the same magazine as Berserk. Its not shōjo

Well, to say the truth latest parts of Berserk kind of remind a bad shoujo a bit

>I just watched the first 2 episodes

be a retard somewhere else

>be depressed
>have a shit and dark life
>get dragged into a cheerful, colorful and comfy home

I really liked that kind of contrast, instead of a slow turning of events, the plot moves directly into that house filled with happiness and sounds.

Hinata is best HanaKana

HanaKana is garbage and she voices every character with her usual voice. As for Hinata, yes is really great character

>yes is
* Yes, she is

watch more HanaKana anime

I watched like all of it. And she is still garbage. Her only good roles are Mayuri and that library girl from TWGOK

>Her only good roles are Mayuri
stopped reading there. enjoy your summer while it lats, newfag.

Subjecting someone to HanaKana constitutes as torture in 53 countries

Why are SHAFT pissing about and not giving an S3 to one of the best shows in the past 5 years.

Newfag or not, but name at least one role where in your opinion she did a great job.

Hinata

But she was barely passable as her. All Hinata's strengths come from the source material and not from the voice acting

>ababababaaba it doesn't count
fuck off

Hey, newfag, kill yourself.

Fuwa Aika (Zetsuen Tempest) and Akane (Psycho Pass)

>I think even "your lie in april" handled the tonal shifts better
Kek
>flashback showed Kousei was abused by her mother
>then Tsubaki or Kaori will beat up Kousei for comedic purpose
The tone shifts in sangatsu have a purpose unlike in your lie in april.

first couple of episodes for from super depressed mood to cute girls do cute things scene by scene.

watch Layton or nourin
