I'd say it's the opening that sets a precedent of some sort, which would make the question hard to answer. I mostly posted that as a joke, but never have I seen something so blatantly wrong. The good OSTs are build on the foundation of classical music, and music from Japanese entertainment in particular seems to be much closer to that foundation than whatever comes from the west nowadays. It's often very similar to oldschool Hollywood music that was mostly inspired by classical masters like Wagner. You and most of the population have forgotten what music should actually be about, and mistake it for a "taste".

Yes, classical music is the best music genre as long as its music itself that interests you instead of some dumb lyrics slapped over overused chord progressions, or the celebrities. It's simply observing the facts. In the west, the music in cinematography and entertainment in general has shifted towards the more popular and dumbed down genres and moodpieces to entertain the non discerning masses. Music from the Japanese equivalent of this (and most likely not only Japanese, but that's the one I see the most) has stayed true to the classical foundation.
If I am to be perfectly honest, you can enjoy pretty much any genre and I wouldn't draw any kind of conclusions about you as a person for liking a particular one, but I definitely draw the line when seeing statemens like "losers with no taste that can't wrap their heads around the genres their favorite osts are derived from".
Even though there is nothing wrong with enjoying it ocassionally, you are consuming a musical equivalent of fast food and think people who enjoy fine cuisine are losers with no taste. That just grinds my gears no matter how I think about it.
