The Shinji that you’re describing wouldn’t have been able to kill the angel in ep 8, keep up with her in ep 9, and jump into the volcano after her in ep 10.

She absolutely doesn't hate Shinji. Even in the final few episodes she was still looking for Shinji as a person to confide in and help her when she starts to open up to him about her family. The one time she says she hates him, Rei, Misato, etc. are all because, as she says, she absolutely hates herself and projects that hatred onto them, rather than her fundamentally hating them as people Her disdain towards Shinji is misdirected hatred for herself (considering he is a literal mirror into the parts of her she represses) and her showing him acceptance and care in the final scene shows that she has in a way come to accept herself. If she 'hated' him in the last scene it would mean she never grew as a character. It doesn't mean she can't still be pissed at him for what he did and because she is still Asuka, but it isn't something that will fundamentally ruin any chances of them finding happiness together in the new arc that starts off screen. And that's the entire message of Eva, finding happiness in reality with other human beings while wading through the ambiguity and pain that it may cause.

Never doubt the autism of Asuka and/or AsukaxShinji heads. These threads will drift on forever, just like how EVA-01 did.

So what happened to Asuka at the end of Anima? I heard she fused with a Eva and become as smart as toddler. But was wondering does she stay that way for the rest of the light novel?
