True enough. They changed a lot of things from the VN, yet they cut out those important interactions Takuya had with his family, especially with Sayless.
Also, it's honestly jarring seeing scenes that weren't supposed to be shown yet, which is what they're doing with the Divine Emperor. They also added new characters to fit more with the PARALLELS between the two worlds, but it just makes the adaptation even more constraining as it is.

vnfag here, I used to post but I always tend to catch the episode after the thread already died off. Plus, after learning that everyone involved with the VN has passed away, it makes me less interested. I'm sticking around to the end of course, but it's mostly just out of morbid curiosity at this point to feel smug about things they do differently in the anime. It's unfortunate that the budget is so low, but the target audience doesn't seem to be that big to begin with, so it would be a risky move to dump a bunch of money into it.

In the end, they bought the rights to an old story, and are trying to cash in on nostalgia and make it "accessible" at the same time. It's a fine line, but as a vnfag of course I wish it was more true to the source material.

Him planning to save Kanna while isekai'd is a retarded anime-original change (she was already saved while on Earth in the VN). The director thought that Takuya didn't have a proper motivation to enter Dela Grante, and added one without considering the consequences. In the VN Takuya couldn't return to Earth because he no longer had the reflector device.

The player's curiosity. Once all jewels are gathered, the portal, which has been visible all the time in the in-game timeline map, becomes accessible and isekais him when activated. There's less blatant foreshadowing and Takuya is all like "W-where the fuck am I!?" until he gets more info from the border knight. It should be noted that YU-NO (for the Earth portion minus the linear prologue) is an actual point-and-click adventure game where you control the MC instead of passively reading a story.
