What makes one interested in an anime like this? I’ve always considered watching something cutesy but I’ve never really jumped in on an anime like this one so I don’t really get it. I get that there’s cute girls or whatever but there’s cute girls in other anime with amazing plots and in sol anime that focuses on comedy like Sora no Otoshimoto for example. The writers are (I assume) trying not to miss any of the possible connections by pairing up different girls to talk about their problems each time. They're establishing that ALL of them are close. But I really do wish they had fewer characters so that it wasn't so spread out and we could get more Hikaru/Lala time, since they do have that special relationship.

The vibe I got from the headmaster and the skeleton was brotherly love not romantic love, but maybe I'm not good at telling the difference between the two. Mirai and Riko I'm sure on though. It was definitely a deep love between them but I don't think it was a /u/ love.

I think Hikaru and her relationship with Lala are doing just fine. That Madoka gets to have moments with Lala too speaks of the group in general being good friends and finding stuff in common, rather than Hikaru "losing ground" or something like that. Having a problem with that can easily be seen as you complaining that Hikaru doesn't have a monopoly in relationships, or that you think only Hikaru is allowed to form a close bond with Lala, which in itself falls into a bad model for the team which limits interactions between the girls

I think that episode did more for Madoka than Elena even though they went through the exact same events.

The Lala one was a ripoff but we got to see what she thinks of her family and how much she loves them. In the ship repair one we did learn that Elena respects Madoka and that Madoka respects Elena. It worked out good for the both of them.

Because we have a much better sense of what the episode means for Madoka's character, because we actually know what that character is from spotlight episodes.

Elena is reaching Kanade/Miki levels of irrelevance.

The two respecting each other is something we either already knew or could easily infer, and it tells us nothing new about who Elena is as a person.

Better a Kanade than a Homare

We already know what kind of person Elena is and her episodes have reinforced it. She is a kind person that wants to see people smile and she doesn't want arguments to happen between others. True, there is no hidden past like how Lala has or the pressures of living up to her family name like Madoka has but not every character needs something like that. It's not a bad thing for her to be the normal one in the group.

Her brother who very quickly disappears from the show along with Miki's screentime and character development (until she's needs to be scared of Tako for a Setsuna episode).

You would think being normal could be great in Precure. Hell it worked in Suite and HaCha becuse the other girls' backgrounds weren't so exciting but Elena? In fact, IF Elena was someone who just moved into the city, like Akira, we could've had a scene where Lala misses her planet and Elen comforts her about that she misses her natal country too, creating bonds between them.

You left off some of the other things we know about Elena. She's athletic, she helps run a flower shop, she has the respect of her school, she's not good with technical terms. All of that is small but it does add to her character.

Miki didn't have a boyfriend, the show just wanted you to believe that until you find out it's her brother.

In terms of focus, they don't. Stories need supporting characters, and if they insist on having team sizes greater than or equal to 5, it's perfectly reasonable for at least one Cure to play that role. It's not even that unreasonable in a team of 4.

A good season is one where each Cure has it's fair share of development and screentime. Might as well make Kanna and Yui a Cure if you let a main girl be no more than a background character.

As much as I love Honoka and Mai, they're undeniably second fiddle to their Pinks in terms of focus.

Yeah, I don't know if anybody has gone back to FW recently, but the entire show is basically from the point of view of Nagisa, and Honoka gets next to no focus once her not-boyfriend dies.

I do consider that SS is one of the best but that's subjetive, every other season had their fair share of screentime between girls, ones more than others but not to the point that if you remove them everything would be the same. Or maybe there are, who knows.

Waste of sakuga, promising start made the fall out worse, if she wasn't the focus of the episode she made the smallest contributions, wasn't characterized as much as the rest of the team and had the weakest interactions with them, and compared to the rest of her team she wasn't even that good-looking (her cure outfit is a big offender). Compare it to Haruka and Minami, who were set up from the second episode, and had stuff like this shown to us.

Pretty damn close, yes. On one level, it's fundamentally about how we put our love and deepest feelings into the food we make for the people we care about, and how that can show how we really feel.

Depends of what you're watching at first, but I'd say any first episode of any season would hook anyone (well, maybe sans Suite, too much angst for a first episode).

You know, Yes has a lot of things I could criticize, but I just don't feel any need to like I do for some others. Maybe it's because I love the characters so much. It's still one of my favorites (talking about both seasons).

The cast really does a good job at driving the show. I think Yes has an underappreciated cast. They all play off of each other pretty well.

You could say Lala's depressed, maybe scretching it hard you could say Madoka too, but Yuni? She doesn't have time for that, literally.

That's kinda why it's interesting. I wouldn't say you're wrong about the theme at all, just that it probably belongs more to Precure as a whole. That's why every year has them protecting such mundane things all the time (like 40 different lacrosse matches) and declaring why they're so important to them.

Kira was also an oddball because Ichika wasn't this obvious paragon of what the year was about. She often was the one doing the whole "look, it's you!" decorations that tied desserts back to characters, but her being so good at putting her whole self into them was only really important for Ciel's ascension arc.
