The Fate h-scenes are great and here's why:

Fate/Stay Night waifufags are some of the luckiest waifufags in the industry. People are actually able to take Fate/Stay Night waifus seriously because they are actually decently written characters who are complex and emotionally dynamic and thus have made a lasting impression on the industry. They have a staying power about them that is rare for like 99% of the literal-who anime characters from the last 30 years, and all of this is achieved while also coming from a fucking porn game. Fate waifufags are lucky because they get all the success of the characters while also getting to see their favorite characters "explored" thoroughly in the h-scenes of the VNs. What I mean is that the girls are shown from all angles of who they are, even the dirty bits. Most waifufags from other franchises and series don't have the luxury of what are essentially canon nudes and canon sexual preferences, so therefore they don't get to have that emotional depth and connection to their waifus.

First of all, the author Nasu didn't write that scene. As noted in the complete materials, Nasu didn't actually write the script for the fate sex scene.

1.Why didn't Rin tell Shirou about mana transfer earlier? There's absolutely no valid reason. Transferring mana would save Saber's life (and before the whole scene Rin had told Shirou Saber would most likely disappear due to lack of mana and gave him no answer when he asked if she could be saved), so it would be logical to inform him of such possibility as early as possible.
However, if mana transfer involved sex, she had a very good reason not to tell him about it. She had feelings for Shirou, so she definitely didn't want him to have sex with Saber, unless it was absolutely unavoidable, causing either Rin or Shirou to die.

2. The whole scene seems like pointless fanservice. The fact they went for the H to give mana to saber instead of making Rin the master of Saber and let her get lots of mana still baffles me after all these years.

3. It is a life-or-death scene in which Rin is forced to have sex with saber and enjoys it. The question would be, does it make her bisexual? When 2 girls in an eroge touch each other and enjoy it then they’re bi? I don’t think so. I strongly believe the result would have been the same with every single heroine in the game. It’s an eroge and I’ve read a few VNs where 2 straight girls enjoy sex together. I’ve also watched even more hentai (not that different from eroge) in which straight girls (usually sisters) that love the same dude end up having sex together and enjoy it very much. In my opinion, it was mainly fanservice for an eroge game, not to mention the newer versions of Realta Nua completely remove that scene, making it non-existent.

So basically, It's not a threesome if she's there touching saber with a bored expression. This is an eroge, there is no fucking way a girl can touch another and don't make it seem it's glorious, what kind of an H-scene would it be otherwise?

Also, Sakura got a similar treatment in Heaven's Feel while watching Rin get raped (she got turned on by her own sister and maybe it was fanservice for the H-scene. There's no need to assume Sakura's bi, it could just be Nasu's way of making H-scenes (all 3 heroines had a sexual experience between themselves after all).

4. Shirou was there in the whole scene (she even kisses him for absolutely no reason before starting "preparing" saber). Rin knows Shirou's watching and she watches them have sex afterwards. Her arousal is entirely due to Shirou.

If we move onto Heaven's Feel Rin thinks something very interesting after returning to the Emiya House (after spending 1 year in London): I've been going out with boys but whenever I am with them I can't concentrate cause that fool's face appears in my mind. Am I in love with him?

In this route Rin and Shirou didn't have any romance moments, yet she thinks about Shirou, not Saber, Rider or anyone else. (not to mention she says she's been going out with boys, not girls).

I'm more angry that he's cutting out screentime for important characters like Illya and Kotomine. Kotomine especially because he's the antithesis to Shirou, his complete opposite in every respect, and exploring Kotomine with what precious little screen time he ever gets is incredibly important.

Illya too, because Sakura already gets a fuckload of focus and Illya has barely been touched on the past two movies. How the fuck are they going to make this scene have any punch when it feels like she just fucking shows up?

You don't need a 30 minute infodump about some random shroud and half a movie about Shirou having Alzheimer's. The point was that Shirou lost his arm and got Archer's, which is dangerous and will cause issues.

Rin explained Shirou's arm more than sufficiently. He can use it, but if he does, it'll destroy him from the inside out. There, that's all that was needed. And after that, they kept in the scene where Shirou tries to take off the shroud, just to emphasize that this thing is really dangerous. What the hell else is needed?

Having Shirou show up and be all "hey my arm is back haha" and Rin suddenly know everything despite being knocked out during Archer cutting off his own arm in the middle of the forest was weird and didn't make any sense; it makes the viewer question who the fuck attached the arm?

Obviously VN readers know it was Kotomine but the jump from one scene to the next was jarring when so many others dragged on unnecessarily.
The problem isn't "sufficiency". It doesn't provide the stakes. It was casual like it wasn't a big fucking deal at all and Rin was smiling the whole time like Shirou isn't going to die.
The director had no fucking clue what he was doing or he doesn't give a shit about Shirou past "the guy who makes Sakura smile".
Nah it was a bit slow but the atmosphere was well used and giving Mikiya barely any time on screen draws the viewer in and makes them question Shiki's attachment to him and why she'd go to lengths for the guy. It was good.

Kotomine spoke about Archer having a shroud (the red pieces of his outfit) so he at least saw Archer close enough, or was suggested by him to use a shroud to seal the arm.
I doubt Kotomine knew the significance of Archer's arm on Shirou's body. Archer was absolutely present or did some lifting and jogging to get them there.

Unless you think "Kirei gives infodumps, Shirou doesn't give infodumps" is an important contrast that absolutely must be hammered in again and again.

To be fair KnK's movies also added action scenes where they weren't necessary, which is fine. The KNK light novels weren't long or dense to begin with and were largely a prototype so they had far more freedom to work with them.
Cutting important scenes from central characters and giving a character who already has more than enough screentime even more seems pointless.

I like adaptations that go through the effort of being a good, solitary work and not just a highlights reel for people who already read the source.

Sakura's scenes flesh out her and her relationship with Shirou, an infodump does nothing but give information. All of Kirei's actual development and interaction will be in the third movie, just like it's all in the last two days in the VN.

I don't hate the UBW anime, but it's not as good as Zero or HF. In particular, the Archer vs Shirou fight dragged out too long with too much monologuing, too many scenes were pretty much 1:1 adaptations of the VN, and most of the scenes that were anime-original didn't really add much. Adapting HF as three two-hour movies really benefited it by forcing the director to make some creative decisions in order to trim the fat while still including everything important. (Except that one Illya shopping scene. That's actually something worth mourning over, but I suspect it'll be worked into the third movie, probably during the return from Einzbern Forest.)

Kirei might get some short original scene, we see him open a garage in the PV and that is never seen. I think the shroud thing is a bit pedantic, other than maybe seeing Kotomine for like 2-3 minutes it's not important that we see him talk about it and explain the operation, and the dangers of the shroud and arm are established as well. You're seriously exaggerating saying the director doesn't care when he's working with such a short runtime.
