Words are not merely defined by their definitions - they are shaped by the cultures that create and use them. It's infantile to claim using Nimrod as an insult is incorrect because even though it was originally misunderstood, collective misunderstandings have forced the word to become attributed to the meaning. Anime is at it's best as a form of escapism and is extremely lackluster when it tries being something beyond that. It's no coincidence that the medium's biggest criticism on escapism, ironically enough, happens to be an excellent piece of escapism itself.
