he fails all the time,that's part of his method, he couldn't even make fire till he realized he had to make better tools since he wasn't strong enough or dexterous enough.

He isnt a mary sue, on the basis that everyone else outclasses him by a wide margin at everything other than knowing advanced blueprints for machines, perfect photographic memory, and science (chemistry, biology, physics, etc).

There are characters who:
> can build advanced glassware by modern day standards after a few months of working with glass
>can take ridiculously hard hits
>kill lions with a single punch
>sprint up trees and move at high speeds
>craft any kind of cloth goods imaginable extremely quickly
>perfectly pilot any vehicle
>can punch a fucking boulder in half

The list goes on and on. Really, the weakest characters are Senku, Gen, and Chrome, but they make up for it in brainpower. And even then, Gen has his magic and Chrome is a bit physically stronger/faster than senku so senku really is the weakest non-child/elderly character in the story.

People with 100% perfect photographic memories exist irl, tho are extremely rare, and the high science knowledge can be explained by autism. All in all, senku is just a low powered autist surrounded by super humans.

Senku isn't a mary sue though. A big theme of Dr. Stone is working together with each character having something they're really good at. Senku is really fucking good at science but he sucks dick at other stuff and can't accomplish much without help. You'll see next episode when they make magnets how it involves everyone contributing.

Yeah the thing is, everyone has stuff they're supposedly better at, like Soyuz and the memory... but then you remember Senku was also able to remember an exact random picture his dad sent of him and lillian together, remember lillian's exact size in it and the background, and calculate her exact measurements from that.
Or that Gen is a master humam psychologist, except Senku was manipulating the entire village and everything just fine before Gen showed up and was able to convert anyone to his side, such as Magma for example. Hell Senku's the one to talk down Tsukasa, the one person he shouldn't be able to talk down, at the end of it all. He's hardly any kind of social autist, far from it.

The only thing senku is consistently bad at is physical stuff, anything else Senku is always made to do anything or replace anyone as the plot demands. Not that I dislike the series or Senku or anything, but he's displayed he's pretty fucking übermensch in everything that doesn't require physical strength. Unlike eveyone else who is pretty one note in their abilities, I feel like that how people want to or expect to see Senku as, being good at science but nothing else, but the fact is he's good at science and virtually everything else, that one thing being physical stuff.
