You should give them a chance. I suggest Senritsu Sorority, Gekka Bijin, Change the Future, Hitsuai Duo Shout, Draft Folder and Utazukin for starters.

Yes, every season Hibiki goes thru a step of the alchemical process (G and GX count as one, don't ask me why Kaneko said so). So XV should be rubedo, ending the magnum opus that Symphogear is.

I had that notion because Hibiki accomplished citrinitas (chrysopoeia in Adam's words), becoming gold in AXZ and in the prologue the SSJ's cleansing (albedo) was mentioned as the reason she was able to. From there I interpreted her berserk status in S1 as nigredo (Hibiki holding all that anger and remorse inside her, letting it out along the season and having it die in the fight against Fine).

Symphogear was planned as a single season before they realized they had a moneyprinter on their hands. Animation consistency has gotten far better since then because of stronger budgets since.
The pacing falls on its face towards the end of GX but is also generally better all-around.
As a personal opinion, if you enjoyed S1, you might love the shit out of the rest.

S1 has the best pacing and writing. Art consistency increases after S1, but there's a decline in overall fight choreography in favor of huge flashy attacks. G is probably worth your time, the first six minutes of GX is some of the best material in the series, but the rest of the season is the worst. Things have been picking up since then on every front, but still not to match up to S1.

There's forced shitty character pacing from GX, and then there's character pacing that was unnecessarily long (Season 1's 4 episode long focus). It takes about 10 damn episodes for the characters to finally become a proper team and work together.

Season 1 is like the set-up to the other seasons. If you liked utterly tired, old character set-ups of the main shounen protag wanting to become strong, the cunt characters who need 4+ episodes to be befriended because of a dark past, then sure, "best pacing, best writing."

And I will still never understand the jerking for the character that had to make the entire Symphogear universe and story convoluted.

"I'm a several thousand year old priestess that tried to build a tower to speak with god and the tower got struck down and he punished us by making all humans unable to communicate, so for the next millenias I was in the bodies of famous historical figures and now I want to rebuild the same tower to speak with god and when it fails I rage and try to destroy the world only to become 'good' again because Hibiki said we should be friends" Fine.

Fine felt truly ancient, beyond typical human morality and cares, and she was entertainingly vicious and cruel while having the power to back it up as a serious threat, unlike Ver who was always a joke. Everyone else either comes off as a butthurt child despite being old (Carol), they're too sympathetic (alchemists), too small-time (FIS, Noble Red, even Fudo to an extent). Only Adam really came close and though he tried he didn't have Fine's charisma. She never "became good" either. Her last act after Hibiki extended the hand of friendship was to pull a piece of the moon down and basically scream "fuck you, I always win in the end" at everyone and the only reason she calmed down afterwards is because even after all that it still didn't break Hibiki's will. You didn't understand the character at all.

But that's wrong. She didn't get over it until during that period wherein she has reduced screen time. Tsubasa's character is based around the fact that she is trying to cope with all the tragedy and trauma in her life through self-inflicted samurai autism and trying to live a contradictory double life of being an idol free from obligation and at the same a warrior bound by tradition and family ties. she is a broken person living a lie and she has continually struggled with that and the final resolution to this problem will happen this season when she finally decides to buck tradition

G. The first half of GX trumps it if that counts, while the second half of GX is bottom of the barrel, worst season.

G started off with an amazing concert between Tsubasa and Maria, it started off with everything that makes Symphogear fun and entertaining with Hibiki punching through a train.

The villains are introduced, and Maria, unlike the later half and later seasons, was actually fucking cool. She had the Gungnir lance, a cool fucking cape that she not only used as a shield but to also dance around and slash her enemies. I liked Maria playing the world's villain all the while telling the regular people to man the fuck up and not panic for the incoming crisis of the moon. Kirika and Shirabe as weak and outmatched villains, who also confronted Hibiki's hypocritical attitude. I liked a show that was showing the villains to be weaker than the heroes and trying their absolute best with their own justified, if not flawed goals (Much better than Noble Red). Ver with Sugita was entertaining as hell and I liked that he was just an utter madman rather than a guy trying to garner sympathy, a stark contrast to FIS.

All main characters were properly developed consistently throughout the show without one character needing to hog the spotlight for 4 episodes. Hibiki who was dealing with being a hypocrite and manning up when she fights Miku Geah. Chris having a school life and finally learning to heal while trust others. Tsubasa being a proper senpai who tries to protect Hibiki and later fully believing in Chris when the later does her fake betrayal. This is what I consider proper pacing where the development is spread out and goes along with the plot; not characters having to take multiple straight episode spotlights.

G also has for me, Tsubasa's best song and Hibiki's best song.

Maria is my least favorite, you can try again and guess which character is my favorite.

Maria was cool for several episodes. The first episode is her doing the concert with Tsubasa on amazing quality, then revealing her Gungnir. The next few episodes is her fighting Tsubasa, revealed to be Fine (Fake), and apparently being aware Ver is not to be trusted and has her own plans in motion. And I have no idea why the writers decided to turn her in to a wailing, useless character that didn't knock Ver out once he activated the Frontier, and later being the butt of all jokes whike DMJii take the spotlight.

Tsubasa is too screwed up for one person to do the job. I think it would be nice if Mari and Chris save sword together.

The hypocrite thing never made sense and is constantly panned as one of the weakest parts of G because it causes Hibiki to spin her development wheels. Similarly, one of the other aspects of G which continually emerges as a flaw is that the cast is expanded to such a point that none of the characters receive enough attention to be developed properly. Multiple episodes spent developing characters is a good thing. Failing to have multiple episodes developing characters is a bad thing. This is pretty basic shit.

What you consider to be proper pacing and good writing is in fact shit pacing and writing.

That's a valid position. I had no problems with the pacing in season 1 because even if a character got most of the spotlight some episodes, we were still mostly being updated on what they were doing. However, like much of the show as a whole it largely depends on how much you like the characters and their arcs the spotlight shifts to, as well as your tolerance for other characters being absent for one reason or another and sometimes for extended periods of time. In my case, I enjoyed G's pacing but I still preferred the pacing in S1. When I was watching G I sometimes found myself wishing it would slow down a little bit. Every episode felt like one climax after the other, and while that works great in a weekly format it was exhausting watching the episodes back to back.

And GX brought a new villain type to the stage rather than more geahs. Kirika and Shirabe overdosing on linker to make up for their past, while Just Loving X Edge is playing was amazing and more than anything the first half of season 1 can pull off.

And I can see why someone would want more focused episodes, but there is a point to where I get the point of what they're trying to do with a character arc and don't need multiple episodes dedicated to it.

Chris is abandoned by Fine. Her past is revealed, she gets nursed by Miku, talks with Genjuurou and believes in people again. This is something that can be achieved in 1-2 episodes. I don't need scrub Noise having to appear and attack Chris for multiple episodes, her having to speak with Genjuurou multiple times, her encountering those two kids, her having to monologue constantly.

I absolutely think a character's arc can be shitty and rushed (GX's second half formulaic Ignite episodes). For me however season 1 fails to find the middle ground and instead goes too much in the other direction. It gives me the feeling of a VN that's going on too long when the simple theme/concept its trying to say is easily understood.
