Why would you read that sign backwards? It should have been obvious even for Sora that the kana and kanji were mirrored.

When you're fluent and just bat an eye at it, you can read it that way.
It's like reading a text with a simple grammar error. Your read it so fast that you end up ignoring the error and read it normally.

No, it really isn't. Have you ever seen some western newspaper headline mirrored? You immediately notice that. At least you will notive that something's amiss.

It really isn't. It's more like reading a rext with all letters turned by 180 degrees.

It's not like you don't notice it's backwards. You adjust for the kanji being backwards, but forget you need to read left to right instead of right to left.

Of course you'll notice immediately if something written with roman alphabet is inverted. But it's really different with kanji.
The simple grammar error example was to "adapt it" to how it could happen a non-ideogram language.

No, it isn't. I'm not even proficient in kanji, but even I know how certain (assymetric) radicals look and that what positions in a kanji they can't be in.
Add to that that really irritating "ni" kana that looks more like a "ko" with a strange stroke to its right.
There's no way anyone would not notice that it's mirrored.
